I,m not what I would call a bodybuilder, but I lift 3 - 4 times aweek, & I lift heavy. I went on a modified Atkins diet about 10 yrs. ago ( no more than 5 cafbs aday for 7 days - than carb load for a day) I only could make it for 4 days and I had to eat fruit. I went three days w/out a singal bowel movement. I,ve been a wholefood vegan now for over a month, and have had no side effects. Vast protein consumption even for strength athletes, is a colossal myth.
You can certainly loose weight on the Atkins diet, I did, but at a cost to kidney function amongst a host of other issues.
