"if you are ( getting air from the fan) chances are - just your screen having a problem..." are you serious?! where the hell that came from ?! sounds like youv'e never encountered with a dead MB, problem in the LCD are the last chance , e-s-p-e-c-i-a-l-l-y in this model- HP DV6000 which had a series problem with their graphic card(a part of the MB)

and BTW if there's a problem with the LCD you can always check with external monitor...

A lot of little hardware issues CAN be solved by taking the battery out for a while. It may sound ridiculous, but it is worth trying! Besides, there is nothing else you can do to fix your laptop if het doesnt do anything at all (accessing BIOS for example).

interesting i have the same laptop, i removed the battery over night and it started up. i think it was a build up of static electricity.

the first time it didn't boot, the fan started as did all the media lights light up but it never got past that stage.
