  • Thanks for this video! It is my favorite race of all time.

I agree that he was wasted in the shorter races. He passed stamina and toughness on to his son, Good Night Shirt, two-time winner of the Eclipse award for steeplechaser (hurdler?).

I love the Broad Brush line, including Richard's Kid, whose dam is a Broad Brush daughter, and Blind Luck, out of Broad Brush son Best of Luck.

  • concern was one tough sob.

  • Thank you for posting this. Concern is my favorite horse of all time, an amazing feat considering hes not a well known horse. As exciting a race horse as there ever was or ever will be.

  • Yes, Mine that Bird reminds me of Concern too, and I also wonder what became of him....I knew he was at stud, but I could never find a last known location. I hope he is well and being cared for. You're absolutely correct regarding his management!

  • In The Blood-Horse Stallion Register for 2009, (12/1/2008), page 1271, it says he is standing stud at Oklahoma Equine, 2652 Reece Lake Rd., Washington, OK 73093 for $2,500.

  • Thanks for that yahuzs! I saw he was there for a time, but I couldn't find if he was still listed...I have always thought that if no one wanted him in his old age, I would be thrilled to adopt and look after him for his last years. With so many good Thoroughbreds sadly winding up at the slaughterhouse, I hope that would never happen to him.

  • Broad Brush (26), Concern's sire, was euthanized May 15, 2009 at Gainesway Farm in KY.

  • Concern was a mismanaged horse. His connections should be ashamed of themselves. They skipped the Kent. Derby after this race and pointed him to the shortest of the triple crown races the Preakness where he finished 3rd. They then skipped the Belmont too in retarded fashion. Concern later went on to win the Breeder's Cup Classic with another great come from behind win. A Maryland bred, his late running one run style was awesome. I wonder if he is alive today or what became of him.

  • Talk about coming from off the pace. Concern and Go-Go were having a canter on a long rein and just let the cavalry charge develop in front of them. I'd like to know what his last 1/8 was. Talk about patiently ridden - reminds me of another come from behind phenom - Formal Attire. Thanks for posting this - I hadn't seen it in years!

  • Thank you so much for posting this video! I saw Concern on tv in this race at the time; he was so amazing that I always watched for him after that. I drove into town specifically to watch the 94 Breeders' Cup because I knew Concern was racing, and it was well worth the effort! What a race!! I love Concern too; his races have been some of the best I've ever seen. I sincerely hope he's doing well...does anyone know anything of his life currently?

  • He was breeding. He produced a triple crown nomintaed horse by the name of Concern Too but he was not as good as his daddy. I too would like to know about Concern one of my favorite horses of all time. Mine that Bird reminds me of Concern.

  • The announcer is Dave Johnson, not Tom Durkin

  • Thank you, I changed it.

  • he he i was born 4/24/1994 =D!!

  • Happy 14th Birthday in a few weeks!

  • I'm a tad young to remember these races for myself- but in the words of my friend " Concern used to come from WAYYY back "

  • Whata late run! wow! impressive!

  • Awesome stretch run.. I loved Concern
