Interesting....some of it makes sense...OK..a LOT of it makes sense and fits.

The 108 bomb thing for instance...it made a tear in the space/time continuum when it exploded at the end of S5, the bleed off that has to be done keeps it from repeating over and over. Desmond being on top of the thing when he turned the failsafe key explains his abilities, eg. he got a good dose of the energy/radiation/etc...but it still doesn't explain why they just didn't fire off the failsafe to begin with.
