360 Hp did not have solid lifters, did not have an aluminum intake and it had an open face breather plus an alternator not a generator. The 66 Chevelle came stock with 2 engines a 325HP and a 360HP. There was a 375 HP, the only one with solid lifters that was available in a few cars. when I bought my new one in 66 the 375 was a dealer installed option. Don't know where this fellow got his information, but quite a bit of it is incorrect.
As far a Hp on your 396,they start with 325 hp,360 hp and then 375 hp.12 is correct for SS,anywhere from 3.31:1 to 3.73:1 gears.of course the grill badges hood, tail light filler panel, rear end,and even engine can disguise a normal chevelle from a true SS car, remember that 68-72 chevelles the SS was an option like Air conditioning ,or bucket seats,in 66 and 67 SS was a different MODEL,not an option. If anyone has more info or that I have anything wrong here, plz post here.
138 is for chevelle SS.period.ways to tell .Vin tag,as you saw here,on firewall, also on door pillar 138 should also be there.and if you still have the originals rear1/4 s on the car, look up inside the trunk on the rear 1/4 and you should find 138 stamped as well,on the part after the crown, that goes back to the trunk lid.
This guy should do his home work. Much of the information in this video is incorrect.
