  • great adult dance-pop-rock song from 1978. i heard this a lot back then. i wish crap bag satellite would play songs like this instread of the same 200 artists on different satellite retro stations.

  • Love the sheep - about ewe - HAHAHAHA!!

  • @timmmahhhh I'm glad somebody appreciated it. :-)

  • This song reminds me of Shirley. Sandy, Carl, and Richie Thanks for the memories

  • Nice video touch to a most excellent song! Her voice is so silky smooth :) Love the rock-a-billy type of guitar riff too.

    Happy Birthday, RITA!!!

  • BEST OF TIMES , IM STILL IN LOVE

  • It got some of airplay on 1260 KYA , The Big 610 KFRC , and K-101 in San Francisco way back then .

  • U made me smile. Thanks!

  • That bass line walks nicely and that guitar work is so clean! And of course Ms. Coolidge just sounds so sweet throughout. The video is a nice accompaniment to a great song. Thank you for posting.

  • Best song she ever did.Reminds me of my daughterbeing born in 1978,and how old i am.But i liked this then and now its better.Thanx for posting!

  • great job, awesome song

  • This song also got alot of airplay in Cincinnati... on WKRQ..Cincinnati's Q102.

It got very little airplay in Columbus

  • WOW, I haven't heard this song in over 30 year's! I love this song!

    Thank's so much for posting!!

  • I must b honest. Up until now, I never knew Rita, and original singer Marcia Hines, were the voices of this hit. It 2 me was a little depressing, but not completely. This vid, I declare, does bring inspiration. You know, We're All Alone is my soul fav from Rita, but this is good too. Thanks MrTrashcan 4 making this. It really runs with the song. Take care.

  • childhood memories...thank you.....

  • Great song from college times - good times sad times

  • Happy 65th birthday,Rita Coolidge. God bless you for being the sexy beauty you still are today. I remember when both my grandmothers were that age. Neither were ugly, but they were average-looking.

  • a very clever video. thanks for posting.

  • @kk3jst Thank you kindly!

  • I like this song...and the video is really nice!

  • This cool song was Rita's 4th greatest hit. It reached #25 in 1978. (U.S., Billboard) My very favorite by her was "We're All Alone," but this one is definitely next. Her other bigger hits were remakes, but Rita improved anything she touched!

  • @rin3guy "We're All Alone" was written by Boz Scaggs, whose version was also excellent, although Rita did have the hit and you're right about her magic touch. My favorite by Rita was "I'd Rather Leave While I'm In Love," one of the prettiest songs I know. I posted it in my first incarnation here at YT, but they blocked it, and that along with other contraband led to my temporary extinction. The fact that "You" is allowed makes me think I might try to repost it. Thanks much for your comments!

  • cute video - great song!

  • Rtal Coolidge was a very underestimated talent. This tune sounds so much like Les Paul and Mmary Ford from the early 1950s and their "The World is Waiting for the Sunrise".Les Paul, in adition to being a great guitarist, influenced many artists that followed him such as The Carpenters. Les Paul died last year at 96.

  • this was a number one song for australian singer macia hines in australia

  • Very nice pics - LOL ewe - You - yew! -great song, love anything by Rita. *****

  • This song always makes me think of the summer of 1978. Loved it then and I still love it today!

  • Love this song. Thanks for posting this.

  • Thank you for posting♪ I really love this song(^^)v

  • I wonder who was doing the pickin'?

  • At nearly age 65,Rita Coolidge still looks mighty hot! Keep up the great work,Rita!

  • I loved this song back in the day!!

  • I was just starting kindergarten when this song was out. What memories!!

  • great catchy tune....they played it on german radio over and over...but it never was a hit here.

    thank you for posting!

  • Wow, I haven' heard this song since it first came out in 1978!

  • wooow finally i find it

  • This song is a powerful anchor for me. It was the first one I bought once I left home for State College at Penn State. I was living alone for the first time in September 1978, and I bought this record, along with Chris Rea's "Fool If You Thini It's Over" and Anne Murray's "You Needed Me". Somehow the records simply cannot put out what computers can.

  • Thanks for putting this up TrashMan!! You've got the only one on YouTube to post this underrated song.

I've got the 45...always liked it.

  • One of my favorite songs. Had it on my old IPOD.

  • Yep...78' crazy time for music...Disco...Rock...Heavy metal... We had the best of all worlds!!! Ya just had to be there

  • @acdeucee glad I was there

  • @acdeucee Don't forget New Wave - The Cars released their first album in 1978 which many consider the first new wave album. 1978-79 I though really were incredible!

  • Feel like a teenager listening to this one...Bringin back some 1978 memories when the world was my Oyster

  • Last I heard this song ,was over 30 yrs ago...I heard it today On a 70's radio station, and didnt hear the title or the artist's name , However strangely I knew just about every word..AH Ha 'You tube'. I know 2 things...Sounds like Rita Coolidge and She says YOU alot....Bingo!! Found this tune on little to go by.

  • Haha...great deduction!!! YouTube is great for all these older songs and bands.

  • Ready to become my #1 song of the week in no time. Missing from the OLD CD of her greatest hits, but I downloaded it from iTunes (from her Millennium Masters)--I can't stop playing it--a mix of the two best late 70s styles--soft rock and disco!

  • Absolutely, your assessment is right on.

  • I got it too and it happens to me the same thing. I can't stop playing it and dancing it!

I also listened to the original version by Marcia Hines, but...sorry Marcia, it has nothing to do. Rita's version is way better!! :-)

HUGS, FROM MONTEVIDEO, URUGUAY, SOUTH AMERICA, where "You" was a huge hit !!!

  • 1st chinese guy! look out Jet Li!

  • Love this song and video, especially the chinese guy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Yep, it was WASH-FM for me when I heard it, back when they were #1 in DC with some of the best on air people.

  • No surprise there. WASH was DC's Metromedia affiliate.

  • Thank ewe for posting this great Rita song! I love all the cute "ewes"...

  • Thanks for this song! Brings back fond memories !!!!

  • this song blasted through the halls of my high school when it was released. I really thought it would have been a bigger hit than it was. Great tune!

  • Recalled from a road trip through PA and MD on US 40 in 78. Yes I do recall it on WGAR in Cleveland.

  • Yep, WGAR, and I don't know how much Cleveland radio you remember, but by this time WIXY 1260 had changed format to soft rock/oldies as WMGC (Magic Radio--that "magic" format seemed to be emerging around the country). Also heard it on some soft rock FM stations.

  • This song also hit the Country charts in the summer of 78. I was traveling home from a family trip from Alabama , this song was playing on KVOO (The voice of Oklahoma)and the first time I heard it was on that station in Glenrio TX. Immediately fell in love with it. Great one! I love Rita, Too. a fellow Cherokee Indian. Mike in Fresno, Ca.

  • You a railroad buff or model railroader, Mike?

  • Both, actually. On those family trips we took across country, inspired me even more to collect trains, especially modelling the desert southwest- the Santa Fe, and the Southern Pacific. My attention was almost constantly on the rails from where Hwy 58 leaves Bakersfield east toward Barstow, and then I-40/US.66 the rest of the way to Memphis, and other hiways from there. These songs bring back those memories for me. Thanks for posting , Mike in Fresno, Ca.

  • It got a lot of play on KMTW FM and KEEP AM back then over in Twin Falls , Idaho . those were the only two rock stations we had in this area until later that year when KFMA FM changed it's format from easy listening to rock .

  • The dark-haired guy in the vidcap for this clip is former quarterback Vinnie Testeverde. He played his college ball at the University of Miami. (their logo is the letter "U")

  • cool & smooth!!!

  • still have her 45 single....thanks for posting!

  • GREAT song. Thanks for uploading!
