  • JESUS CHRIST IT'S A LION! GET IN THE CAR!

  • they are protective, ive had them all my life,i had a male called gandolf when i was about 9 and when i took him out for walks everyone would stop to ask about him and he would always stand between me and them and if they got too close he made it crystal clear and people got the message real quick, but he didnt get like that when my dad walked him, so he knew what he was doing, very inteligant very loyal

  • Actually, they are fantastic for protection. They will defend their family from aggression to the last breath. what they are horrible at is guarding. Unless you have a burglar that can be licked to death!

  • Dog breed of Skyrim

  • awesome video here wow cool indeed

  • imagine getting a closeline off a horse from one of those boys, serious big dog

  • A full half minute commercial TO watch this? BULLSH...T!!!

  • My mom is getting one in saturday, a 4 month old puppy. I can hardly wait! :D I want to name him Sirius, my mom wants to name him Yoda. We're nerds ^^

  • It's Padfoot! :-O

  • The dog itself (besides its size) Doesn't seem like the big type at all to me.

  • As kevin bridges might say. Thats a dug!

  • wow they are huge...bigger then i thought

  • The biggest dog is an german dog

  • @Der2Dichter

Great Danes have the biggest mass, whilst this one is the tallest.

  • i read on wikipedia that great danes are the tallest

  • @TheCow65 No this one is the tallest. Gread danes just hold the tallest dog in the world title (George) but this breed is the tallest on average.

  • These are the greatest dogs you could ever own, I miss mine so much, he was such an amazing dog and while I agree that they don't have the greatest health I completely disagree with the protection rating. Mine was super protective (but not agressive) he would stand in between me and strangers, bark before someone could even ring the doorbell and he always made sure he was right there when the door was opened, especially when my dad was out. Once he even scared a robber away. Best dog ever ^^

  • are great dane taller?

  • @TheCow65 nope Wolfhounds are taller ^^

  • Having owned Wolfhounds I can say that generally they are placid and loving and never look for trouble, however when faced with it they do become aggresive and WILL protect their owners and property. Also certain ones will attack other dogs. so make sure they are well socialised when young.

  • @dokirb thank you for responding

  • someone please respond: is it absolutely mandaory that this breed lives in a fenced area? i have woods and more woods to my right and a not very busy street to my left. thanks.

  • @puckstoppa14 Yes they really do need to be fenced in, they do tend to wander off, and being a hunting dog they will look for things to hunt in the woods you live near. Also being that they are a sight hound once they start a chase they will not come back when called. As much as I love them they are not easy to train and can be some what dense.

  • @puckstoppa14

No dog should have free access to any street. You don't want to fall in love with one of these guys and then be responsible for it getting hit by a car no matter how small the chance of that happening is.

  • she likes dags

  • @skovaretta do you like dags?

  • @B0l0joe i like dags, but i like caravans better

  • this will be my future dog<3<3<3

  • lol, I have one :D

  • they're soo cute...and look kind too

  • whats the best guard dog?

  • @Rhomeozon Doberman, Bull Mastiff, German Shepherd, Collie.

  • im irish and i think their horrible.

  • I have grown up with the Irish Wolf Hound. Now wee got a puppy, that i named Liam

  • thats a big ass dog

  • A dog will always lose against a gun...that's not a fair comparison.

  • @june191970 Well I'm not the one who brought it up.

  • Oh sure why would you use the dog to throw knights of thee horse's wen it gets 1 freaking cookie for protection? or why let it guard a castle?

  • @mrmar12100

I know, right! If it was used in offensive manner, where its strength counted greatly, then OF COURSE it would be a defensive dog.

They might as well say a certain dog breed "can learn very complex commands and has been used to rescue drowning sailors" and then go on to say "they aren't very intelligent."

    Makes no effin' sense!

  • shes not fast...but steady... dude YOUR panting

  • The greatest dog breed on earth. I want one so bad it's borderline obsession.

  • @pablocoon im gettin 1 this week :) ive had 2 b4 this they are the best

  • @pablocoon if you have the time, i say go for it! my hound sits next yo me i my couch right now, a wonderful loving giant!

  • @pablocoon best dog breed on earth, apart from german shepherd

  • really? 300000 people are looking up dog videos? I dont want to live on this planet anymore

  • @xEMeehanx why were you here, if you weren't doing the same thing? lol. I think a responsible person should research dog breeds before acquiring to make sure it's a right fit. That's why I came here. Just one of many sources I've looked through in my free time. I'm sure that's what most people were doing. There's also school projects and vet-student essays and then just avid dog lovers. It's the power-hungry cheaters that make it hard to live on the planet. Not dog lovers. lol

  • @jephybean a friend told me that this dog looked ridiculous when it ran so i thought id look. And thank you for your little philosophy, but the power hungry cheaters run the world dog lovers live in so i think they win there.

  • @xEMeehanx The point was the power-hungry cheaters who "run the world" are what's ruining the world. But a bigger problem is that some people are either ignorant, apathetic or proud of that fact. Case in point. But I'm not going to waste time arguing with you on something you're clearly not grasping or capable of truly understanding. Therefore - anything you can say now will not be read and would then be a waste of your time. We'll see how you feel when the world you accept turns on you.

  • @jephybean yeah i guess your right, it doesnt really matter what anyone says because things wont really change. Those willing to search for power and fortune will get what they work for, and dog lovers will get dogs. See? Everyones happy.

  • Respond to this video... I've learned to avoid cynical people who rally for the power hunger. Your source of unhappiness has made you target a group of people who clearly find peace - just to make fun of them. Why? To make yourself feel better, because you're so cynical? Again, I wouldn't waste my time responding. I will not read anything you have to say.

  • The health segment was depressing

    "Suffers from cancer" 0_o

  • The neighbors had one. A fantastic dog, but he had to live outside all by himself .. He sat on the cold stones whining at the window to join them indoors, even through the winter. They fed him but he was just a nuisance to them. A status symbol. I hated them for that.I used to stroke him and talk to him over the fence.rip dear dog.

  • @bootsandsaddles --I would have hated them too. I grew up with these dogs--we had the first one when I was 6. Stupid people should never have them...they don't belong outdoors by themselves. They need to be with family. I also think some of the info was a bit off--health-wise, they didn't give a very complete picture. Their health depends on the breeder--and their lifetime depends on the breeding, and how they're taken care of.

  • We have owned two irish wolf hounds and they were both gorgeous and gentle playful fun .... until you tried to and harm there owner then your to be alive after the first minute . essentially there the perfect guard dog , safe to be around, lethal when danger is present but only to the threat.

  • OMG they are hughhhhh XD

  • Since Thor couldn't get a horse in the pet store, I'm sure he could ride one of these for sure.

  • In my grandfather's days (he was an original homesteader who broke the Prarrie Grass sod the Buffalo ate), these Wolf Hounds were kept to hunt down coyotes. The coyotes were so plentyfull they came into the yard and killed livestock. The Wolf Hounds were pack animals and would run down coyotes, circle them, and wait for the alpha male to make the kill. This was persued on horseback. There was a paid government bounty on coyotes. Thier hides were sold. The coyotes were dog food. Circa 1890

  • why so much hate i never heard them say celtic warriors soo yeah

  • the knock people off horses and are used as sentrys back in the day but they get 1 for protection?

  • yes equilshift the Cordoba fighting dog was all of that but the reason it was problematic was because of the lack of its sense of smell and because of that Antonio Nores Martinez mixed in the pointer to solve that problem leading to the modern day dogo argentino.

  • A Great Dane can be taller than an Irish Wolfhound. But on average, Irish Wolfhounds are taller and are the tallest dog breed in the world.

  • He sounds so happy while talking about the dogs medical problemes.

  • damn what a HUGE giant

  • as you can see there is no pitbull in there

  • @tolox19 You missed the main source for the dogo argentino breed, which is the Cordoba Fighting Dog. That dog was so vicious that females in heat often fought with the stud that was brought to breed her, instead of mating. These dogs couldn't even be used in pairs because they would rather fight each other than hunt bear. And they were perfect in the dog fighting rings that were extremely popular in Argentina (as is the dogo argentino, for its traits that you already mentioned)

  • @equilshift Dogo Argentinos are awesome. I have one myself. Unlike Cordoba Fighting Dogs, Dogo Argentinos aren't that aggressive. Dogo Argentinos are neither aggressive to its own gender nor the opposite genders. That's why they make effective pack hunters, they believe in teamwork.

  • The Great Pyrenees contributed its white coat, which is weather resistant, and bulk, and the Spanish Mastiff was used to contribute more power to an already powerful animal

  • The Bulldog contributed its chest build to the physiology of the new breed, and boldness of spirit and tenacity to its personality. The Irish Wolfhound was used not only for size, but for its hunting instinct as well. The powerful jaws of the Dogo de Bordeaux, as well as more strength and courage, were desired and this breed was incorporated.

  • The Pointer was used to sharpen the sense of smell that is required for the hunt. The Boxer added energy and gentleness to the line. The Great Dane contributed its size and height. The Bull Terrier added to the fearlessness of the progeny.

  • you need reliable information then!!! you obviously don't know what a dogo REALLY is so don't say you do

  • The argentinian dogo isnt a pitbull mix, its a bull terrier & irish wolfhound mix along with lots of other breeds. Have a nice day 13SmokeAlot

  • @tolox19 it is a pit bull mix search it up, dogo has pit bull in it!

  • i love these dogs

  • Both of those dogs are very calm breed that where used to take down bulls, the pits no deffrent to them! But thats all i had pit bulls u from the uk so how would u know...peace out bro!

  • used to knock men off their horses - WHAT!

  • i dont get it ~ i might as well get an argentinian dogo

  • @tolox19 I agree, the breed was ment to fight of cougars not wolfs and is a pit bull mix, the terrier seems like a dog for looks and must be trained to protect! I rather have a dog that is genatic to protect my family!

  • @13SmokeAlot The argentinian dogo is not a pitbull mix.Its a breed that is very protective and defends its family well

  • I find it funny that they said that this dog was used to knock people off their horses... and just last summer i had an irish wolfhound run up and rip me off my dirtbike while i was= turing into my friends driveway

  • There is an irish wolfhound owner that comes to the park near us and the dog is longhaired and like twice the size of these they get so massive, and if you feed them they get bigger...

  • i want one

  • Get a Rottweiler. It's hips don't give out at the age of 5.

  • @DrHooligan312 True. but as a vet tech studyig to become a vet, I will say that Rots, due to their nervousness, are the second worst breed of dog as far as temperament goes. Behind the chow, Rots have the worst temperament. Doesn't mean they can't turn out well. But if you're an inexperienced dog handler and you're not firm and disciplinary with your rot as a pup, then it will likely turn out to be an aggressive, snappy, and even ornery dog. That being said, I've seen very good rots too.

  • Anyone that gives this dog a low rating for protection. Doesn't understand the meaning of size. One of the reasons an Irishwolfhound was good against the wolf. Was because of its size among other things. A Wolf knows the bigger the animal the bigger the risk of injury infliced on them could be. An a Irishwolfhound is bigger than a wolf. So that will be in the back of the wolfs mind.

  • @LordHannigan

aggression and strength are different. A dog for protection against other animals sure this would be great like you said. But this kind of dog as protection against a human with a gun? If it doesn't have aggression then you are shit out of luck. No matter the size.

  • @AFDTJ You just killed your argument doesn't matter how much aggression you're dog has if some one has a gun either. So stuff it would yeah.

  • @LordHannigan Obviously, you have never seen a dog with a enough aggression to bypass pain, and keep attacking. Still, Aggression > Size.

  • @AFDTJ Cleary you never seen an animal shot in the head. Nothing is feeling pain after it gets shot in the head.

  • @AFDTJ An a dog that went into war and knocked knights off their horses is a huge sign of aggression.

  • @LordHannigan But can we stand by that? I am comparing this dog to a Caucasian mountain dog. That is why I am probably a tad bit bias. I am just saying how size can and can't show how a dog is great for protection if it doesn't have any drive.

  • @AFDTJ The Irish wolfhound has plenty of drive.

  • @AFDTJ The Irish wolfhound has plenty of drive. Sorry you are just no going to persuade me so don't bother.

  • @LordHannigan Like Huskies, they can be intimidating to look at, but they're just too damn friendly to protect your land. That's not to say you can't train/breed that out of them...

  • @MyNameIsBucket Well actually Wolf Hounds have a nasty habit of of chasing dogs.

  • We have 3 min pins and a hound mix and I REALLY want a BIG dog I have wanted on for 6 years and now I am 14 and my mom said I can get a Irish Wolf Hound when we move that is coming next month but we have to rent so we may have to wait 9 months till we can get her after we buy a house (there's mold in are house so we have to move into a rental home then were buying a house) I hope we can get one in the rental house! I want to name her Akita Joy!

  • @Jessica141996 Hope you get a dog :) I want one to, but that will happen when my dayghter are big enough to...she is 8 year now :/ Good luck!

  • @Lonley Were going to get the afghan hound instead! I think your daughter should be hold enough? I hope you get one soon!

  • It was the English that killed off the Wolf

  • My best friend's dog growled at a snow man and wouldn't let her continue until she (the dog) confirmed that the snow man posed no threat. Her dogs go haywire when people are snooping. They are a pretty good alarm.

  • I think the dog is in better shape then the guy...he cant catch his breath...haha

  • I remember old Rex got to about 120kgs (265lbs) not long before he went. And he wasn't overweight, just real solid. Definitely an awesome breed with a scary bark.

I loved it when he would go up to the Cats and lick them in affection.

  • lol, I don't see why people need a dog to have valor, but ok XD

    These dogs are so lovely.

  • irish wolfhounds blaze mad nugs

  • Try Asian women **busizz4me.info**

  • is this narrator from Disney?

  • @ikickass5656 Yes, yes he is.

  • this is gay dog

  • @FIVExxxxxSTAR you still got it wrong

  • @FIVExxxxxSTAR your comment is gay as well

  • this gay dog

  • I rescued one a couple years ago. Turned out to be the most affectionate dog I have ever had and I have had plenty.

  • It`s so great, great dog

  • i don't believe any dog can kill a wolf...

  • @lecheparavaka An you are wrong.

  • @lecheparavaka

There are quite a few breeds which can kill a wolf.

People who don't understand dog history and genetics believe the wolf to be superior to the dog in every way. But that is simply not true.

When a breed is developed to perform a certain task it will always beat the wolf in that arena.

The greyhound beats the wolf in regards to speed, the bloodhound in tracking and mastiffs, great danes, wolfhounds, mastin espanols, kangals and so on can and have throughout history killed wolves

  • Cén fáth go bhfuil an soilder thaispeántar i mBéarla éide, riamh an wolfhound héireann bhí in úsáid ag na Breataine.

  • never seen an irish wolfhound in my whole life. i want to see one or more

  • they look like giant mutts

  • @A4moondoggy thats basically what they are, they look very ancient and celtic too tho, theyre amazing dogs if u actually get to intereact with one

  • I saw one of these walking around with his owner at school and I flipped out! I love these dogs! :D

  • These dogs are so beautiful and graceful to see, and so kind and gentle, they think they are small dogs and try to lean into you and get on your lap. I wish I had a breeder in my area still breeding because I would have scooped one up in half a heartbeat! <3

  • The guys obviously don't know what a Celtic warrior looks like. They certainly don't look like fecking Templars! lol

  • @SlowMotionGetaway

Más rud é go fíor-mhaith a bhí an madra a mharú go Béarla fear. Fada gaeilge beo!

  • @SlowMotionGetaway the breed is known as an Irish wolfhound, but they were not only used by the Irish but by English mounted cavalry. I was more of a show of rank back then, like an officer would have one to follow his horse acting as a deterrent for opposing cavalry. I read a book way back when, that mentioned irish hillsmen using the dogs more for hunting than a wardog, then as it was used against England, the English also picked up the breed for use in military.

  • @SlowMotionGetaway Fucking lol

  • @SlowMotionGetaway Well, they couldn't very well have shown a naked, blue warrior wearing a torque and spiked hair on family television, I guess. :)

  • @jt9mechanic the blue 'woad' warriors with spiked hair was more typical of picts than celts mate.

  • @SlowMotionGetaway Didn't the earlier warriors fight naked, to show toughness?

  • "It's also been said that" a lot of what you hear on television is bullshit.

  • TEMPLAR!!!! 0:52

  • I saw one for the first time at the dog park, i was blown away by the size!!!

  • how dare you out a gay english flag on that soldier!! and they were used to kill wolves not knock people off their horses

  • @JohnnyHeneghan09 In the old days they were war dogs. It is said that 2 IWH could take down fully armoured knight on horseback.

  • @MrNiceGuyNot well that two but in "the old days" they are the animal hunters used to help them make wolves extinct in ireland and they probly cant say that coz its animal planet hah

  • this dog like scares me

  • i pove your show!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i pove your show!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • disney channels host voice; this 1 . kill me.

  • Even with thier height, the Great Dane is topping them regularly.

  • haha, my friend has one of these dogs. his name is finagin, hes 4 months old. im 170 cm tall, and hes up to my waist. O.O

  • haha just how high is high?

  • I attended a dog show in charlotte N C Iwent up to an Irish wolfhound and petted it the dog stood no barking no jumping one of theses days I too will have one of these Gentel gaints. I love them

  • Loving their interpretation of a Celtic Warrior. Haha! Epic cultural awareness fail.

  • @Latrodectus LOL yes... total cringe/abberation ahaha could be propaganda vid muah!

  • I want two dogs when i get older... A French Bulldog, and an Irish Wolfhound!!! Are they really gentle as people say they are? I really hope so lol :D

  • @duff1018 i own two irish wolfhounds and they are pure sweety pies!! they really live up to their rep as gental gaints!!

  • @leoliamll thats good to hear! and congrats! ive always had a passion for dogs. I was a "loner" in elementary school, and all i did was study dog breeds so im well educated with K9s lol. Im excited for the future now. About how much does one cost

  • @duff1018 haha tanks!well a guss it all depends on the breeding like if its parents were champs or anything like tat. well i payed 600 for 1 nd 1000 for the other but tats in euro, so ud have 2 look up breeders and that 2 find out thier prices!! and if u do get one make sure to researh them really good!i give mine a spoon of coconut oil everyday coz its meant to help stop bone canser which they can suffer from!!

  • @leoliamll oh will do. And i know. they suffer from a lot of things due to their size.

  • They're startlingly big in person. But they are very quiet and peaceful, like all sight-hounds. And they might not be agressive guard dogs, but if someone looks in your window and sees one of these wild-looking giants staring back at them, they aint gonna be breaking into your house!

  • i love irish wolfhound!!!! i want!!!

  • the celts didnt wear st james cross the the english wow they fucked that up

  • @mrssarahmarie55

    What an uglier hater! :)

  • @mrssarahmarie55 let me guess: you're one of those people who like this little dog's that look like rats! if you don't like this race than don't watch it!

  • This breeds history is as long as the Irish Wolfhound is high. The Irish wolfhound's history is just shy of 3 feet

  • The Irish have an Army?

  • @cleaningsfun Well since ireland has been in civil war for centuries id think yes they have a fucking army.

  • @haxxxxxify

we are not in a civil war. The Irish civil war ended in 1921.

Nothing against you in particular, but you are a part of a large problem of Americans who think they know about Ireland.

  • @cleaningsfun Well since ireland has been in civil war for centuries id assume so.

  • @cleaningsfun as an independent country i can't see how your suprised to hear that we have an army?

  • Oh jesus his voice

  • Imagine going into battle and seeing a pack of those coming at you.

  • @ShotGlassINC I can't imagine that.

  • @waitandbleed17 You're missing out.

  • they're very sweet natured 2

  • I have a Wolfhound called Jacob (IRONY ''TWILIGHT'', No we didnt name him after the film),Hes a really effectionate and loveley,And he would Protect the Family say an intruder or attacter,I find that the wolfounds size alone can scare away anyone, especially if they Snarle and Growl, can get quiet scary,Infact we had a Fox manage to get over the Fence in the back garden and He Chased it about be4 i told him to stop and the fox vamous'd,I have never seen anyone use one for Adgility be4. -Spelling

  • Used to knock the enemies off of their horses? I believe it. They're enormous.

  • Protection and agression are two completly differnt things...

  • @NoFukinNamesLeft I DONT GET IT~ I MIGHT AS WELL GET AN AMERICAN PITBULL!

  • @13SmokeAlot get one at your own risk, sure its a tough dog and you want a dick extension but an english bull terrier is a tough dog too and has almost 0% chance of killing your kids, have a nice day.

  • @teedonster your comment is based statistics on people that have mishandled the pit bull breed! Not to mention the fact that is proven it self as a worthy family dog many time, u can look it up o you tube! And yeah i bet you like to be my dick extension huh? Oo why would guy use that ass a put down, i would see that coming from a female!

  • @13SmokeAlot yes nearly all family pitbulls are great family dogs, however most of them can snap for no reason at all at any time reguardless of its upbringing and that is a fact, sure its unlikely but are you willing to take that chance?

  • @teedonster Thats a dumb statistic, you dont know those people that get atacked or how they handle the pit . Alot of these people don't teach the pit bull breed how to fight but enjoy teasing it for its aggressiveness, u have to admit its very astonishing thing to see it raging like a animal gone mad out the blue! But as a pup i had and seen pitbulls (many) grow old with never showing that behavior because the owners dint trigger it. The pitbull is a mix of American bull dog and a english terri

  • my friend has one of these and he's sometimes rough and can BRING YOU DOWN! but he is a great dog and so cute
