  • To slow and siplistic for my taste...

  • Fuck dude, that's was a real productive lesson, i just watched and now i can play like him, Asshole.

  • nice lesson.i v learn it already and i play that exactly the same...hehe

  • el primer video de yngwie malmsteen ke vi, en el 2002.

  • Malmsteen is my idol. Some people say: "Malmsteen has no feeling when he plays, he just play scales faster." So I say to them: "Fuck you, Yngwie has enough feeling to blow up your brain."

  • "so if you wanna play it at home, this is the tune.. e flat"

oh thanks now i can play like this at home! e flat and it works like magic ! lol

  • i love you malmsteen you are a true one of a kind!

  • ke mierda su backing track! D:

  • Mmm ... Not learned, but amazing guitarist!

  • what's that fucking hammering sound? the DRUMS ? ah ah

  • The lick at 2:50 is sick as fuck

  • He likes his necks scalloped, and also his potatoes. He reportedly eats a wheel-barrow full at one sitting. Very talented man.

  • Harmonic minor is a mode? o.O

  • @Ghostman7777 sure! It's the most common minor mode in classical music: minor third, minor 6th and major 7th

  • power overwhelming

  • Yngwie Malmsteen

    god-mode:

    ON [x] OFF [ ]

  • Now I got it. I learned that Malmsteen rocks. :)

  • IF you do wanna play along...

  • This guy has great guitar skills but .... his songs are a bit tiresome to listen to. I mean there is no tempo or pauses or rhythm just straight run ons. I guess some people enjoy this type of music because this guy is famous. To each his own I guess.

  • @MrB17FlyingFortress lol man sooo funny!

  • his Face at 1:38 haha

  • the first rif was similar to one mab did on a double

  • lmao at 0:48 hes looking at the camera and his eyes are saying im better than you and you couldnt play along with this"

    xD

  • haha bitch play along?!

  • His compositions are boring. Dynamically he is boring. If he made better music then his technical proficiency would be more recognized. But what better way to show your skills and ego at the same time when you compose blazing fast scale runs over shitty progressions. I like his skills but his music blows. And I listen to classical music. You faggot self righteous malmsteen fans can suck one, because his music will never meet up to Beethoven or Led Zeppelin. Beware of tendonitis wanna bes.

  • @dubZZish For enjoying this kind of music (pretty much about musicians actually) you have to be musician yourself I think. You can't compare Led Zep' to Malmsteen, different in every point, apple to apple please. Beethov' was such a genius, Malmsteen is cleary not.

  • @dubZZish well mr.malmsteen the second lets see you come up with something

  • "if you DO wanna play along...."

    hey, fuck you yngwie

  • this guy is great....but IMO... paul gilbert takes it for me as the better guitarist

  • I Love This Guy!!!

  • He´s one of the masters of guitar playing. He makes every single note sounding great even at blistering speed.

    Robin :o)

  • sounds like exercises put together. I dont know....Im more into Satriani's playing. tho this guy is good. I recognize....but like I said.....Joe

  • :44 "if you do want to play along" look at his face

  • jaaaaaaaaa Blietzkrieg and it will happened again but this time with yngwie on an Leopard 2 Tank

  • 0.50 - 0.53... strike a tone n look genuinely bored \m/

  • Very great Yngwie, you are the Master!

  • Is it me or his action is very high?

  • A man from Sweden told me that you are not so active in 2010, but I would like to know if you have been experimenting with the sound of Philip Glass. I can imagine you laying down ostinatos on a loop machince, following those repeated figures with a melody, and on top of that accenting the highlights with sustained notes.

  • @jrixtine- You know this isn't Yngwie malmsteen's youtube page right, he's not going to read your comment...

  • Could you upload the other parts of this lesson ?

yngwie rules i love his music he is GOD

  • At 2:25 That is a riff from Nicolo paganini's caprice # 5

I recomend Learning that if u want to play some awesome shit.

Its also featured in the famous Crossroads duel

  • if anyone learned from this you are a god with myth busters high speed cameras lol

  • In regards to string height, low action is exactly the opposite of what Yngwie does. He has tried to get his action as high as possible because you get better sustain. (similar to a violins action which is quite high). He says his action at the 12th fret, the E string is about 4 mm above the fret. and from the wood is about 7mm. That is high'!

  • @Hybridhor o yes but he is tuned in e flat and he uses .08 strings, so the high action isnt complicated like a E tune and .10 strings...

  • To add to the discussion, he is tuned to e flat. All strings are down a semi tone.

Yngwie plays scalloped necks because you get a much better control of vibrato and string bending. Not necessarily to play faster. However I think I play faster with a scalloped neck. You need to use a lighter touch otherwise you will bend the string out of tune. Just takes getting used to.

  • Gotta love these malsteen parodies ! Doesn't he get pissed off at them making out he's such an egotistical twat tho ?

  • Actually he does. Most of the parodies have been removed by Malmsteen Management. I can only find a couple now.

  • what a great lesson !

  • le blüüusde çekiim : ))) this is best!!

  • man

  • he tuned e flat only high e string or all strings ?

i thought he play usually with half tone lower ?

hmm great playing i love his music such an ispiration !

  • :Q___________

  • thx utube...listening to him half of my life and still see new material here.amazing thing is that he is absolutely not! out of breath after these amazing solo´s!!!awesom!!!

  • 1:39 jajaja

  • I didn't know the singer from Heart actually played guitar at all.

This is great. I thought she was American though. Don't know why she'd put on a silly accent like this. Unless she's in disguise of course. That would make sense. She doesn't sing at all though -or play Barracuda.

  • i still dont see the point in having scalloped frets.. people say it helps to play faster but surely the strings never really touch the fretboard anyway??

  • they do everytime you play a note on a regular neck guitar you are touching the fretboard which is why there is the choice of fretboards (i.e. maple, rosewood, ebony etc.). I understand the concept of the scalloped neck but I can't say it would make me any faster, it would probably make me play a lot more notes slightly out of key

  • You don't usually touche the fretboard, I don't on any of my guitars, it's close but you don't quite, but when use vibrato and bends you often do and that's why you scallop fretboards, not so you can play faster cos it doesn't help you play faster at all, it's so you get better vibrato, Yngwie said that in an interview in his recording studio once.

  • the point in scalloped guitars is that you play paying attention to intonation it force you to learn a light touch on the strings(if you press too much it goes sharp)so you learn to have less musce stress, and makes you better in legato technique.the vibrato is better only if you already have a good vibrato technique(notice that players used to normal fretboard tends to use fretboard friction as a reference to make vibrato)also for the bending,is more easy to go out of tune

  • sum:Scalloped fretboard gives you more control over the strings cause you don't have wood friction under fingers, but you must already have a great control of you frethand if you wanna play well on scalloped or you can force to accomplish this ability payng attention to the intonation of notes and the timing of your vibrato(cause you have to get used to the new "frictionless"sensation that change the way you feel the strings

  • If you press too hard on any guitar it'll go sharp. I take it you have a guitar with a scalloped fretboard? Don't you find it a lot easier to get good vibrato when your finger doesn't come into contact with the wood? It feels limitless and that's why many guitarists choose the scalloped fretboard.

  • yes because it depends from the size of the frets(the more big the more you can make the note sharp).however before the first time i played a n YJM i thought my tecnique was good, but when i tried it, i discovered how many things were uncorrect in my playing that a scalloped fretboard can help to correct(like applying the same pressure on all fingers when legato,or a better way to control bendings, playing with a scalloped improved my tecnique.

  • Exactly. I understand that it improves your technique but that's not the reason why most people use them, it's all about the way it feels and the way it sounds, you can hear the difference in Malmsteen's sound that it's unlike any other.

  • you're right, his sound is like no other......

  • the scallops have nothing to do with the actual tone of the guitar, but it does make fast playing and bends LOT easier, while make chords and shit a lot harder (because of squeezing them out of tune is a likelihood). personally, i prefer to have the top 4 or 6th frets scalloped

  • Yeah I know lol... Good choice, that's what Steve Vai does...

  • Actually, scallops make vibrato and bending easier, but playing fast harder for most players.

I find it interesting that you think playing fast is easier with scallops. Intriguing... xP

  • Actually scallops help me a lot. I have a very heavy touch, so I usually end up touching the fretboard which slows my playing down. Keep the action low but scallop the frets and ta-daaaaaaa!

  • Oh, I see! That's very interesting, thanks for sharing. :D I have a heavy touch as well, so I might try out a scallop-fretted guitar next time I get the chance. ^_^

  • Lol you're welcome. Keep in mind that chords are going to be a little harder to do though, since it will be really easy to squeeze them out of tune.

  • honestly i think i play faster on scalloped necks

  • You've been playing for what - a week or sth?

  • It definitly helps...Really...Just a matter of getting used to :-) YJM is THE Man :-)

  • hey there man i think the scalloped arms help to do bends. i'm not sure but i heard this

  • In the intro from 2:10, does he use strict alternate picking (DOWN-UP-DOWN-UP always), or he starts from DOWN stroke when changing strings?

  • i've been playing guitar for 3 years now and i gotta tell u i couldn't find anything harder to practice than yngwie songs

  • He changes quite a lot between pick-up's like the difference it makes to his sound

  • Those are lessons??!? Tnx but no tnx...

  • No it is demonstrations, this is not a lesson video

  • blitzkrieg sounds a little slow... that's odd... normally he plays everything like 50bpm faster, lol

  • BleedTheBlind ... finally a voice of reason crying out in the wilderness. Your reasoning is a rare commodity on these boards. Right on.

  • Yeah. There are many who can play fast. But in the guitar world the proof of the pudding is in the making and not the imitating. Creating such pieces as him and playing those he's already created or cheap and inferior examples of the same style does not make you as good as Malmsteen. He has a very good compositional mind. It isn't easy to convert clasical pieces and influences with rock, metal and blues tones. He's an excellent guitarist! The best is a subjective opinion. It differs for all!

  • @BleedTheBlind Well stated bro! I'm not sure if I've ever heard it put that well man! Good shit.

  • right there are many many awesome guitar players out there but just a dozen are simply unique like hendrix,blackmore,van halen,page,gary moore,michael schenker,uli j.roth,yngwie malmsteen,george lynch(dokken),joe satriani,steve vai,eric johnson,john norum(EUROPE),vinnie moore,jake e.lee,randy rhoads,agnus young,stevie ray vaughn,billy gibbons(zz top) and some more guys

  • @BleedTheBlind , that's not true. The proof of the pudding is NOT the making, or the imitating, is how good or bad is your music. As for the rest, who cares if you play your guitar with your feet ?

As for Malmsteen, no doubt he invented a few techniques, but fuck, he was better when he was 24 than now, back then he was really inspired, now he just plays the same shit. Oh, and did not learn anything new for the last 20 years. How bad is that for an originator.

  • @luigiperso Do you know any musician which doest better after more than 20 years of career than in his first 10 years ? I don't... Malmsteen is not the exception, he's the rule...

  • his sound is hard to learn i like his style

he's got like a classical/metal thing going on

    its awsome

  • The part starting at 5:18 is my favourite..

alota nice arpeggios.. and interesting and cool rythm , listen to everything behind his guitar too, the drums, bass and so on.. really cool and actually Metal sounding stuff. epic!

  • Wow really nice. Love his sound, really nice melody to it.

  • hahaha it'd be sick to hear him play a smash bro's song XD like final destination XD

  • yngwie is a freakin god... try compairing him to other guitarists and a can sorta think of a few but yngwie is amazing man....

  • hahahah

theres plenty of people who can play really fast

  • anyone here play along....anyone...

  • for some reason the tuning portion is hilarious

  • Yeah! I got to see the vid again. Thanx Knus Teddy! XD

  • These are not lessons lol XD... I'm dying lol hahahahaha! Don't get me wrong the guy IS awesome. I love him to death, but damn!

  • I get your point,Yngwie is my hero, but thats just showing off! :p

  • how is that guitar called???

    ´cuz i wanna buy it...........

  • its a fender strat

you can buy it from fender with the scalloped neck at a reasonable price XD

  • and with dimarzio pickups

  • Wth, is this a lesson or a show-off session?

  • It's a demonstration. The user who posted this calls it a lesson, not Yngwie.

  • Fair enough

  • Cut his fingers!

  • fucking WHEEEEE!!!!

  • lmao watch at 1:41 where he looks so random lol when he plays the last note.

yngwie is a great teacher i do love his stuff as well as the likes of paul gilbert because there both different players i do love yngwie's use of the harmonic minor and phyrigian scales tho they sound soooo awesome

  • ¡ Best music teacher ever! It´s very hard to explain.

  • there is a thing called the rewind button hahaha...but seriously...when malmsteen teaches a lesson....his version of slow...is like....'''ok lemme rewind that for a couple of million times''

  • cool

  • I dont care who you are or what you are but maybe you favorite video Cute and Sexy Czech Teen tells something about you! :D Kill your self! AND HAVE A NICE DAY... :)

  • shut up Orderoll, seems you don't know anything about nothing (or "enything", as you says)

  • I prefer Paul Gilbert to Yngwie Malmsteen as well, but that doesn't mean I can't learn a whole ton of things by watching Yngwie play. If you have nothing to learn from Malmsteen then you may as well stop playing.

  • im sure yngwie rly gives a flying fuck about your opinion

  • im with mcbrain on this one!

  • Hey you mofos who flame him.. Why do you watch his videos? anyway...U cant catch a hair of him so piss of fucktards..He was the best guitar player/comboser/virtuoso ... at the age of 18.. *YOU* at the age of 18 ..Can only masturbate...Oh yeah...U can sleep too..

  • i dont exactly get ur message

  • @McbrainisgoD HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!! thums up

  • hes such a tool

  • the video is called full shred not full 'feeling'

  • It's got plenty feeling, dipshit.

  • This is called a lesson, but where's the lesson, actually?

  • i think he sees technique more than he sees music. but thats just my opinion

  • He uses technique and speed to show emotion, you just gotta know music

  • yah, it's a different type of emotion. Just because it's not sorrow or loving...doesn't mean it's not an emotion. He does play those types of tunes every now and then and they really hit home but it's not the trademark that his fans expect and certainly not what he enjoys the most. As far as emotion goes...whenever I'm feeling kind of manic or high strung he's the guy I listen to.

  • Maybe the only type of emotion you like is the emotion you get when you fuck your mother, I don't know.

  • SinfulStuart - Oh, snap!

  • we dont care about your shit anyway

  • i know you don't. i dont care about yours either

  • i think he sees technique more than he sees music. but thats just my opinion

  • fantastic !! incredible !! impressive but useless. i've never heared malsteen playing a tasty tune ala clapton or stevie ray vaughan or mark knopfler. always shredding...

  • Hear one Yngwie Malmsteen song, heard them all.

  • dont get me wrong malmsteen KICKS ASS!!!! but theres only one thing i dont like and thts his songs sound the same like the classical arpeggios and scales but he loves tht so Go Malmsteen!!

  • Ohhhh! It's "In-vehh"!

Excellent production. It's not everyday when you see a guitar video this well produced or In-vehh being that friendly. My fav shredder.

  • He has no emotion in his playing? Listen to Far Beyond the Sun.

  • You don't need emotion when your that good.

  • wahahahah...funny, but bullshit!

  • you don't feel the heart and soul? jeez, what you don't know could fill a book

  • its a instr mental

  • i agree for 100% with andrea0931!!

he has technique and thats all...

but many guitarrists have good technique, maybe others're just less arrogant

he plays it without expression, without musicality

  • "feeling" and "expression" is the excuse for the lack of ear and mediocrity

  • There is an important fact called 'musicality'. If you dont understand this you will not understand my comments.

If he wants to be Paganinni og e-guitar he should also play it with musicality. Without this important element it will be never smth better than techno...

  • yeah but actually If you confuse "musical" with "easily listenable retarded basic structured" we are gonna have some trouble comunicating

Only a wiseass prick will use the stupid excuse of "this is not musical or soulful" for something which is faster or more complex than a 12 bar nigger scales song. All music has a meaning and focus; if someone critisizes it's qualities is because of lack of comprehension and ear ignorance.

  • its not me who confuses musical with easily listenable basic structured...

    most of music IS

    metal normally NOT

    Malmsteen absolutely IS

But seems u really dont hear what he DOESNT have...

so how can you understand my position

  • so then what do you mean by "musicality"?

    please explain.

  • THE BEST

  • Lol, Funny Face At 1:39 ^^

  • I'd sure like to have me a scalloped fretboard like that!

  • Yngwie is the old European classical master....he seems to be born of true blood of the kings of strings. He blows my fuckin' mind.

  • no you just need the tony robbins drive to succede and a time warp machine to get 500 hours of practice in a day

  • i for one am a self-taught guitarist...what i want to know is: do i really need guitar lessons to be this fast??

  • yea for sure get a good classical teacher

  • yea otherwise it would be slow

  • Nice makeup....

  • you watch a video of yngwie playing and comment on makeup? strange people around here...

  • que pasa aqui, que nadie en españa ve esto. que mancha de mamarrachos. eres el mejor despues de richie blackmore.

  • he's almost as big as his ego ;p

  • lol

  • WELCOME TO MY VEEDEEYAOUW !

  • That's right, don't call this a lesson....

  • well, its not a lesson in the conventional way but its nice to pick up some cool licks!

  • Don't call this video a lesson.

  • if he was any faster the guitar would catch fire. are his fingers bleeding yet? very good guitarist ynwie!!

  • way too fast lol

  • hold it ! hold it! You're right-i'm not ready for this....! (seinfeld).
