With regards to education, my father pretty much decided on what university course I was going to study as I was going to be studying abroad and he would be paying a lot of money for my education. I have since obtained an undergraduate and a masters degree. I have a well paying job, but I wish that I had studied something I really wanted to do as opposed to my father picking a course which he thought would secure my future financially. so are so right about being social at university. so many people realize that during their senior year lol. when it's a little late. but it is imporant to be a member of a club. it helps you increase communication skills, become more organized, handle finances and more.
You inspire me on so many levels, from your confidence, making your health a priority,and pushing through school all at the same time! This definitely encourages me because I just started my masters program ( in social work). I am struggling balancing school and work, but I keep going because just like you said, you should enjoy what you do, don't pick something because of financial reasons only!

I think education is so under-rated in the Black community. Ladies it's so important! Trust me you can do it. I've done it with two young children. I'm not saying it's easy especially if your older but it is do-able. If you need to, start at your local community college.

Going into my BA I thought I wanted to be a business major. After my first semester I figured that was not for me for a number of reasons even though I was very good at it. I turned to English and my first love Theater and haven't looked back. I have added dance into my world and now I'm on a mission to insight through theater by starting my non-profit. I would never made these if it wasn't for my education. I plan on pursuing my MA in Phd in the upcoming years. Thanks for this great video.

It's completely crazy lol how we've both gone to school for engl. & psych. that is what my BA in Liberal Arts degree is in =) Gosh u are so right about the social thing, if I cld have done my past 4 yrs diff. I wld have been more active n involved socially early, but that didn't come until much much later. However, I am aspiring to become even more involved & active currently & for the future. I'm putting things together now to pursue these endeavors.
I went through the same thing I started out anting to do journalism because i enjoy writing, then realized I love science, and between biology and psychology. I chose psychology. Its all around a perfect for me.

Excellent just excellent. You are truly an inspiration. A very positive person. I am 33with 3 kids and I still have dreams of school and starting my own business. I have had some college but it was always in things I thought I should be doing not what I wanted to do. Peace & Blessings!

You should go back to school I was 25 with 3 kids went back and now I'm 28 and a junior @ CSUSM. Pretty good for a high school drop out.:)

Wow you are such an inspiration! I wish I could take apart of you and put it in me- your drive is contagious. I graduated undergrad this past May as a psyc. major. I start grad school this fall in a social work program primarily focusing on adoption/foster care and families. I'm so excitied yet so nervous. My heart is pounding just typing this. I pray I'll be as motivated and focused like you. Thank you!

hahaha!! that sounds just like me... did good in high school loved biology..went into college...and i couldnt do it! the biology i fell in love with was not the same biology that i took along with chemistry in college.. now psychology is great! its a very interesting subject to learn about..

WOW your amazing. And I'm glad that you have stayed so focused on your goal and have let anything hold you back. Wish I could say the same for myself. I'm in school now and will be finished with my BA in sociology in a year, but sometimes I feel like I have so many obstacles that I will never really make it to what I'm destined to be. Going into my BA I thought I wanted to be a business major. After my first semester I figured that was not for me for a number of reasons even though I was very good at it. I turned to English and my first love Theater and haven't looked back. I have added dance into my world and now I'm on a mission to insight through theater by starting my non-profit. I would never made these if it wasn't for my education. I plan on pursuing my MA in Phd in the upcoming years. Thanks for this great video.

It's completely crazy lol how we've both gone to school for engl. & psych. that is what my BA in Liberal Arts degree is in =) Gosh u are so right about the social thing, if I cld have done my past 4 yrs diff. I wld have been more active n involved socially early, but that didn't come until much much later. However, I am aspiring to become even more involved & active currently & for the future. I'm putting things together now to pursue these endeavors.

I went through the same thing I started out anting to do journalism because i enjoy writing, then realized I love science, and between biology and psychology. I chose psychology. Its all around a perfect for me.

I'm currently in an undergrad program for Psychology. I plan to pursue my Masters and Doctoral degree so that I can operate my private counseling practice. My practice will focus on therapy with a spiritual foundation, allowing the person to be complete on all levels. Girl I'm proud of you and you are truly an inspiration. God Bless!!
