  • Great video....also go to: make money fasts dot com

  • @korvix: Neither Facebook nor Google are businesses without prices. Users such as yourself and myself are the product, not the customers... :-)

  • VCs don't want you to know how to grow your business. they want you to need them to do that part. In turn, you lose the company and become a hacker employee.

  • it's pretty cool, but there is place for businesses without prices...

    think facebook or google

anyways for a beginner entrepreneur it might be better to scratch and itch, and then solve that itch to 1,000 people that pay you month after month.

after you make your million bucks, you can move on to bigger, no price projects

  • He's superawesome for quoting Eric Cartman!

  • "There is only one success - to be able to spend your life in your own way."

  • We have the same last name,,, im brian heinemeier,, im curious were yo got the heinemeier name from?|??\

  • Why he is fcking yelling ?

  • Why he is fcking yelling ? Damm his voice sucks!

  • 21:10

    SELLING SHOES. Looooooooool.

  • Most of the "big" companies like facebook and google sold their "soul" to the devil for quick success. They usually get help from places up high with a lot of money.

  • nowhiring.ws

  • I'm laughing my ass off... fortune 5 million!

  • Good speech. Sometimes he sounds like Gilbert Gotfried.

  • I would really love to see the those slides at least!

  • 25:35 Great achievement and Innovation come from solving simple problems

  • This man drives a custom-built Pagani Zonda

  • @Sandline99

    So?

  • @gosciu555

SO ... not only does he offer good advice, he is also vastly more successful than he lets on, has exceptional taste, and likes a bit of danger in his life. DHH is even more of a cooler person than most realize.

  • This is of practice.

  • This is really practice.

  • Lifestyle business is definitely much maligned. Nothing wrong with running a company organically.

  • 8:37 classic moment in the history of speeches!!

  • I love how down to earth and genuine this guy is, equally I admire the fact that he is against being the conventional corp puppet. David's brother Jonas is equally inspiring with his filming creations.

  • i want the omnisio.com version of this talk back!!!

not wanting to wait till you googlers build those features into youtube in years from now... you could at least have left omniso up!

    /grumpy

  • Where is the slides???

  • @juliusray123 on the startup site, google this speech it'll be up there, good luck.

  • Fantastic clip

    Some of my friend on

    RENTAFRIEND. COM

told me about this. Really nice.

  • FILM PROPERLY

    and stop shouting

  • This is one of the best business speeches I have ever seen.

  • It took me thirty years to learn what this young man appears to have learned in five and he still knows more than me. Great stuff!

  • dsd

  • Even founder of Facebook says he won't leave Facebook because this is his baby and he isn't smart enough to start another Facebook. Facebook, google etc., were strikes of genius and luck. Not a business model folks. Just another gold rush.

  • @PebbleBreeze I would exclude google from that list but the rest I agree with.

  • I like the line ' they don't have a wave to catch. just happy making money' this is the crux of his talk. Focusing on catching a market 'wave' is risky and not likely to succeed, as well as delusional. Focus on a great product or service, design a price structure and SELL SELL SELL.

  • Small fish are the sweetest

  • Some one like him is most qualifies to be on technology start-up boards.

  • As mentioned by jfrumar in the earlier comments (thanks), this video is available *with slides* on Omnisio.

Since I cannot paste a direct link, a quick google search for "omnisio david heinemeier" will do the job :)

  • LOVE this video

  • I appreciate David's points and really like he other talks. He may come off the wrong way some way, we all do!

I like the breakdown of the economics 101, esp. to the facebook-model-billionaire mindset. Its a mindset, not a viable business plan. David sheds light on good practices for a real business strategy and a successful life.

A breathe of fresh air. Thanks David!

  • @ihateuutube He doesn't have his head up his ass; he's actually pretty uniquely grounded in reality as far as startups go. And in case you you weren't listening, he doesn't want to be a "true tech titan (ttt (C))".

  • @ihateuutube He, and his organization, have already achieved greatness

  • The thing about aiming at the smallest businesses reminds me of the long tail, just the other way around, being the businesses going after the small invidual companies.

  • This talk is hilarious.

  • loved it so much, but very poor quality no screen of the slides and sound was not sync

  • @norik000: the "no slides" means we will have to attend to next meetings like these :)

  • Some real great wisdom on here. There is room between mom 'n' pop and billionaire.

  • Thanks, this guy never fails in motivating me. Now back to work! :P

  • @pepijn744 yeah. I thought of this video and watched it to motivate me too. Nice to know others find it helpful too!

I was working HARD on many websites, then scrapped them to focus on making my own "nice Italian restaurant on the web" (my site vidinotes)

  • Ohh my God...The pitching voice of this kid makes the listening a pure torture...!! Simple unbareable...

  • This video reveals David's simple genius. I have never liked the tech subculture - "Make a billion being bought by Google/Facebook/...whoever." I still think a million is a lot of money. I hope that I would be humbled if I had command of that much wealth. Just solve a problem and make money, create some jobs for goodness sake.

  • I feel both dumb and more motivated after watching this.

  • This is one of the best motivational/entrepreneurial/business presentations that I've ever seen.

    The guy is really good.

  • the video with slides is available on Omnisio (dot com)

  • would be nice if we could see what's on the screen...

  • Great video!

  • Great. Thanks for putting this up.
