When not able to pull through or turn in (most of the time), I back in. I made it a habit after I got laughed at for parking "wrong" at a bar. :) Good natured laughing, ribbing and friendly advice, actually...so yeah, back in.
Good one crash... Loving the vids in the new format. Ace control as alwaysl.
Would it be possible to have your opinion on how different engine types can effect the balance of bikes during slow maneuvers? Ive already had a brief from another youtuber and it was awesome but think it would be a good subject for you to touch on. Like how a V-Twin or four isnt as top heavy as say an inline.
A rational fear--however, if you're in a part of the lot where you can pull through, odds are you're not in the part where they're hurrying to grab a spot...
Probably a good video, but i don't think this helps your UK viewers, i've never seen a bike parked in a car parking space, ALWAYS, right outside the main door chained to a post of some sort, usually people leave theirs bike where they can see CCTV cameras, or where there's lots of people to witness someone hitting/stealing your bike and the bikes take up so little room no one seems to mins them not parking in an actual space :)
In the US there's a possiblity that Fire Codes or other local ordinances prohibit parking near the doors or blocking sidewalk access. There usually are open places near the front of the building that you can use but the property owner can get pissy if they want to. The US is, oddly, a car centered culture and people are a little prejudiced AGAINST bikes...that's one of the reasons we can't filter in traffic (lane split) except in California.
OOOOH, i was always confused if you could lane split, but the UK is the same mate, almost everyone is anti bikes, i think more to do with the fact bikes pay less in petrol and tax and sometimes insurace, they can go through the middle of slow traffic, and there alot quicker than most cars, fair point about the fire codes, where i've seen most bikes park in the supermarket doesn't block any access at all though, so i'd park there with out a worry. also.. thanks for the quick reply :)
I think you're dead on about jealousy and cars. Folks just hate it when they think someone is having more fun than they are! Around here Walmarts have these huge aprons of concrete around their buildings and I'll often park up there. The only real danger is re-entering the parking lot because you're coming from a direction they don't expect a vehicle. Thanks for watching and commenting!
I ride in the UK (Manchester). I think some people are anti bikes and will do things like veer over to the white line to block you from lane splitting. Others, occasionally, will drastically move out of the way; either they're bikers themselves, or they just don't want their car scratched. I regularly park in parking spaces, though I'll try and find somewhere off road/parking space, such as next to the shop window. But it just depends on what's available and easily accessible
Rules/law for parking bike are vague over here in The Netherlands as well. Same law as for cars applies to bikes, expect for paid parking. You have to place your parking ticking in a visible place, but that can be a bit hard on a bike. Parking your bike on the pavement is not allowed but often condoned. Often, as it is forbidden by law and just about every city counsil can have its own set of rules....
lived there all my life, and me and my dad both ride bikes. and in teh UK we are teh most whated country in the world so where ever you park you bike. there will be cctv
i have a 125 thats on L plates and my dad has a hayabusa, we park next to each other in 1 spot.
I get my L plates on sunday, i've got a yamaha R125, my dads got a R1. about the cctv.. you wear a baseball cap or or a hoodie ect, the cctv is useless, you'll watch and see, oh.. someone is stealing my bike, and you'll never know who it is i don't leave my bike anywhere, but then i don't need to i use it for fun only not as transport. keep safe.
They're not best pleased i must admit, nah i mean i don't pop to shops on it lol, i'd use a car for that, bikes are too easy to knick or push over and w.e and i've seen so many things that piss me off, like people sitting on bikes in the street and having pictures taken, i don't want that happening to mine, and like i said i'd be going for rides, not just to the shops

I saw you doing circles at the end. Would using two parking spots be good for practicing U-Turns?
geedunk13 1 year ago
That would be an 18 to 20 foot U-turn--a very good one indeed!
