The Packers is a great franchise, but many of their championships were won in leather helmets & there was not the playoff picture we have today. It was MUCH easier to win with about seven or eight teams in competition. It's MUCH harder today. That was almost a different game. Your franchise deserves credit. Give the Steelers credit for running one of the best ever. They've won the most games since merger & at .612 are only team with over .600 winning percentage since the merger. GO STEELERS
@LombardiTrophy45 My reference point is post-merger because the team wasn't well run prior to that. Everyone knows that. They were lousy. Giants, Packers, Browns were the good teams. The Steelers became winners after Dan Rooney took over & hired Chuck Noll as coach in 1969 and Art Rooney Jr became Personnel Director. Went through a drought w/o a QB in the 80s, but still had a good D. But my point was: fewer teams= easier to win.

Green Bay has more championships than the Steelers, but I believe the game was so different back in the 20, 30s 49s that you have to take that into account & that the playoffs structure today makes the road tougher. # of championships won is only one factor that grades the quality of a franchise. GB is one of the best franchises in NFL. We're best since the merger & are the gold standard now. Just ask your GM.

Film of football games in the late twenties is like watching the Keystone Cops compared to football even in the 60s. There were fewer teams and less competition way back yonder so it was easier to win. Both franchises have been great historically, but the Steelers took running a franchise to another level. If you're gonna say history of the NFL, you can't dismiss the first half of it completely and just acknowledge the second half, even if the Super Bowl era does happen to mean more.

Im from Alberta Canada and a huge Steelers fan we have a huge Steelers club/pub of fans that meet every week just to watch the Steelers play football and we wave the Terrible Towel here too. We have over 400 members of Steeler fans that meet here in Alberta and I know in other provinces of Canada Steelers pubs/clubs we watch them and cheer them on during football season its like being there! Love this commercial but they should of included us Canadians in it too lol.. EH GO STEELERS!!

@LombardiTrophy45 My reference point is post-merger because the team wasn't well run prior to that. Everyone knows that. They were lousy. Giants, Packers, Browns were the good teams. The Steelers became winners after Dan Rooney took over & hired Chuck Noll as coach in 1969 and Art Rooney Jr became Personnel Director. Went through a drought w/o a QB in the 80s, but still had a good D. But my point was: fewer teams= easier to win.

Yes, the Steelers have been the best since then, but not since the start of the National Football Leaugue.

Green Bay has more championships than the Steelers, but I believe the game was so different back in the 20, 30s 49s that you have to take that into account & that the playoffs structure today makes the road tougher. # of championships won is only one factor that grades the quality of a franchise. GB is one of the best franchises in NFL. We're best since the merger & are the gold standard now. Just ask your GM.

Film of football games in the late twenties is like watching the Keystone Cops compared to football even in the 60s. There were fewer teams and less competition way back yonder so it was easier to win. Both franchises have been great historically, but the Steelers took running a franchise to another level. Baseball/Yankees Football/Steelers.

@LombardiTrophy45 p.s. The only reason the 1976 Steelers didn't win their third consecutive trophy was Harris, Blier, Fuqua and Gerela were hurt. This team started out 1-4 with Bradshaw hurt. They proceeded to shut out five of their last eight opponents, and allowed 28 points in the last 9 games. The Steelers have been the best drafting team in history (look up the 1971 and 1974 drafts) and produced the best team in history in the 1976 Steelers.

I maintain that the Steelers, taking everything into account, are the best franchise in the history of the NFL. Me saying you're wrong about that is not of opinion, it's of fact. The Steelers are absolutely the best team SINCE Super Bowl I. If you're gonna say history of the NFL, you can't dismiss the first half of it completely and just acknowledge the second half, even if the Super Bowl era does happen to mean more.

I've already given my assessment of the difference between ancient, leather helmet football and modern day football. I believe what the Steelers organization has done in terms of running a successful franchise more than makes up for how the team was run prior to the mid 60s.

Im from Alberta Canada and a huge Steelers fan we have a huge Steelers club/pub of fans that meet every week just to watch the Steelers play football and we wave the Terrible Towel here too. We have over 400 members of Steeler fans that meet here in Alberta and I know in other provinces of Canada Steelers pubs/clubs we watch them and cheer them on during football season its like being there! Then I'll congratulate even more - after all, the AFC North is one of the toughest of the eight divisions but even the Bengal are enjoying a better year (trying not to smile here.) @UserName0043 Yeah, and 31> 25. To discredit championships in the pre-superbowl era is just ignorant. 3 of the Packers championships came in 61, 62, and 65, right before the Superbowl was created. The Packers beat tougher teams in those years then they did in SB 1 or 2, obviously those shouldn't be forgotten. I bet if the Steelers had been capable of winning a championship they wouldn't be so irrelevant, but no, it took the Steelers 40 years to win anything.
