great video cuuby! you are very talented, keep on trucking! have you thought about saying what disc you use for each shot, to help people get an idea about how to choose a disc for a certain shot
That first putt was really nice. I need to make putts like those lol.. Also I noticed you throw both left and right handed, does that come natural to you or did you have to teach yourself? I have trouble with my backhand shot =/ I usually have to stick to forehand.
Thanks! My first year playing someone got me to throw a round lefty and I swore I'd never try that again. After play for many years I came up on a hole that I could only throw lefty so I tried it and did well. So that was the start of my lefty throwing. I thionk about DG so much I was able to just flip the switch in my mind and throw lefty.
A little unorthodox form, but very impressive. On average, how far do you drive, and when you deuced the 7th hole, what was the drive? Thanks for the vid, it was fun to watch.
Man, you need to make some putting videos to go along with the ace ones. It seemed like anything inside of 40 feet was money. Awesome videos, enjoy watching them every time. Keep it up.
I throw righty and lefty. Depends on the wind conditions for me, but I like throwing: Beast, Boss, Destoryer, FLX Surge. Staying out of trouble is the key and keeping it in the fairway for a clear next shot which sometimes means giving up some distance.
I play often and think about playing when I am not on the course. I used to use very overstable discs for my midrange shots sometimes using a skip shot. Now I sometimes use my Discraft FLX Buzzz for mid range shots.
Cubby, I enjoy playing Ultimate and just throwing a regulation 175-180 gram disc. I have tried disc golf a couple times here outside Chicago. Have you ever heard of people playing disc golf using just one-size disc? I guess a simplified version of disc golf?
it depends on the course.... alot of time disc golf course are on state or county parks and you have to pay to get into the park... and if you do wish to go to some of the "higher end" course a 2-4 dollar charge might also incur
There are a number of factors with respect to throwing straight. Some discs fly stragter than others. Other factors are angle of release and speed of flight. Sometimes the trick is putting all those factors together to fool the disc in flying straight of as long as possible until it fades out.
Just thought id let you know that you are one of my disc golf idols lol. Anyways, i would like to know if you have any putting suggestions. I see that you do not take any practice swings, i might try it out, but i have a hard time keeping accuracy and power to get to the basket. My line is usually go though... I would also like to know where you get your discs because i live on the east coast and it takes forever to get discs when ordered online at any stores i know of!
I can throw forehand but it's not pretty. My tips for backhand are throw low and hard.. Keep your right shoulder lower than your left shoulder (righty back hand)
First of all, really sweet video, you should do more walkthroughs like that, it gives a really good feel of the course and we get to watch you make ridiculous shots.
Second of all, how long did it take you to learn to throw with both hands? I just use forehand and backhand to get the desired curves, but your method seems far more effective!
A tips video would be cool. The most important tips though are mental. I have a link on my blog that refers to the mental tips that I use. On my blog the link is called "My secret to playing better disc golf".
Looks like I did miss hole 15. Was that the one that you throw down hill with a big dogleg left? I remember that hole when the course was a nice hole. Can't beleive I missed it.
Do you have any tips on how to throw a putt? I see you use a lot of wrist action and your disc fly's really strait. I seem to be having the problem of floating any putts over 30 feet long.
Cubby you are the best! I can't believe how good you are. I play about three times a week and I am happy with making a 50 footer a day, but you seem to make every 50 footer you see... How far is your max drive?
Thanks for you kind words, I really don't think of myself as a good player just a very passionate one. I can throw over 300, really far if over a cliff :)
hey cubby I have noticed that you are not only good at Aces. You ROCK at putting! how did you get so good and what kind of putter do you use? I use a 170g Pro Rhyno
I don't throw long enough off the tee and with my job Recreational play is about all I can do, I stay AM for a reason, hoping to get back into playing in the worlds again, but can't in my current job.
just over 300 feet. They are all long as I throw with full power everytime, I swing shots wide, skip thim or throw s hots. I seldom throw in a straight line to the target.
