A friend of mine, whom I do jiu jitsu with, got attacked by an off-duty cop who didn't like my friend's "attitude". My friend pulled a single leg, mounted him and just teed off. The entire time the cop was trying to use bites and eye gouges. After a little while he asked the cop if he was willing to call it a draw. The cop kept going for gouges, bites, groin grabs so my friend just arm triangled him to sleep.
while i think this is a retarded video, having been in wrestling my entire life, these guys's transitions arent all that bad, and i can respect eye gauging in a life threatening situation, but biting is always a no-no, as previously mentioned, h.i.v and other std's can easily be contracted. and submissions are VERY effective, a triangle(arm or leg ) will leave your attacker very groggy, or out cold if your mean enough with it. arm bar, americana, kamora, will all break arms....
and im not sure about you, but im not scared of a 1 armed anybody...
i have personally been into a fight where the idiot tried to tackle me( guess he didnt know i was a state qualified wrestler ) and a nice sprawl and 1/4 nelson transition to a arm triangle was enough to mess the guys night up.
also, you think sub's arent really effective? mma fighters ( except fag mir ) will not break eachothers limbs on purpose... they would rather keep it just painfull enough for the tap.
@mbrishke agreed for most part. ive been to a jiu jutsu for MMA class in which all the striking you see in MMA and street are legal. it is harder than they think to just get up. i find it kinda debilitating how so many reality self defense guys are so quick to say ill just bight and eye gouge. whos to say the attacker wont do the same? its important to have a good understanding of ground fighting to know when and how to escape. not just rely on two tools that everyone else has as well.
we would rely on having to pin down your attacker while you carefully aim your elbow strikes, but you wouldn't rely on simply breaking the arm with that arm bar and getting up and running away? before the gracies showed the importance of grappling MA instructors downplayed grappling altogether; now they say "it's important to know, but the way I do it is better." get over yourself.
This is a joke right. If you took the time to learn bjj instead of putting it down you would not need to bite or pinch to safe your life. Good luck biting. I hope your attacker isn't HIV positive
Sorry to rant but it gets old these MMA clowns who may have a good gym running down others training just cause they can figure out how to train it right. But then if they did have a good gym why would they spend so much time attacking everyone else like some punk ass kids.
Now if you follow haircuts post on other sites. He talks big about BJJ. Its BJJ this and BJJ that. It reminds me of Mir before Brock pounded his ass. He made a big deal about how he was working variations of BJJ moves Brock had never heard of. BJJ my ass Brock laid on him and beat him to a pulp. Simple and effective. Maybe Mir should call his training aliveness.
Now Dan teaches JKD the way he feels it should be taught (again Bruce thought only Dan was qualified) as how to read the damn map. Depending on the day the city and the time you might need a different route. Dan said Bruce liked a right lead in part because he thought it would really mess people up in that day and age. Now you might just want to work both leads.
The JKD as taught by Dan is not a bag of techniques or even training methods. Its more of a way to approach training. That is why Dan pushes the idea of JKD as concepts. The view on JKD by Dan (the one Bruce allowed to teach it) is it was Bruces personal journey in the martial arts. So to Dan the other JKD guys (the ones Bruce did not find qualified to teach) have the same route on the map Bruce took from A to B.
Now Dan as the only one qualified to teach JKD could have done what Haircut and people from the Straight Blast Gym have done. He could have invented a BS probably even cooler than "aliveness" name and trashed everyone else. He didn't. All he will say about others is they claim to teach JKD when they don't know it or don't know the whole system. It appears what they are really teaching is the Jun Fan GF.
In JKD (Jeet Kune Do) only one person ever achieved a level 3 rank, Dan Inosanto. Taky and James Lee were instructors but in Jun Fan GF (not sure on Chinese GF). Then you have Jerry Poteet and Ted Wong. They were students not instructors. If Bruce really thought they had what it takes to teach JKD he would have promoted them like he did Dan.
In the Jun Fan Gung Fu only 3 people were deemed worthy to teach this under Bruce Level 5 for Taky Kimura and level 3 for Dan Inosanto and James Yimm Lee. So as Dan will say Kimura is his senior in Jun Fan GF.
I dont no much about the Chinese Gung Fu. I think it was Sifu Bruces modified Wing Chung but not sure. Guru Dan Inosanto was ranked at level 3 in Chinese GF the lowest level you needed under Bruce to teach. I don't know if anyone else ever was deemed worthy to teach under bruce.
This gets into a sticky area. Bruce Lee taught 3 things at his schools. Chinese Gung Fu, Jun Fan Gung Fu and JKD. He had 8 ranks (2 thru 7 were some variation on the Yin Yang symbol. 1 and 8 were an empty circle. So when you got to 8 you start over learning all over again.)
If this aliveness training was so great they wouldn't have to go trashing everybody else like haircut and his gym does. Beware terms like real JKD, functional JKD, Original JKD and anyone who call real certified JKD instructors as concept JKD guys. They are most often trying to cover their own short falls. Look at what they say and do and judge for yourself. But if all they do is attack what other people do to make their stuff look good. Lets face it it's usually just BS.
This instructor Sifu Numrich I can't find him listed as an instructor on Vunak's website but I'd say he knows more about JKD and Vunak's rat system than haircut. These guys are training for self defense not a ring sport. The training is different. Now training for MMA can be a fine self defense. But if you want self defense train for it. If you want a ring sport train for it. Haircut will use a marketing term "aliveness" it is meaningless. They have a way to train that works for them.
Everybody who visits this channel. Just ignore Haircut Deluxe. He appears to be pimping for a MMA school. The web site claims the instructor was exposed to JKD but he doesn't claim to be an instructor. This school appears to be a good MMA school that is claiming to be an expert on JKD. This vid is just showing Sifu Vunak's RAT system. It is a basic system created to teach Navy Seals unarmed combat. It is a simple program that you learn to defend yourself with.
Wow lol.. i thought the guy in the red was sposed to be getting attacked lol. He looks like he attacking the other guy lol and if any one did take me down in the street and manage to get on top of me, i most defiently would be looking for arm bars! Chances are the guy wouldnt be able to defend it and i would not just extend my hips slitley.. i would extend my hips so fast and violently his elbow would be nastley dislocated... and hopefully that would stop him attacking people lol...
I appreciate the resprect the instructor gives to BJJ, however. This video lacks alot of real world effect. If the good guy has complete dominance over his opponents, wouldnt the eye gouge be used along with several real-world strikes to disable the opponent so you can get away? Like BJJartist said, The use of space is critical, why limit yourself to a simple guard if you have ample space.
Many familys in brazil including the gracies used ground fighting in many real street fights... But we are allowed to have our opinions. I worked as a bouncer for many years and weigh 70kg wet through and its saved my skin on more than one occasion.
you should really control your attacker better than that with your guard. Elbows and Upkicks if the space is there and run if not thats why you sweep get on top and finish the deal. VERY sloppy demo no control by either guy thus the realism is lost. Most untrained guys give up armbars and triangles like oxygen all you need to do is move. and you should always make knockout/disable before you run, if possible being chased nullifies all your work. Any BJJ Blue belt can survive on the street.
Hey I have this story, I got into a street fight about two years ago, and I was able to mount this guy, and pound his ass out, while I was punching he managed to grab a hold of chest skin and tear and rip that shit. It got really infected and was a nasty wound for almost a month.
lol, if you take someone down and your on side mount get your body weight on their shoulder grab their head and start throwing vicious knees to the temple. if it doesnt knock themn out itll daze them enough for you to get them into a chokehold, and theres no guesswork there, a choke WILL put them to sleap eventually.
I agree, if I may add I would also try to grab his head & bang it non-stop on the ground. This would hopefully knock him out as well.I know it sounds brutal but it's better than playing UFC tag with him & allowing the possibilty of his friends raining down a boot dance on you.
When someone has you mounted and is raining punches down on you...guess what you won't be able to reach up far enough to eye gouge. Unless, he conveniently leans close enough 5:22. I notice that the guy on top (side mount) didn't even have his weight on you. This looks like a juiced up kata, and katas don't work. You need to find a way to utilize your techniques with a truly resisting opponent. The Gracies defeated many jeet kune do fighters who also tried to nut grab, bite, and eye gouge.
Ok I agree with most of what he said. but biting and pinching, no. If you are biting and break flesh you are risking several std's, not worth it. pinching. like a titty twister, c'mon that does not really do a damn thing. eye gouging is not very reliable. your trying to hit something the size of a quarter with somethng the size of a dime, hard to do but maybe. ir some one takes me down and there happens to be an arm or leg just there ripe for the taking I am going to take it. good vid four stars
What he says makes sense since you don't want to f**k about trying to get hold of a limb to work a submission since that could take too long on a floor that could have broken glass on etc and what if the attacker's not alone? do what you must and get out of there!
This could be usefull for somebody that does nont want to spend all there time taking jiujitsu or grappling. When on top he did good and looked affective but when on the bottom you really should know how to arm bar or sweep thats why grappling/jiujitsu is very important. As far as everything else it was good defense for an average joe but if your fighting a good fighter this stuff aint gonna work because he will be doing the same stuff.
ye guns and knifes also get u years in prison u fucking retards, and eye gouging is for bitches people that bite and eye gouge are bitches and get 0 respect if u fight reasonably fair u will get alot more respect as being a good fighter, and ricecrsp u are probly the only making snese bjj is highly effective in real situations , tbh a guy training mma 1 year could have the tools to beat any street fighter in his town or area.
WTF this guy talking about? I got into a road rage fight a couple of months ago braking the guy's arm with an armbar from guard. My opponent had no idea what was happening until it was too late. Then after falling over on his back I put a couple of elbows into his skull...fight over. Later I learned he was on PCP. They say don't this or that but the fact is once you've trained a technique to be quick, tight, and solid you can use it in any average street fight situation.
You guys have to remember that you have sound technique on the ground for these tactics to work. I think some of these tactics would be a benefit to any grappler facing a street altercation.
everyone talkin about street aint shit, all these diff MAs, all you need is a gun, go buy one. its cheaper than training for a discipline of your choice. go to your local puto
