*This* is what I think despairing young GLBT people need to hear: not that it'll just "get better" on its own-- as if by magic-- as soon as you reach some arbitrary benchmark like graduating high school or whatever. It doesn't just happen. Things improve because you work at them. Things improve through your own effort and choice and will. You've gotta fight back, and build yourself up.
In short, you have to *make* things better, not just sit on your butt waiting for it to happen.

I have to say that I have been in a quite a serious state of depression for quite awhile now, and this video was so eye-opening. I love your attitude and philosophy on life, and I am going to strive to start thinking more like you. You are so right. I can choose to wallow in my circumstances or realize all the good around me. If you can believe it doesn't get better after watching this then you must have it on mute. :] Charming, perky, positive. I honestly do feel better just having watched it. The fact that it's not some huge pity party, but instead it pretty much says get up, stand up, move forward and don't look back. It kind of has to get better if you think about it like that because it really does start right this very moment... and having watched this, yeah, it just got better. Time to replay!

*This* is what I think despairing young GLBT people need to hear: not that it'll just "get better" on its own-- as if by magic-- as soon as you reach some arbitrary benchmark like graduating high school or whatever. It doesn't just happen. Things improve because you work at them. Things improve through your own effort and choice and will. You've gotta fight back, and build yourself up.
In short, you have to *make* things better, not just sit on your butt waiting for it to happen.

I've watched this video so many times, I think I have it memorized. I know everyone has been saying something along these lines but I'll say it again anyway. You are an AMAZING man. The way you talk to people is on a different level than all of the other videos. When you post videos it feels like you actually understand what people are going through. Its not easy to say its better NOW if you have to go to school and be bullied everyday and be humiliated. it does get better after high school, after moving out, and having a life of your own. It does and IT WILL GET BETTER
