They don't allow the bands to sing their music because it's too much risk. They need to get the shot in one take and the only way to make sure that happens is to play a recording of the music.

she was made to lip sync by the programme, no body ever sung live on top of the pops it was just not allowed...I think Alison is one of very few female pop artists who do not need to lip sync or prove how good she is live...she blows everybody out of the water! long may she rein!

Audience noise is simply mixed to the original soundtrack.

Otherwise it's obviously not live, but exactly the same you can buy on CD, no difference at all

The TV-Shows (almost) always want lip-sync. It is much easier for them to push play than to set up mics & co.

The problem with electronic music is that it can't be performed live, it needs a lot of arrangements and processing time hence lip-Syncing.

Goldfrapp should have opted for simpler melody version of the song to avoid this problem as they did on Jools

Actually they're not playing, it's the original song played. Sorry it hurts me too but they're not playing. Trust me, I've installed sound systems for dozens of live concerts, none of which can sound this similar to the original.

madonna wanted golfrapp to do the score for swept away. alison didnt want to be associated with swept away, but instead, Lovely Head, which was their first single(off the debut album, Felt Mountain) was used in the opening scene of the movie. Also, Like It Or Not by Madonna, and Two Hearts by Kylie both have a definite Strict Machine sound. . .even the vid for 2 hearts is similar, i think, to Ooh La La. I'll get off my soapbox now. . .

Well Madonna's Confessions style was different and Madonna started using electronica and house sounds since the 90's and if you don't know she was the first artist to do that mixing it with pop music! then kylie minogue, golfrapp,etc., started doing the same thing! Madonna's COAD album was sooo different and it was made almost at the same time that Golfrapp's album but it was released few months later.
