Not to undermine the time she spent learning this, but that's why I don't like these videos that much. The song, whilst technically correct, sounds so broken, it's not beautiful.
Sadly, Beethoven, other than Bach-who I both love very much-, cannot simply be played mechanically. They're completely different. You have to FEEL and SEE the music beyond the notes. I can see a story written in the notes.
I'd spend more time interpreting the work of art than playing it fluently. That's what it's about.
How did you reach those big stretches in the bass when you were that young? I mean, if I remember correctly, there are 9th and 10th chords in the bass. Did you just leave some notes out?
Wonderful melody, brilliant performance (a little girl 7 yrs old, ha? omg), but I think a bass strike notes much better performed (I mean emphasized) by some other instruments like ... (here I need some help from some classical musicians :-))))
What difference does it make how old a person is? As if the younger you are the more impressed people will be.Its not like the child just started playing, no matter what age you are you have to practice. After years go by if she sticks with it she will be like the other hundreds of piano players out there.
Hm....someone know a piano music that i forgot? Its about a guy who use piano songs to calm his rage and he also destroy the piano too.Hes pretty dead by now too.I want to know the music he play when he was in rage ):
she played it moderately smooth... but when the tunes are too long, it becomes rough touch somewhere... but nice and proper tunes, not enough feeling, excellent for overall.... i dont think she would brag herself, if noone would not praise her improper too

@playmorebluegrass This piece I can't remember exactly how long it took to memorize. I'm guessing it took around a month at least because there were some technique she had to build along the way. This performance was done after she had it learned in her repertoire for about 8 months. In fact, one useful thing is to learn the piece as quickly as possible, then forget it for a few months, then go back to it again. It always sounds a lot better the second learning. This is what we did here.
geez, I'm also seeing all of these negative comments. Sometimes there are pushy parents that force their children to do this. But there are also children that LOVE this. It's all they want to do, it's what they're natural at. My brother was the same way. If it's what she truly loves, KEEP IT UP!
When I was 7 I was learning the notes, could hold the violin, learn pizzicato and I was 8 when I first got home my own violin and no one in my family had ears for music...and I still one of the finest musicians in my class, I was tought what could be learned to play then I could choose which pieces I wanted to perform...

When I see any of these videos (young children playing advanced pieces) i groan inwardly. No child of 7 has enough emotional maturity to play any piece of music to any degree worth listening to. That said however, i applaud the talent here. I wish that i had enough discipline to practice in the way she obviously has and the fact that she played it slower than normal so that it was a polished performance is very mature, to many people rush. in 20 years time an excellent pianist could appear...
Everybody who commented on this negatively should grow up. If someone has accomplished something worth bragging about, what is wrong with that? Obviously, there is no lack of talent displayed, so stop making someone feel bad. It might annoy you that someone can play this at such a young age. But thats not Larson piano or her daughterrs fault. So suck it up, and stop being so jealous. jeez people...
I can see that many here are aggravated that this might not be the childs decision, but isnt it how we are raised that determines what our interests are? My parents forced me into piano at a young age, (4.1/2 years old), but i always had a choice to quit, and therefore was able to pursue piano and like. And if she has perfect pitch? That is so rare and incredible I'm glad its not going to waste. But I am jealous of her, cause the memorization is unfathomable. Awesome. Continue this.
"I would speculate at least 100 times faster than average. Having perfect absolute pitch is an inborn gift, which makes such things possible."
"You won't find a better one on YouTube for this age!"
A little conceited much? I do agree your daughter is talented, but bragging about such things will only make people hate you (or at least dislike you) more. In your effort to praise your daughter, you belittle all others below her talent. Intentional or not, please watch out for those things.
@LarsenPiano 1st of all, I'd like to say that this little girl is amazing! You must be so proud of her. Anyway, I read bellaswan's comment, and I think there's been a misunderstanding. @PattyChedda What a load of bollocks, all parents should be proud of their child and not have to feel guilty about it. Why would you watch videos on youtube if you are defensive about people proudly showcasing their child's wonderful talent? I don't think putting a video on youtube with those comments conceited, I'm glad this video is here for us to all enjoy and for other young children to aspire to if they desire.
It's always a pleasure to watch a good effort at the piano from someone so young, though this is obviously a far cry from how a matured pianist would attempt this piece =S Keep playing!
The fact that she's attempting this monstrous piece is a feat in itself, and is to my taste completely insane..but she's playing it like shit, so don't worry too much..Her left hand sounds like a battering ram..
I started piano at age 5 cuz I wanted to... I practice a lot cuz I likee the piece I have... This!:D lol:) us asians... Trust me, I'm not brainwashed and I don't have super pushy parents:/
I suggest that if you can't play masterpieces like this up to speed, then you shouldn't be playing them at all. While I appreciate how good you are at piano, playing pieces at a turtle pace just sounds bad. Try some slower pieces, and keep up the good work.
Why is everytime you hear a kid playing piano amazingly (like this girl here) everyone complains about "lost of a childhood?" I mean come on, just because she can play good doesn't mean she's losing any of her childhood. I mean, I would have loved to have started playing at her age!
God, I hate all these stupid (not to mention presumptuous and rude) comments about "lost childhood". What's more fun than playing the piano? She obviously enjoys it a lot!
I Think she was to young to play the sheet. This can she play when she was 15 or in the age around. This music need more speed. But for her age respect.
Is she getting any sleep? There's no way she should be able to play like this at her age without having to practice day and night or at least hours on end. You shouldn't make a kid this young practice so much. It takes far too much out of the child's childhood and enjoyment. Does she still get to do normal things that normal kids do at her age? I'm guessing not.
At that time, she was practicing about a couple hours a day. I know it sounds hard to believe, but her ear and mental quickness at the piano is fast. Compared to other kids her age, I would speculate at least 100 times faster than average. Having perfect absolute pitch is an inborn gift, which makes such things possible.
@LarsenPiano As a guy who has practiced piano in my spare time for going on two years now (and having just turned 27 last march), I can say that this video is a demonstration of major talent, and not necessarily slave-driven work on behalf of the parents.
After a lot of practice on a simpler version, I can barely play half this good. This sort of thing takes a lot of practice, yes; but at age seven, this sort of thing is impossible if the child does not love what they are doing.
@LarsenPiano i have been told plenty of times through my life that i have perfect pitch. I believe myself that perfect pitch is a myth. But yes, i also admire her devotion and love for music. I like her way of playing the piece from 5:12>end. Admirable little master:D.
@LarsenPiano Absolute pitch is not born. It is created. It may seem inborn because it was probably attained before. Have you exposed her to classical music before she began playing? Listening to classical music improves absolute pitch without actually playing it.
@asarea1 are you implying I have a child of my own? I'm only 15 for crying out loud! I've got years ahead of me before I even bother having a child! I mean I think it's amazing she can play like that but I was only saying to be that good means hours and hours of practice. I was only showing some worry.
@bellaswan111 dude, i'm 19 and i deeply regret not being forced to practice the whole time. now, not only am i not normal, but I also have to practice every waking moment hoping some day to be half as good as she is in this video. wasted so much of my life playing video games
She's adorable! Even though the piece may not be as fluid as some of you would like it to be, it will come with time as all pieces do. Her learning and technique shall continue to develop over time. And stop this none sense saying that she is probably already ''brain washed''. Just because very young children can play difficult pieces DOES NOT mean that they do not have fun or enjoy their childhood. Many of them play like all other normal children do. What are your children doing?!
I think children have a much easier time understanding the "musical temper tantrums" of Beethoven than the refined Viennese elegance of Mozart. Mozart is extremely tricky. This is an awesome effort for a child barely 7 years old. You won't find a better one on YouTube for this age!
i don't think there is anything sad about how much this girl practices. music lessons teach children discipline, and that hard work will be rewarded. go Anna! keep up your practice!!
I'm on your side, there is something inhuman(e) about this 7 year old being that good piano. Childhood is our time in Eden, it's to be enjoyed with innocent and freedom, not Discipline and goal seeking. Life doesn't end at the onset of adulthood.- Anna enjoy your childhood, it's o.k. to practice, but when it becomes a burden, just chill and play.
No different than the kid's parents who make him study in his room 70% of his life. What kind of childhood is your room and paper? That's a lost childhood too, but both take you somewhere later on in the future.
Sad. This is exactly what I thought watching this video! My 6 yo daughter's been taking music lessons for a year and I know what learning music for a child is even if a child is a gifted one. Children are diffrent from adults - they cannot be sitting for hours working like adults do (yet not any) . Their state of mind isn't ready yet.
So watching this lovely little lady playing that good it's really hard to imagine that she might be occupied with anything else except playing piano. Sad.
She obviously enjoys it else the music would not come out like it does, you cannot force virtuosity it is born out of love for the music, better than sitting on the couch watching television stuffing her face with junkfood and playing video games. This girl will go far. plus her mother says she only does 2 hours practise, this is quite feasible that would be the equivalent of 10 sections of 20 minutes focused practise which is quite optimum for building these skilss at this age
@jimmychuang gosh I misread something, I thought you were beating the neighbor's *chickens* and had to ponder on that one for a moment... oh sheesh and here I am trying to improve my music sight reading abilities!! lol.
at 2:02 it sounded like the song from anastasia the animated movie "HAVE YOU HEARD! theres a rumor in st. petersburgh. HAVE YOU HEARD! What they're saying on the streets!"
5* from me for a terrific effort Anna. This was about two years ago and look at you now. Solid proof of what dedication can achieve. Reach for the stars pretty girl.
I heard that AR Rahman was just 7 years old when he started playing piano for leading music composers in India. Today he is nominated for Oscars for his music in the movie Slumdog Millionare. He has already bagged Gloden Globes , Bafta and some other awards this year. Request everyone to encourage this little kid so that one day she can make a name for herself.
Thanks for your kind comments! I hope she can meet someone like AR Rahman someday for inspiration. Anna does some composing, and I hope she can have that kind of opportunity some day :)

I'm not making any comments that decides every child without clues, but at least this child
this piece requires more speed and force as a regular Beethoven piece, and I don't think any child except prodigies would have controlled them well
The feeling of piece is not quite right
I don't say she's not good now or in future
I suggest you telling her to play Mozart pieces instead, they should get how the pieces should be interpreted more easily
alexlisiulun 1 year ago 7
@alexlisiulun
I think children have a much easier time understanding the "musical temper tantrums" of Beethoven than the refined Viennese elegance of Mozart. Mozart is extremely tricky. This is an awesome effort for a child barely 7 years old. You won't find a better one on YouTube for this age!

@alexlisiulun totally 125% agreed.

i don't think there is anything sad about how much this girl practices. music lessons teach children discipline, and that hard work will be rewarded. go Anna! keep up your practice!!

Expressoblood 2 years ago
probably she's already brainwashed that its normal for a 8 year old to practice 3 hours a day -.-"
npham91 2 years ago
lol look at the piano and see the children in the reflection, they look so bored.

She's good.. much better than me.. but it feels like she's rushing it.. or at least not really feeling that music flow through her completely..
she's great nonetheless, though!

Methinks the one who has supposedly "lost childhood" is not Anna.
hungkok2007 2 years ago
@hungkok2007

Sad.

@OwnageChicken i'm glad attitudes like this weren't around to discourage mozart writing quartets at this age
TheJadePinwheel 1 year ago
@OwnageChicken lost chilhood you idiot...isnt playing piano better that playing useless video games?
gmatar 1 year ago
@OwnageChicken

I heard that AR Rahman was just 7 years old when he started playing piano for leading music composers in India. Today he is nominated for Oscars for his music in the movie Slumdog Millionare. He has already bagged Gloden Globes , Bafta and some other awards this year. Request everyone to encourage this little kid so that one day she can make a name for herself.
flavniad3 3 years ago
Thanks for your kind comments! I hope she can meet someone like AR Rahman someday for inspiration. Anna does some composing, and I hope she can have that kind of opportunity some day :)
