  • Fortunately, this cartoon was revived in the cartoon series "Casper and Friends" in 1990.

  • The first pairing of them.

  • It is hard to believe anyone would even criticize a cartoon ! Sad that so many people have no life !!

  • H&K are nowhere near as good as Tom & Jerry!

  • I remember as a kid, I hated these cartoons—all the Harveytoons, Casper, Herman & Katnip, Baby Huey, etc. Even as a five year old I knew they sucked and they haven't improved with age. They did have good voice actors like Arnold Stang, but the cartoons themselves sucked.

  • @RRaquello Agree 100%. Even when I was a little kid I knew these were the cheapest cartoons ever made. The Brady Kids was equally awful.

  • For what its worth, I have always felt that Famous Studio cartoons and their characters were severly under-rated!!!

  • Look at the cartoon around the 5:18 mark. Poor animation shows Katnip's feet and tail laying on the floor as he begins to walk. Hard to believe that they didn't catch this!!!

  • @MrScottx That's amazing. They left the cels on the pegs when they shot it. That is the very definition of sloppy.

  • @MrScottx You have to remember how time-consuming animation was in those days. It's likely they noticed it, but didn't want to waste time and resources going back and fixing it.

  • along with Tom and Jerry Herman and Katnip is the BEST cat and mouse cartoon EVER q:D

  • Leonard Maltin and other cartoon historians were very critical of the HERMAN AND KATNIP cartoons. They said they were of deplorable quality.

  • When was this on Boomerang?

  • The Harvey Films version of this (old style) does not carry the title card - presumed lost.

  • Tom and Jerry is to Herman and Katnip

    what

Meryl Streep is to Paris Hilton.

  • @maldicientin Yeah - older looking and more boring.

  • @subliteral More boring?!

  • wanna know something

this is edited the same way it is on the DVD collection

they used to show this on KBHK tv late 70's early 80's-but now they edited all this stuff & show it on here-Boomerang

    just not the same

  • This was the first of the official "Herman & Katnip" series (originally released as a "Noveltoon" in November 1950). Directed by Seymour Kneitel, music by Winston Sharples, voices by Arnold Stang, Sid Raymond, and Jack Mercer. No, Katnip's not "dead"- only he came close to it at times, and actually DID perish at the end of one {"..and if you feed them, you'll win your wings!"}.

  • Um, wait, is... Is Katnip dead? I think he's dead... He seems dead.... WHY IS HE DEAD?!?! 50'S cartoon characters don't die! (Outside of disney movies.) IT'S AGAINST THE RULES!!!

    4:44 FACE PHOOOOOONE!!!!!!

  • Of COURSE he's dead!! Didn't you just see what he went through? What if you had to go through that in EVERY SINGLE CARTOON?? Tom & Jerry was never this bad!!

  • Film historian Lenny Maltin hates this "Herman & Katnip"

    Christmas Movie cartoon..but I like it. Especially,when "Herman"clobbers "Katnip"..we always

cheer for the little guy giving the villian what he deserves.

  • Why is the audio only heard on the left side? This needs to be re-posted.

  • What are these mice doing with a turkey anyway? They're herbivores.

  • @PQleyR Wrong, they're omnivores.

  • I thought the cat would expect how his aunt found out where he went to.

  • suc delicious violence

  • that is how it is in these cartoons

  • thanks for the vid! have not seen in years!!
