  • Genuine scientific entities have contacted the japanese and submitted low-cost viable alternative methods for gaining the knowledge ICR whalers are claiming they seek in this "research whaling campaign". Alternatives that would leave the Whales alive AND subsequently create a peace that would end the entire Sea Shepherd activism in the Southern Ocean.

    But the whalers declined it.

    Why?

  • "International Whale Protection Organization". Oh yeah, like you don't have a horse in this race. Well, at least you're blatantly obvious about your bias.

  • IWC Quotes: “Concern was also expressed that with the sample size and methods proposed, it was unlikely that several of the objectives of the programme would be met, especially with respect to sperm whales. They commented that the ecosystem modelling approach was poorly developed and that the likely precision of any fisheries information (both past data and future) was poor. “

  • IWC Quotes: “There was considerable disagreement within the Committee over most aspects of this research programme, including objectives, methodology, likelihood of success and effect on stocks. ”

“In 2000, the Commission adopted a Resolution by majority strongly urging Japan to reconsider issuing the permit. It adopted a similar Resolution in 2001. A further Resolution was passed in 2003″

  • IWC Quotes: “In 2005 a Resolution was passed (30 votes to 27 votes with 1 abstention) that strongly urged the Government of Japan to withdraw its JARPA II proposal or to revise it so that any information needed to meet the stated objectives of the proposal is obtained using non-lethal means. Japan withdrew a proposed resolution in favour of the research programmes.”

  • IWC Quotes: “In 2007 the Commission passed a Resolution asking Japan to refrain from issuing a permit for JARPA II by 40 votes in favour, 2 votes against and 1 abstention; 27 countries decided not to participate in the vote as they believed that the submission of the proposal was not conducive to building bridges within the Commission.”

  • IWC Quotes: “there was considerable disagreement over the value of this research both within the Scientific Committee and the Commission. As in previous years, there was severe disagreement within the Committee regarding advice that should be provided on a number of issues, including: the relevance of the proposed research to management, appropriate sample sizes and applicability of alternate (non-lethal) research methods.”

  • Over time there have been some interesting responses to this video. However, the fact remains that Japanese whalers have historically violated and subverted international whaling regulations. This includes size limits, species protections, seasonal limits, all manner of quotas and facilitating pirate whaling through foreign labor and front companies (not exactly traditional). Now they kill endangered and non-endangered species under the guise of research in the North Pacific and Southern oceans.

  • @whaleprotectionorg and at one time the US illegally invaded Mexico, but what happened decades ago really isn't the issue. The current Japanese whaling is legal and not in violation of any treaties, laws or regulations.

  • @PastaDruid There is no legal certainty to Japan's whaling programs. Several independent legal panels have concluded the whaling is conducted in violation of international agreements. The International Whaling Commission has passed many resolutions calling on Japan to cease whaling. Australia has filed a legal challenge against Japan's whaling in the International Court of Justice. It's merely the latest incident of Japan's historical pattern of whaling regulatory violations.

  • @whaleprotectionorg and several independent legal panels have concluded the whaling is NOT conducted in violation of international agreements. The IWC has passed many resolutions ASKING Japan to stop whaling, they have never passed a resolution declaring Japanese whaling in violation of the IWC regulations. Yes Australia has filed a case in the ICJ, but filing a case isn't proof of anything, many cases that are filed fail. So get back to me in years when the court rules on the case.

  • @DTofMN Thanks for getting that. I was going to answer along the same lines but I would have been less civil. It gets upsetting to have to keep correcting the same anti-whaling non-arguments.

  • @DTofMN The paid opinion of Dan Goodman , Councilor for the ICR and representative of Japan to the IWC since 1998, does not represent a "legal panel".

  • @whaleprotectionorg Japan lodged protests against major resolutions concerning the 1986 moratorium and the 1990's creation of the southern sanctuary. These protests mean that the resolutions are not binding to them. The text of the resolutions even explicitly say so.

But, regardless, participation in the IWC is voluntary. Japan can leave at any time and resume full-fledged commercial whaling. And they wouldn't be the first.

  • 6800 whales killed = 4 papers of any scientific worth. Please stop trying to pretend whalers - you're making a mockery of yourselves.

  • screw you japan!!

    oh shit ...

i think im turning japanses i think im turning japanese i really think so!!

  • 私はそれのためにあなたを憎む

I hate you for that, bastards.

  • Japan knows that they are ethically in the wrong. For that is the reason that they bring out the "racist!" accusations!

Stop the whale slaughter, you bastards!

  • 日本人は非難されるべき民族ですか?

    日本を非難する人達は差別が無いと断言できますか?

    特定の国や団体、人物を示していません。

    短い単語

    [狩猟(hunting)]で検索した事がありますか?

Is Japanese the race which should be blamed?

Can the people who blame Japan assert that there is no discrimination?

Specific country, group and person aren't indicated.

    Short word

Is there a case that you searched by [hunting]?

  • What your eat? Killed meat.

  • booooo! killing young whales destroys the word research!!! they can do the research without killing young whales!!!. Their just greedy! always thinking of food!!!

  • Wrong, take young whales helps prove research. If all they wanted was meat they would catch the largest whales possible and wouldn't bother with small/young whales.

  • @PastaDruid Or perhaps they are harpooning the baby whales to keep the mothers around long enough to kill them too. Two for the price of one! Whales are very protective of their young and mothers will stay in order to try and protect their young. Even the whalers admit to this. You do not shoot a puppy to find out what is inside it, why do this to a whale?

  • @crazybetty06 and where is this quote about baby whales from the whalers? Or even the proof from the anti-whalers? No researchers don't shoot puppies to see what is inside them, they either use gas or a shoot of poison. Neither is really an option with whales.

  • this makes me angry and dissapointed!!

  • Save East Turkestan people.

They are facing extinct....China did experiment of Nuclear weapon there at least 40 times and killed at least million people this 30 years.

    Tibet is also victim.

    Human being should be protected

  • IWC SCIENTISTS REVEAL JAPAN'S "Scientific Whaling" AS JUNK-SCIENCE:

"The IWC's prestigious Scientific Committee exposed fundamental problems in Japan's "scientific research" whaling including a lack of testable hypotheses, failure to take performance measures; inappropriate use of ecosystem models, failure to include key data on ecosystem components."

"Other flaws in Japan's "scientific" research, and criticized by the IWC, include Japan's selective inappropriate use of data."

  • Yea the Japanese citizens who are trying to frame other countries of whaling are just racist. They appeal to racisim to at least try and get us fellow asians on their side. But in truth most of the asian countries still hate them.

  • i signed your petition against whaling. Don´t stop with your work!

  • is that the yisshin maru 2 if it is then sea shepherd was by em

  • South Korea is whaling illegally. I have the videos to show it on my channel.

  • "People who hate Japan"-YES! JAPANESE WHALERS HATE JAPAN.

Whale meat contains Mercury. Mercury causes brain tissue damage, mental retardation, and can cause ones future child to be born deformed. Japanese Whalers entice Japanese people to eat it. Japanese whalers are mass-poisoning thousands of Japanese citizens. Whalers hurt Japan & Japanese people.

EVERYONE AGAINST whaling, stops the ingestion of contaminated meat, and therefore saves 99% of good Japanese people and is the Friend of Japan.

  • Bystrax92 schooled you, mofo.

We don't hate Japanese. We hate those who whale or eat whale meat regardless of race. You tell us to leave Japanese alone? No problem, when they stop sending factory ships to foreign waters to kill endangered whales.

Until then, whalers will be hated and despised.

  • But if they do it in their own waters?

    Stick to the point.

  • What a waste of paper.....they are researching only to prove that whales are plentiful enough for them to go back to commercial whaling and drop the research act...whales are not plentiful enough in any species to start commercial whaling yet again! sheesh!

  • LEARN THE TRUE WHALING HISTORY

LEARN THE FOOD CULTURE OF OTHER COUNTRIES

  • YES! LEARN FOOD CULTURE of other countries--» Eating whale meat is NOT Japanese culture!

Japanese Emperor Tenmu BANNED Eating of meat in 674AD! This is 1,200 years of Japanese tradition = NOT EATING meat.

Modern Whale eating is Foreign! Eating whale meat was forced on Japan by WESTERNERS after losing WW2!

Japan is Buddhist & Shinto! Buddhists have nearly the largest amount of Vegetarians in the world!

Anyone cheering whale meat is a BAD Buddhist, shames Japan, betrays its people & culture!

  • @broa2917 bullshit

  • japs.....japs....japs......

  • Japan killing whales is literally murder, its unbelievable CRUEL. Scientic whaling is totally and utter rubbish, its all for food. I pray one day this will END. 6800 whales were brutely murdered for this, is this justified.

  • It is interesting. You are a comedian.

And, how do you process the murder of the cow?

  • We raise cows so they will never be endangered

  • South Korea has built a "scientific research centre" that contains a "whale-meat factory."

"In Korea, there is a market for whale... and the whale market needs meat from any source. The accidental catch is not accidental." - Ye-Yong Choi, from the KFEM, reported by BBC.

    watch?v=SjdfHMk1viQ

IWC Infractions Sub-Committee: "The Republic of Korea sincerely regretted the reported incidents of illegal catches by its nationals."

  • Post by CloeBuckingham obsoleted. No such Center is being constructed. Canceled.Korean whale research center NOT built.

No such whale meat factory in Korea. Non-existant. But Japanese Whalers continue to poison Japanese citizens. Whale meat was found to contain Neuro-toxins. Eating whale meat causes Brain tissue damage. Japan Health Ministry issued warning Whale Meat unfit for humans. Whalers response: Slip it into Japanese childrens lunch program to mass-poison Japanese people and children.

  • There is a huge factory for processing whale meat in Ulsan. Nothing was cancelled. If you had references, you would have provided them.

  • see this

    watch?v=zMBcPxI5od0&feature=ch annel_page

  • Hey when you announce in International Whaling Commission if it is thought that it is correct.

Japan is investigating by using the space satellite.

  • thousands of dead whales and a small pile of papers.. on other animals thousands of papers and no dead animals fuck you japan whalers

  • A shitty video.

  • The Australian government should destroy the fucking shit japs whales- hunting boats! I fully support this.

And capture all shit japs living in Australia and throw them into the sea for feeding whales. Let those shit japs sense how is the feeling of being hunted.

Shit nation produces shit people, shame on you Baka race

  • Darn Norway Japan And Iceland for Whaling!

  • Shame on you Japan, and the rest of you that feel it ok to feed your children Toxic meat contaminated with mercury poisoning, eating it can cause brain tissue damage, birth defects, and stunted intelligence, maybe some of you that feel this to be ok have already eat to much of this contaminated meat.

  • Wow, whales need help!!! Oh noes they are hunted!!!

What about thousands of Africans who die from hunger? Aren't they more intelligent than whales? Do you people prefer to give more efforts and more funds to help whales than humans?

  • at this point i'd like to point out that:

firstly whales do not inflict this upon themselves - i.e. they are not so sexually driven/uneducated that they do not reproduce to the point of starvation and poverty.

secondly whales probably are more intelligent.

  • Idiot, one of the reason why Africans are still underdeveloped is because of Western lending practices and questionable geopolitical agendas. Westerners have raped, exploited and looted defenseless nations throughout its entire history.

  • japan is a country in shame

  • fuck japan

  • As far as I'm concerned, these people will use any excuse and defend that excuse to any extreme in order to keep whaling and killing these beautiful creatures. These people should be ashamed. There is absolutely nothing research-worthy or for any other use that justifies murdering whales and other similar living creatures. And I agree with "deadfishfloating" that Japan brings utter shame upon itself for having betrayed science and insulting other human beings with their lies.

  • Don't you know that US is killing the beautiful nature most? Can I proove that? shore. Who produce CO2 most on the earth? Who still keep producing the guns most to kill people? Yeah!

  • USA is master at deception.

Someday, positive that pay back with interest.

  • Shame on you Japan your actions have betrayed science and shamed you country.

    Nice work.
