Unfortunately in many parts of this world oppression of women still exists along with ignorant beliefs in superior sex, race, sexuality, religion, etc. And it is only the most insecure and weak men that oppress women. Simply because they are too scared to see a woman succeed in something that these men can never achieve.
In the past dark times of oppression women didn’t have access to education, studies ,even political voting. And even then many women were secretly studying and succeeding,writing, discovering. Many of these talented women could not get their work recognized or published only because they were women. In those cases men from their family (husbands, brothers) would often take all the credit for her work. Until there was enough proof and evidence that men and women are equally capable of innovation.

However, I do not believe that women are without oppression. In the United States, in Europe, in Middle East, or in Asia, women are still feeling the affects of oppression today, the difference is the degree in which they are oppressed.

Most women who set out to pursue careers later on prefer to be at home with their kids and support their husbands from home and give up on their careers. Truly, there are double standards against men, and there should be more effort to explore those issues, but just because you feel you are victimized (even if in some cases you are right) doesn't mean that you should villanize movies that are sympathetic towards women's rights.
I'm glad you somewhat got my point. I don't disagree there are cases of abuse against women. However the bigger issue I have in mind is that these cases of abuse are being used to paint entire groups of men as evil; normal everyday men who's women and children love them. This exploration has been done countless times, can you imagine what kind of picture this paints to the mindless masses if repeated enough times to them?
@StuntXL To be honest, growing up as a self-proclaimed feminist in a western society my views have pretty much been like this my whole life, just shifted a little over the years. And I know this may seem off-topic but I notice that once I simply changed the name of my views from feminist to egalitarian and nothing else I got infinitely more respect. But it can't be ignored that women in some countries are treated awfully, for no reason but ignorance. In the past dark times of oppression women didn’t have access to education, studies ,even political voting. And even then many women were secretly studying and succeeding,writing, discovering. Many of these talented women could not get their work recognized or published only because they were women. In those cases men from their family (husbands, brothers) would often take all the credit for her work. Until there was enough proof and evidence that men and women are equally capable of innovation.

Very little areas exist where women dominate men in. My view is we're supposed to be partners that compliment one another with women being the supplementary yet essential sex.
