My lovebird isn't this happy/comfortable with me.

I bought him two days ago untamed, but I got him to step up onto my hand with a use of a perch. He won't step up unless he's on a perch first.

Is this a problem?

@sbloveaholic an untamed bird doesn't take to anyone immediately usually. Especially lovebirds. Give him some time :)

And thankfully, my lovebird is comfortable standing on my finger than anywhere else in the house! But it usually doesn't like me trying to get him to step up when he's in the cage..

I want to clarify something... you do NOT clip off the bird's wings. You clip off the tips of 3 to 5 first flight feathers. Just enough feathersso that the bird can't fully fly but can coast around. Not get any lift. If you cut too many the bird can fall like a rock and break it's breast bone, which can kill them. You should always have someone qualified clip the birds wings. btw, if cut too short it will cause a feather to bleed & your bird can/will bleed to death.

@robocop4447 no his wings arent cut. u have to tripp the ends of the birds wings twice every year because their wings get long and when it gets long like that its bad because the wings will be too big for them and that will reflect on their flying.
