  • How in Hades could you defile the ethereal beauty of this track by having horse-faced screech owl Leona Lewis in the same game? It completely defies comprehension!

  • the only memorable song and place in the whole game. at least there was something good about ff 13.

  • @verinenpihvi shut your vagina

  • @dBabaganooshb don't have one, kid.

  • Also, beautiful song. This game has possibly the best soundtrack ever. It's close

  • Here is what I did. Party, Light, Snow, Vanille. Snow must have Paladin somewhat leveled up. Snow should for almost the whole battle be a sentinel. This will destract the boss. Have Vanille debuff him like crazy and have her make sure the party is healed. After the debuffing, change to relentless assault and stagger. Then switch to a com/com/med and do that until he's out. Lather rince repeat and watch out for status efffects

  • I bet half of u guys just come back to oerba just to hear this song. Lmao i know i do :)

  • @Videogamer327 I will for sure... my god its so beautiful!

  • Does anyone remember when Fang was talking to Light near Palumpolum and this song was playing?

It really fits how Fang was lamenting about her's and Vanille's lost past and Focus.

  • Thanks for the upload!

I really like this song. Not only is it beautiful and memorable, but it has a very ethereal, otherworldly feel to it, which is very appropriate for capturing the surreal feeling that Fang and Vanille most likely experienced while being in the town.

I don't know if anyone else caught it, but at 1:03 - 1:23 and 2:38 - 2:58 the composer used the strings to play a motif from Lightning's Theme. I enjoy it when composers mix motifs like that.

  • Walked back here to find mission 55 (because ima have to skip how ignorant mission 54 is for now) ... def felt good walking back here...and i like how they keep the music even during battle.

  • I can sleep to this and dream peacefully despite what ppl say about FF13 its a great game. the soundtrack propels this game to majestic levels :D

  • this reminds me of Zanarkand Ruins from FF10 D:

  • @iTzJMapler I think that's a contributing factor as to why I like it, Stand alone it's a beautiful song but it also has that nostalgic feeling to it

  • @iTzJMapler not suprising, both songs play near the end of their perspective games, both songs interrupt the normal battle song, both songs play in a place that was once beautiful but has now gone to ruin, both the environments where those songs play have people that were once human roaming it, and in both the environments one of the party members have lived there

  • @iTzJMapler OMFG! Me Too!

  • I thought this game's OST was fantastic. >:P.

  • got some tears averytime listening to this! ;(

  • I dont get it why so much people say "shit"-game or something about FF13...everyone likes other games learn to live with it bitches -.-

  • The word you're looking for is ethereal.

  • I walked around the village just looking at it all, for what seemed like forever. Oerba could be the most atmospheric location I've ever seen in a game.

  • this gives me shivers. Oh my... *.*

  • I never left that town for a long time because of this song

  • If you can, get the egg for double the cp. Greatly helps on tedious grinding for cp.

  • fucking love this.

  • This will remind me of a girl from my school who died today, I talked to her quite otomorrow I will put a rose at the place of which she died, Teresa Ho.

    R.I.P Sweet Angel ❤

  • Absolument magnifique... j'ai envie de chialer à chaque fois que je la réecoute tellement c'est beau.

  • Reminds me of Mt. Gagazet =D

  • @ff8masterc yea it does =)

  • I hope we revisit this place in 13 2 or at least hear this agree with me people this an awesome song

  • @RCfan234 I do agree but I doubt they'll reuse this song, they really don't reuse songs for sequel games...well except FFIV After Years but they could've put more effort into that game. But anyway,if they do,it'll probably be remixed.

  • I think the music speaks of great sadness and lost. It's beautiful

  • Unfortunately, the game was too easy and not that good but the soundtrack is awesome. And this is the best one.

  • Such a powerful song. The feeling I got when I first got to the village will never leave me. Perfect

  • @XF0N I know what you mean. You just look up to Cocoon and get this eerie feeling inside that will just stick with you.

  • @XF0N

i have to admit i would load up my save at the village and just leave it play

beatiful song, suited the place perfectly. a dreamlike place that was once a home for fang and vanile centuries ago now just a deserted place disappearing under crst

  • Best song ever

  • absolutely the most touching and nostalgia provoking moment in the game, beautiful music

  • this song makes me cry.its so beautiful.but yet has a .//hack roots ish sound to it.reminds me of some of that music.

  • @UnsubNinja .hack! That's it! I was wondering why it seemed so familiar.

  • loved it, and loved it more with the fight transition.

  • In my opinion, it was a mistake to have music in this long abandoned village. It took away from the atmosphere. It would have been much more haunting to walk in and find not a single trace of life there.

  • @GeminiBreaker Ew your right it actually would be way more haunting :O but I dunno I kinda thought that this theme fit perfect for Oreba since it gives out that feeling of sadness and depression...but i'm not sure :P

  • @GlawurtetHadamento I mean make sure one of your members is a synergist

  • @GlawurtetHadamento i beat him by spending a lot of time training and equiping accessories on my team theres an item that you can dig up in Archylte Steppe that gives a party memer i believe 20-25% resistance to status ailments also while battle have someone in your battle team (the 1st 3 party members on the team) has a good amount of buffs and be sure to save up shrouds. and one more thing have at least 2 healers as well thats how i did it hope it helps

  • everybody, like the video because of the zanarkand-like music! :)

  • @DeathbeastGregar i totally agree with you 100 percent. there are quite a few things about FFXIII that are so similar to 10.

  • This and Orphans Cradle are the best in my opinion!

  • Peaceful song. Love it.

It even made my sister cries

  • OH MAN THX FOR UPLOADING THIS. I FUCKING LOVE THIS MUSIIIC!!!

  • dayyum. when i hear this song, i could cry. really. its so emotional! this song describes oerbas' situation and the beauty of grand pulse without words. its so sad for vanille and fang what happened with their home.. this place is full of memories for both. its just awesome *-*

  • very peaceful......

  • Nothing Left To Fear L'Cie

    Cradled In Eternity

Shore Of Sand Your Fate Awaits

    Oh Surrender In The Light

  • when it rains I want to hear this song...

  • isn't this Dust to Dust? w.e i luv it!

  • 4 people were turned into cei'th

  • I am stuck in Oerba because of Barthandelus...This music haunts me every day and every night, while I can't beat him...

  • @GlawurtetHadamento you lucky bastard i love this music ;)

  • hes easy like big time

  • @GlawurtetHadamento he gave me a hard time you need to have fang as ur main sab and make sure she has deprotect and and deshell have lightning at her next level and ur synergyst should have haste and protect and hope will be ur main medic that should help

  • @GlawurtetHadamento aww x_x that really suxx. wish I could help you, but I seriously don't know how I beat him x'D. I just did.

  • @GlawurtetHadamento finally kicked barthendalus fuckin' ass !!!!

but in the end there will be a third time to fight him, this time with over 5 million HP -.-'

  • @GlawurtetHadamento 1 word...

    Grind.

  • @GlawurtetHadamento Develop the Crystallium to the maximum for that chapter and you will easily destroy him.

  • @GlawurtetHadamento If you're still stuck, Take a teleporting Cie'th stone back to Architytte Steppe and beat the tar out of Cactuars, it may be tedious but you get 5k CP off of each little one 10k CP off od each giant Cactuar and I want to say 15k off of the largest transformation it can preform. I wouldn't know haha haven't beaten that one ^^;;

  • @GlawurtetHadamento The best cutscene in the world comes after that, hope you got him!

  • @GlawurtetHadamento eerrm. you have time. Why not level up? Sheesh new school kids...

  • @robinhowe360 You can't expand your crystal things if u haven't beat Barthandelus....

  • i cried o_o

  • This song makes me so emotional. It makes me think of how beautiful Oerba would've been, and then it turned into... poo. :c

I WISH I COULD REBUILD IT. :V But then I would get eated by the loads of Cie'th. :c

  • This game is incredible, I dont know why the people hate it o_o

Maybe they want a FFI or II for PS3 -__-"

  • @Xehanort34 I was replaying this part of the game recently and I thought the same...the game is beautiful and extremely detailed. Maybe it has a couple of flaws, but you can´t deny that it is a work of art. And Oerba Village is an excelent proof.

  • @Xehanort34

Well no actually, they don't. People want an actual genuine FF game, or a remake of FFVII, FFVI, or FFX, mostly being on the FFVII side. Even suggesting that it would be FFI or FFII shows that you really have no idea about the history of the franchise, those games are barely ever talked about. Maybe to someone who has never played the good ones FFXIII is good, it's still an okay game, but any of the others maybe aside from VIII just completely dwarf it in comparison.

  • @ImDiddyKongFTW I barely even hear about FFV :(

  • "I know; we'll make this utterly splendid, ethereal melody as the theme of Fang and Vanilles village, then we'll get a talentless, horse-faced squawker to sing the end theme!"

    Quite a contrast, eh?

  • @galti111 really do hate the hate comment there.

  • @shanty899 amen to you

how can someone hate this peaceful nostalgic music!!! 0_0

  • those 4 dislikes should be hunted down

  • Yes i love this song

  • FFXIII's ost was weaker than most other FFs(despite still being great)..but in my opinion, this track ALONE really takes the crown as best FF song ever. I am very sure there are others out there who agree with me.

Its not just how beautiful and otherworldly this track is..its the manner of which it was introduced..the utterly beautiful location; the memories and emotions of that place. Oerba.

  • @MrMugetsuu well said

  • @MrMugetsuu definetly agree with this comment. like you are coming over the hill and the sun is very beautiful shinning off of the snow as your characters are getting closer and closer to the end. and then the place itself was a mixture of death and life, of beauty and ruin the song oddly matched perfectly it was sad and yet calming and relaxing

  • @MrMugetsuu you are right. this track reminds me of memories and emotions of better days... its sadness, but not the kind of sadness where you cry histerically screaming "WHY?!" but rather the kind of sadness where you stay still, tired and so overwhelmed by sorrow that you just gaze out to the setting sun.

  • @MrMugetsuu in a way it reminds me of how ff7 did when aeris died and when you fought jenova they kept the sad song going...i like how ff13 did this in the village...made me kind of happy =p

  • @MrMugetsuu A scene I will remember for the rest of my life.

  • If only square enix had made a flashback of oerba 500 years before the game during Vanile and Fang's time.

  • This music is just plain gorgeous. It captures the nostalgic "city trapped in time" feel perfectly.

  • In a game that I really hated, this was the only part that I truly enjoyed.

  • This song reminds me of "A fleeting dream" from FFX.

  • Mua ha ha haaa! I have beaten the game 100% but oh wait... I have an error, E-73...? Even though I dont play online!? Why does my eathernet shut down my whole system!? GRRRRR!!!! $100.00!!?? Rwar!!! MUST GET HEAD-SHOTS!!! HALO HAUNTS MY DREAMS, WHY!!??

  • I bet they was like this song is to badass to change to the battle music

  • For all the new generation FF players, this is not the original composer. The music is fantastic and hypnotic, but I still recommend the original instrumental. Nothing compares to the emotional cry of a complete orchestra / opera...

  • @robinhowe360 This is the battle theme melody, also composed by Masashi Hamauzu

  • There are so many amazing songs in this game, but this one and The Gapra Whitewood are two which really stand out for me

  • 1 dislike: The disliker has become a Cie'Th of baldanders xDDDDD

  • Man i really enjoyed playing this game.. my only gripe is that it didn't have any of the intricacies of FFX and the rest.. but the story, graphics and music more than made up for those... and the only reason i'm keeping my ps3 is cause i'm playing GT5, and am waiting for FFXIII-2 and FFXIII VERSUS!!! when's that game coming out...?

  • Wonderful...

  • I can't stop hitting the replay button

  • T_T

fang and vannile you will be missed, wait i just noticed eveyr game this wrietr has made has 2 of the main charecters die at the end

  • @jsh020 wow thanks for the spoilers asshole

  • @higherlunacy wait there are people wh havnt beatn the game yet......and looking up the ost that only plays in the last cople of hours of the game, sorry to brea it to yah but you kinda brought that uppon yourself, first rule of j-rpg's you havnt completed is never look in the comments o videos or message boards till your done, your guarenteed spoilers

  • Hey hatred if u don't like the game don't complain about it so what it is unreal that's what games are like what if the worlds games where based on reality then it be boring as shit so don't fuckin complain about it

  • Final Fantasy make the best games and music EVER!!!

  • I'd like to add that these haters need to understand that Final Fantasy gave birth to all other games of its kind being one of the first RPG video games. Without the success of RPG's in the early days the other genre's wouldn't have been able to grow because RPG's were the backbone of early video games.

  • The Music, The visual art style, The eye candy backgrounds, Summons or Eidolons any type, The Characters (especialy the comedic one), Unrealistic fights, all of these at your fingertips that make your character look cool, adoreable or badass.

these games (not includeing online ones MMOs aren't my thing) these are the games that keep me comeing back to final fantasy games.

Haters are so fucking sad lol. FF is one of thoose casual games I love to chill out and play alone.

  • Everytime i listen to this song i break out in goosebumps. It was one of the most chilled out songs i have ever heard on a game which is a complete contrast to Oerba which is completely deserted and dead. Absolutely Stunning music

  • Never have i heard a song that just makes me stop and look at the scenery. Oerbas landscape is very spooky and deserted with crystal dust everywhere. The song fits perfectly with the scenery. It is a very beautiful song.

  • beautiful

  • That's why I would re-play FFXIII..sounds so natural,pure,epic and relaxing at the same time :)

  • Oerba brought that familiar feeling back that we had in Zanarkand from FF10. And the music never changed to the fights.

  • @DeathbeastGregar exactly what i was thinkin about

    true fan of ffX

  • @DeathbeastGregar Ohhhh yeah.......

  • if only this game was allowed to be a ful exploring towns , and talking to people, I would love it more, but the music and the graphics are the best

  • I love Oerba, but all the creepy Cie'th and having to backtrack to fix Vanille's stupid dog are just ANNOYING.

  • This sounds really nice,.:)

  • I really like the atmosphere in Oerba Village

  • So beautiful... Wish I could have this box set.. =( Thanks for sharing! ~~Tom [polymer clay artist]

  • when I see the endless see, and the shore then the box gives me a heavenly axis,

then I see the bridge that leads to nowhere ...

you get the feeling about the final destination, the land of the dead memories ...

  • Translation:

    Nothing left, that follows me.

Free at last, ohhhh FREE AT LAST

Soaring through , the glimmering sky

I spread my wings, and blossom with life.

  • @TDAKitana Actually, it goes:

    Nothing left to fear, l'cie

    Cradled in eternity

Shore of sands, your fate awaits

    Oh surrender in the light.

  • @TDAKitana what language is that?

  • @Mrcoolalpaca

    Vietnamese with slight Cantonese

  • serious amount of "funny guys" here. is it just a coincidence that you make dumb comments and get duped into shitty soundtracks? I think not

  • this music always creeped me out. This is an amazing chapter it just goes on for ever.

  • I love Oerba, it's so sad..the place where all began....

  • I think I'm going to have to replay this. The soundtrack is just fantastic. I honestly don't get why people hated this game. I thought it was absolutely breathtaking.

  • @DaBananaHammock I don't think that many people hated the game. It's just that the people who did hate the game have extremely big mouths and like to run them and so you only see bad comments all of the time. When people don't like something, they tend to talk about it alot. :/ But I thought this game was amazing. One of my favorite Final Fantasies.

  • Memories turned to crystal dust, souls departed through the gates of the maker. Oerban L`cie who completed their focus adorn the village in crystal dust while those who turned Ci`eth corrupt this beauty.

  • oerba looked like a small village with a bunch of snow

  • beautiful

  • you simply cannot get through to people like this. all I'll say is, enjoy your Shitty half hearted musical compositions. you are responsible for the release of shitty video games, newfag

  • @fuckweed No.. They just have a different opinion to you... Not everyone's taste has to revolve around yours...

  • @fuckweed dude chill.. if you ver played that game.. or attempted to play that game.. teh storyline is only for people who have massive patientce and who like it... so they needed kickass music for that... if you dont like the music dont call it a shitty game... if you dont like the game.. nobody cares

  • @fuckweed Calm down, Jesus. Music is subjective. (p.s - I hear having a stick up your ass can lead to infection. I'd go and get that taken care of as soon as posible.)

  • The music reminds me so of the Mt. Gagazet from FFX. To me, this is one of the stand out themes of FFXIII.

  • Great melody!

  • Great melody!

  • Nothing left to fear, l'Cie

    Cradled in eternity

Shore of sand, your fate awaits

    Oh surrender in the light

    Possible to hear the sea

    Harmony is all we need

Shore of sand, your fate awaits

    Oh surrender in the light

  • theres something about this song that reminds me of the Loading place in AC: Brotherhood.

  • This game is terrible in comparison to earlier FF's....but the soundtrack is just beyond amazing

  • This game was junk. All the music in it was utter rubbish

    except this

this is the only good, memorable thing about this game.

and that is a crying shame

  • @fuckweed all the music in this game was rubbish you say?? seriously if you didnt like the boss themes (and there were tons of them) then you got real bad taste

  • @heyjeySigma

Look, everything was wrong with this music. Have you played I, II, IV, VII, VIII, IX or X at all per chance? Or even Dissidia or Crisis Core? All were themed and personalised. The boss themes didn't sound like ads for the premier league and it stood out and was an integral part of the game, unlike the barely audible music of XIII. It's an awful game with poor music at best. I mean, it would be great to find in the charts or something... but in a final fantasy game? a f**king waste

  • @fuckweed im over all the polytone ringtone shit from most rpgs ochestra is the way to go like in ff13 i thought it was awesome

  • @fuckweed

I heavily disagree. Playing through the game each track gave me a different emotion. The music was very prominent and key to the emotion of the game. This track in particular gave me a feeling of emptiness like I was alone. The boss music felt me with urgency as if I really did have to hurry before I became a c'ieth. Honestly I find Umatsu's (forgive me if I spelled that wrong) a tad over hyped. Still great mind you just not as great as what people make it out as.

  • poor ceith never stand a chance when you get to come back but its better them dead then having them stay that way

  • Comment removed

  • Favourite piece from FFXIII

  • I was right, in the lyrics there is the word L'Cie.

    Nothing left to fear, l'Cie

    Cradled in eternity

Shore of sand, your fate awaits

    Oh surrender in the light

  • Oerba kinda looks like it came straight from the Fallout series.

  • I know there are some people who think Final Fantasy XIII is a good/bad game, buy I think we can all agree its soundtrack is amazing.

  • One of the best "ambient theme" ever made for FF.

  • The Zanarkand of Final Fantasy 13

  • Man...I love this song...when I get to oerba I am gonna take my time just so I can listen to this! ^_^

  • Also, I love exploring abandoned buildings, so wandering around Oerba and learning about all the various objects was a definite treat. :D

  • It's fun coming back here when your characters' crystariums are all maxed out. The (by now incredibly weak) monsters are amusing to fight with this as a backdrop.

While there is certainly an element of sadness in this, hope is also present--that what was lost can perhaps be renewed and rebuilt.

  • i shed a tear *crying her heart out* this is such a beautiful song i was so sad looking at the crystal covered oerba

  • i love when a place has unique music and you are still able to hear it when you enter battle...

  • @gido0471 Me too. As much as i like the game's battle theme, I like to be able to hear the overworld theme consistently.

  • *ORGASM*

  • Beautiful song.

  • man this theme is cool. i could chill out the whole day in oerba to hear this chilling song :D

  • @Brocklesnar619 me too :>
