So we had to watch this yesterday for film studies... What is the point of it? Is it just someone saying "hey guys, look at what I can do with clever editing"? It was really cool for the first 2 or 3 minutes, but after that, I started to get a really sore head... :(

yep same here. I was interesting for about 20 seconds. the last 8 minutes were truly unnecessary
