  • I want to cry and headbang at the same time.

  • my girlfriend bought us two tickets to see them on their very last tour. they took songs that even on their albums werent heavy and they pumped so much energy into them it made them just explode

  • this is a song like probably everyone has said , where you can watch the world run past you while you stand there watching how life is grown and then destroyed, where a piece of land is made into a town then destroyed by some bombs then rebuilt ...

  • i love to read all of the beautiful comments. everyone speaks something true from their heart<3

  • one of my favorites on the album as well

  • goodnight.

  • Comment removed

  • I saw 240p and was like oh no. then i quickly remember this is THRICE which automatically makes it 1500HDDOLY5.0. And then add perfect music x 4. THRICE for LIFE.

  • 4:57 I was sure I was drowning...

5:12 Someone pulled my head out of the water.

  • No singing =(

  • @tonightwehavefun Thrice doesn't need singing to make great music.

  • @gofusiesbass09

    mother fucking right.

  • im not trying to take away from the greatness of this album by saying this(because its a masterpiece regardless)... but if you're on acid, staring at the stars on a clear night..... it doesn't get any better.

  • @morethanmarvin1

does not get any better indeed.

should be a national past time.

  • The Alchemy Index is probably the greatest piece of art in modern time, I'm dead serious. Thrice might not be well-known, but somehow I like that! There's just a few of us that get to experience this genius band, and we are not greedy, people are just ignorant.

  • This really is the shit when you're tripping out, guys. I listened to these guys and Incubus for five hours straight on a bad trip, I remember listening to this song specifically and feeling my body pulsate all over, my hot blood flow through my veins, my heart about to jump out of my chest. It really helped bring me back down and kept me in the real world.

  • I love this album, recently got into thrice and I usually listen to black metal and progressive metal but I honestly find this shit so peaceful... I still prefer vhiessu sometimes but damn dude I love this

  • Incredible song, from one of the greatest and most under-appreciated albums of all time.

  • A perfect song. I love the water disk. Water is always the best element. Emotional, deep, sensitive, and soothing.

  • This song has no lyrics, yet says so much.

  • if only my speakers could get louder.....i would be deaf

  • this song reminds me of Oceansize. not comparing, just saying.

  • listening to this on shrooms was a hell of an experience

  • @rjdrays288

My friend, please stop doing drugs. When your mind is in such a state, you open yourself up to demonic influences.

Please repent from your wicked ways and trust in Jesus Christ, who died for you on the cross. He deserves all of your worship.

  • @ReliefForJapan Despite what you may believe, there are some drugs that can really open your mind and give you a diff. perspective on life. I learned a lot from some drugs and had some very spiritual experiencers but i don't do them anymore. All I'm saying is that this song was pure bliss when i was tripping balls.

  • @rjdrays288

There is no good drug. You very well may have learned a lot, and had some spiritual experiences, but those things were not of Jesus. They were of satan.

It's good that you don't do drugs anymore, but you need to repent from all of your sins and put your trust in Jesus to be saved!

  • @downtoawhisper You are fucking pathetic.

  • Perfect thinking music.

  • the water index was made on garage band for the mac. This drum beat is identical to classic rock beat 01 in the garageband software.

  • @iaintnofish Have you ever thought for two seconds that the band's DRUMMER may have recorded that beat? Bands have drummers for a reason.

  • @iaintnofish You're retarded.

  • where is the love button on here

  • Thrice fans are lunatics, getting all philosophical and sh!t...

  • @z31club This is a philosophical sounding song.

  • @z31club I'm a Thrice fan, and I fucking second this. Most people I've met that fit this description are actually just retards trying to sound wise but they just melt their brains with bullshit.

  • me and my friends used to listen to this with blankets over our heads high as shit

  • @jessesetsfire hell yeah thrice is the shit when your high :)

  • Is it weird that I listen to this when I go to sleep because it makes me imagine that I am actually diving in a peaceful ocean at night?

  • Comment removed

  • @fallforthesky11 no, i do the same shit. :) like on 'open water', i imagine drifting out on a boat into calm water. then i look up to the sky and then down to the water and i think , which way is really up? (it doesn't matter) the horizon and sky just blend in and are both so magnificent outside of society and city lights. they are something special and of their own nature. just listen, and let all of our imaginations run freely. i think it's so good for you. one day, really want to do this . .

  • @killiotta1 This whole EP does that for me really, especially this song, Open Water, and Digital Sea. The Whaler is incredible too, best song they've ever written in my opinion.

  • @fallforthesky11 dude i was thinking that last night as i was falling asleep, best song to fall asleep to hands down

  • i'm the one who disliked it.

  • I think my favorite song is Under Par, by Thrice. It shows a sense of hatred for some person, one who is unknown but you know that the idea is that Dustin does not live up to that person's expectations. I feel that way about the whole world, that it is corrupt and I am the only one who is "pure" I am not religious, but I do believe in leading a more pure or good life. Thanks you Thrice, you have made songs that explain how I feel, as if you have written them FOR me.

  • yeah goosebumps..

  • a reflection song in my eyes, or ears should i say

  • Musical Perfection.

  • @TheSodaPopAndRitalin noooob

    this sucks/boooooring

  • 0:00 free replay<3

  • the most beautiful song i have and ever will hear<3 0 dislikes:D it makes you feel...euphoric<3

  • Comment removed

  • this song is sick

  • Thrice's Water songs are always the best. Not just from the Alchemy Index, but other songs like Atlantic and Red Sky that are about the sea.

  • I think ive felt every emotion to this song. but at the end of it, nothing but a peaceful mind to be had

  • @dvbaseball5 awesome!! ^.^

  • Reminds me of Devin Townsend -- Thing Beyond Things -- another great song!

  • this song is awesome listening to in the car and driving at night. the word cruisin' comes to mind every time i hear this song. which means the song is AWESOME!! lol

  • thrice masters every style of music they play

  • Wow.

  • this melts me

  • I sense alot of Isis influence

  • @skrutzblug First thing I thought of when I heard this song years ago, definitely not a bad influence to have.

  • 5:12 gave me goose bumps holy crap. These guys are my inspiration.

  • fucking hypnotic

  • if you like this song, you will probably like "Black mud" by the black keys

  • Euphoric.

  • I love how this song shares the experience as the diver resurfaces for air and hears all the loud noise of our world and the crew above. And then he plunges below again to the calm abyss! I can just see all the air bubbles coming up and the ocean life swimming around when I hear this! What a fantastic adventure.

  • @blinkyyabos I love the way you put that- a fantastic adventure. i think that is the way i've always felt about music but haven't been able to describe it quite as well.

  • This... This is the song you listen to when your driving along the coast (I'm a so Cal dude) at night and find a quiet area in a park next to the water and just... let it wash away everything in your mind, and in your soul...

  • When i go out on late night bike rides i play this song. It makes me think of good things, my family, my friends, the girl i have a crush on, my future. however it also makes me think of sad times, but when i hear the music tempo go up at 4:00 i start peddling like no other, like a fckn lion was chasing after me.

  • I wish more people could experience this type of music. it would do the world good.

  • 0 dislikes? people are starting to like good music

  • I've never head a story crafted so beautifully before without the use of words.

  • Diving at night makes me hard.

  • This is one of the most beautiful and melancholy songs I've ever heard.

  • Driving home on my bike from work at 3 AM along the coastline. Earth, Water & Air are the ideal soundtracks. I love thrice, hope to see them on Pukkelpop if I'll be able to get me a ticket.

  • Staring at the clouds moving across the moon tonight. Broken hearted and sinking into the black, but this song is a ray of Sun shining through the darkness..

  • Nothing better for me than listening to this song while riding my motorcycle late at night when no one is on the road, laid out and cutting into curves. Helps me let go of the problems of the day

  • @Agnoeo Same for me! however I ride my bicycle late at night through tall trees.

  • This album is a masterpiece

  • This song has no need for lyrics. And a rap to it? ARE YOU FUCKIN KIDDING ME?

  • @actionmarkers88 Thats what whatshisface wanted to do, and I'm getting attacked by chat boxes for telling him that it's a dumb idea. Curse my correctness. :x

  • if you ever actually go night diving (scuba diving at night) you will come to an understanding of this song in its entirity

  • this song makes you fell like water

  • @SPARTONmAn i believe that is the idea

isnt it amazing how they capture the feeling through music

  • EVERYONE. LISTEN TO THIS WHOLE ALBUM WHILE WATCHING PLANET EARTH! it actually works perfectly i promise you that. you have to start it just as the sun is coming out from behind the earth

  • I like it..

  • Most rap is terrible, this is directed at Therealsidguy and LittleShyell, of course. And especially when you take a song like this and believe that its Ok to go "Hey mah niggs up in the hos" to a song thats supposed to be instrumental. Sampling is awful. Don't do it. Rap is awful. Don't do it. We already have enough corrupted little kids. I was swimming and I heard this little kid tell some teenager to "Suck my dick."

  • THRICE= MY ALL TIME FAVORITE BAND! this track is absolutely beautiful.

  • Comment removed

  • Wow is all i got to say, I am really glad they didnt put any lyrics to it. its perfect the way it is

  • This song is breathtaking! Whenever I'm stressed, angry, sad, or depressed I listen to this and it all just melts away; it's so soothing. Thank you, Thrice.

  • One of the most gutwrenching songs of all time;I get cramps in my heart hearing this song. It's so excellent.

  • This is probably my most favorite song out of everything, it's soo beautiful, expecially if you have ever experianced night diving in person. It really reminds me of it; relaxed, strange and amazing.

  • isnt this song on kyle xy?

  • man thrice is purely amazing, cant find words to describe them, but i hope to go diving to this song sometime in my life :)

  • i want to die to this song.

  • Nice Song !

  • This was beautifully done, it's like a giant soundscape.

  • thrice is fucking awesome. im writing a rap song to this... its some serious shit. so like when i upload it id like all thrice fans to hear it too! this is a masterpiece in all aspects

  • when you make it email it ova lets check er out

  • most definitely. just know that im the first one to make a rap remix of Night Diving with my own lyrics. its gonna be called EARN WHAT IS GIVEN and yes it is as epic as it sounds. look for it soon!!

  • @THEREALSIDGUY Do not ruin the song by adding lyrics or making a rap version. If anything, not rap. Rap is nothing more than these anagrams and jokes. Retards Attempting Poetry, Rap is but a C away from Crap, Roy Ate Poo, and Rap also makes little kids cry.

  • @TheFirstCharlie wow thats very offensive... and the song will definitely be completed with or without your rude comment. i love thrice. and im sure Dustin Kensrue would approve of my lyrics. You are right. rap you hear on the radio IS crap and im completely against it... But im an underground artist. and ive just completed all the lyrics very recently. I hope you give it a chance at least. So look for it SOON!

  • @TheFirstCharlie: I'm not a rap fan either, but saying that all rap is terrible is just ridiculous. It's like someone who hears a few songs on a mainstream rock radio who, based on that, decides that all rock is awful. Obviously most of what you hear on top 40-centered stations is going to be crap, regardless of genre. You have to search a little deeper to find some truly good music. Case in point, Thrice.

  • where -does-trust-go?

    well-if-you-must-know

    it-died-when-you lied.....

    lying-to-my-face

    you-are-such-a disgrace

    lying-straight-to-my face....

    Where does trust go?

    darling you must know

where all this trust did go

  • i sat on a beach with a J and chilled out so hard when i first heard this song, incredible

  • this is probably the most watery one.

  • Either this or Open Water is my favorite (at least off the Water Index).

  • truly a chill song :()

  • man...this song just washes away all the darkness and loneliness in your heart...

  • @harukiigarashi Couldnt have put it better myself :D

  • @harukiigarashi i totally agree....

  • epic

  • Dustin is whispering in this song? Which parts?

  • starting at 3:10 through 4:00

  • man my bro showed me this song and told me to close my eyes and boom...i had a state of total nuetrality...if i spelled it right.

  • and does anybody know how to play this?

  • which part? the lectric guitar part or the melody?

  • both of them, actuall it's pretty easy all you gotta do is tune the E sting to C and drop D the rest.

  • I can. I learned it by ear.

  • cool

    Drop C though

  • Does anybody know what Dustin is whispering?

  • this song has personal meaning to me, i love this song

  • the glockenspiel (spell check) that they use reminds me of bubbles

  • i imagine one of those turn of the century diving equipment man, just like in Red Rackam's Treasure from Tintin.

I imagine that diver exploring the deep ocean, encountering whales and a lost city - with a lightning backdrop and green mist. . . . EPIC !

  • I wish more people would respect instrumental music. A lot of people think it's boring cause there's no words, but i think music like this can say more than words.

  • Yes, the experience varies from person to person. Gaurunteed each is excellent. I have a bro who said he pictures driving in the ocean at night, then during the guitar riffs, a shark finding himself in his way...this band rocks.

  • Bleh. Change each "drive" to "dive". I know not how I messed/typoed that up...

  • @vivtin hell yeah, check out our stuff it's instrumental, if you like this i think youll like it

  • @vivtin

I'm actually quite the opposite. I wish people would shut the fuck up and let the music speak for itself.

  • @vivtin I wouldn't say that instrumentals can say more than songs with lyrics. I just think it's a different kind of words, one more open to intepretation. The people of today have no imagination, they can't interepret songs like this, so they don't enjoy them...

  • @vivtin Every time I hear a song, a vision accompanies it in my head. I honestly think that the visions are more open-minded with the less lyrics to guide them =>

  • @vivtin Definitely! There's some incredible bands out there that don't use any lyrics in their songs. It's just too bad that they'll never get the attention they deserve due to the reason you just stated. :[

  • I feel sorry for those who have never listened to Thrice. If only they knew..

  • from metalcore in the illusion of safety to this.. stoner music.. haha, it's beautiful

  • trully a master peice

  • I love going to bed and leave my computer on playing the whole Water disc... is so relaxing =)

  • I like to play it while laying in bed for the night too.

  • You have got to try walking on the beach at night listening to it. It's an amazing experience.

  • I love this song. It really does remind me of a dive at night, and running into danger in the middle (the harder guitar), and then out again.

  • eh...

  • couldnt be better. great song

  • this is one of my favorite thrice songs^^ its so calming. I remember listening to it while hunting shooting stars one night.

  • damn, thats cool.

    i love the stars.

  • by the way i think this is one of there best songs because they dont even need lyrics for it. It is perfect for the name it self

  • That's what I like about it. It tells a story with two words, something most musicians can't do with an Album's worth of titles and lyrics. That's why I like Thrice; they know how to make music and make it interesting.

  • This would be so sweet to open up a show with this song
