  • @ SixtiesPopGold1 - I understand it's from the Bob Hope show. Any idea of the year???

  • Absolutely beautiful. He made singing so effortless that he has been under-appreciated for his vocal talents; not even to mention his supreme talent on the guitar.

  • A great version...

  • I remember seeing him sing this live on a TV show, around 1968. Not sure what show but he seems to be this one, I remember him being in a jail cell (setting) . I stood and watched/listened to every second of it. The most beautiful song (and voice)- I hadn't heard it by the others who did it (a lot in french).yet. I went right out and found the album it was on Witchita Lineman (that song is on it). I recorded "If You Go Away" on a tape over and over and played it while doing yoga..

  • Best version of the song.... glad i saw this video! Have never 'seen' him sing the song :) only heard the records so this is great!

  • After ,I left Asia ,In 74 ,Never heard about Glen, but I listen his song, friend had his old

    LP.

For me his songs were like Opium to me,reliving all uncomfortable loneliness.

Thanks for bringing this one on You Tube

  • Campbell sings Brel! I had never seen this before. I am really glad that I bumped into it. Very nice. Anybody know what show this is taken from?

  • @Kedz65 It's from Bob Hope Show.

  • @SixtiesPopGold1 Are sure its from the Bob Hope Show? It looks like it was from his TV show. The Glen Campbell Good Time Hour….. on CBS

  • @69currahe The DVD that I got said it was from the "Bob Hope Show". Besides, when the "Glen Campbell Good Time Hour" started in 1969 or 1970, Glen had grown some sideburns.

  • I remember listening to this song on my brother's stereo back in the seventies and I couldn't get over how beautiful it was. Yrs this was original a french and Jimmy Webb translated in English. One of the beautiful love songs ever!!!

  • @tjmwine Rod McKuen re-interpreted the lyrics of the Jacques Brel song, Ne Me Quitte Pas, as If You Go Away. The original French lyrics are darker but both versions are beautiful.

  • fuckin cool

  • glen sings with so much feeling. he does a fantastic job interpreting this song. love it! the clip is A++ coz it's so clear and young glen looks good here. thanks for sharing this video. btw, has it been released on dvd? or where did u tape it from?

  • Thank you so much for posting this. Glen is my favorite, and I have always loved this song. I haven't seen a clip of it in years. :)

  • I love this song... Great album too!

  • This is a pretty song I never heard this one by him he is so young here

  • @Lady0nline

This song is on his 1968 Wichita Lineman album and also on his 1977 Live At The Royal Festival Hall album.

  • The original was "Ne me quittes pas" (do not leave me) by Jacques Brel who wrote it.
