  • Another fantastic track from the Millingtons et al

  • Birtha and Fanny both rock! :-) Check out the sites for more information...

  • NEW BIRTHA WEBSITE!!!

An excellent new website has just debuted dedicated to the band, BIRTHA:

    birtharocks(dot)com

Check it out, tell your friends, and show the love!

  • Check out these FANNY videos:

    -FANNY-"BORROWED TIME" (1971)

    -FANNY-"YOUNG AND DUMB" (1971)

    -FANNY-"I'M SATISFIED" (1973)

    Also,

    -BIRTHA -"FREE SPIRIT" (1972)

-THE RUNAWAYS -"QUEENS OF NOISE" (1977)

  • I have mentioned this group many a time ,though most people throw me a blank expression & maybe think my memory is playing tricks on me.

Didn't they do a version of "Ain't That Peculiar" on a 'Reprise' records single in the UK too ?

  • You're right, they covered the song for their "Fanny Hill" album.

  • New FANNY fan forum! See link in "About This Video" to the right...

  • This kicks ass!!!

I wonder why this song wasn't a big hit.

The first time I heard Fanny was one song

"I've Had It" when I was a little kid ....my sister had the 45 and played it alot back then ...I'm thinking 1975??

"Borrowed Time" is superior to "I've Had It".

  • It's great to see Fanny being recognized at last - I bought Charity Ball, Fanny Hill & Mothers Pride on vinyl, and I'm not too sure they were ever released in any other format - certainly not on cd anyway. By the way funknroll, where did you get all the great photos of the band that you use in your videos?

  • They're from the Rhino Records box set, "First Time In a Long Time". It compiles all their albums as the original line-up onto 4 CDs.

Check the Rhino website under their "Handmade" imprint, or look for individual tunes from it on iTunes!

  • Sweet Fanny Adams!

  • sang along with it, '75, '76: "no time for you - your time is through" -- and yet here we still are, against all odds (odd, ain't it?!?) --

  • I discovered FANNY in 1970 when they first appeared on vinyl. It sure is good to see that there are still those who appreciate what a great band they were. The music is timeless. Fantastic musicians all. I think June Millington is a superior guitar player. These are great posts. Thanks!

  • Can someone please put "Special Care" up here?? It used to be on here, and it's my favorite, but has since been deleted. Help, please!!! Fanny rocks!!!

  • Loved them then, love them now! My musical inspiration. Made me stick with guitar thru the blisters and other finger torture.

  • hey, funk'n'roll. THANK YOU!!!!!! I'm getting back into a band for the first time in 10 years. You're giving me the inspiration i need. I'm going to go buy that box set meself. Maybe I'll bump into scottjs over at Amoeba or Rasputin!! By the way, your visual editing is amazing. If this band ends up as good as I think it's going to be, youre the first person I could imagine hiring to put together a vid to promote us.
  • Is there a box set out??? I gotta get my Fanny fix!!!

  • Yes, check the Rhino Records site at rhino(dot)com; look under 'Handmade' for the set "First Time In a Long Time". Also, all the songs from that set are on iTunes!

  • Where in the heck did you find this???? D*mn fell in love with them, in the middle 70's...

Shesh, I still have my orig albums, and the last time I say FANNY was around 1982!!

Back then, when they would go to small towns, for "fun" concerts...

    LOVE IT!!

    THANKS THANKS THANKS!!!

  • Check out their new website, Fannyrocks(dot)com ! It has videos for 'Charity Ball' and 'Blind Alley'. It's just starting, with more goodies to come!

  • MORE video PLEEEEZ!!!

The world got away without recognizing the brilliance and musicianship of these young ladies once!! Don't let it happen again!! MORE VIDEO FLKS!!! LET'S REALLY SEE THE GIRLS!!!

  • Not much video available since the band was at it's peak in the early Late '60s early '70s. I have their greatest compilations on CD, but even that has far too many repeating songs out of 4 discs. Best albim IMO, is their FANNY HILL from '71

  • This sound is timeless. I've been trying to get a copy of Mother's Pride and found someone on Amazon selling a copy for $48!!

  • Yow! For that price you should just get the Box Set from Rhino Records, or buy all the tracks from iTunes.

  • I agree with funknroll...the box set has more than just the four albums (by the original band), including outtakes, jam sessions, etc., and it's only a little more than that one LP on Amazon!

    Alice

  • I learned of this band through the Boston Globe article cited earlier but was unable to hear any of their songs until seeing this video and Funknroll's other two postings. After seeing these I bought the box set and am not at all disappointed. I am forcing everyone I know to listen to it because more people need to hear it. Thanks for posting this Funknroll.

  • Wow, what a fantastic comment! The talk is that certain Fanny members are developing a website about the band. I'll keep everyone posted as I learn anything. Be sure to catch the "Special Care" video on YouTube, as well!

  • Back in the UK, I have a Fanny Album - Rock & Roll Survivors, it was when Patti Quatro (sister of Suzi)had joined them. Has a great version of Lets Spend the Night Together on it. I got to bring it back with me to the US

  • where can i get there albums from? have fallen in love with them since hearing them this morning!!

  • Rhino Records put all four albums, plus a lot of great extras, on a 4-CD box set; it's available on their website under their "Handmade" label. But you can also get any of those tracks on iTunes, too. Sample them there and see what you love. And be sure to search YouTube for Fanny's live performance of "Special Care"!

  • Thanks for the music and updated info on Fanny. They were a favorite of mine in the early '70's. Really gutsy music from some talented young ladies. Glad at least some of them are still jammin'! The early '70's was a special time, and their music helped make it more special. Thank you, again.

  • saw fanny in early 70s in birmingham uk and loved them!.but unfortunately they never followed up fanny hill and charity ball over here in uk!,a fore-runner for WILSON SISTERS in HEART i wonder?,2 great bands for me!.

  • right on!!!

  • Great song.If you Google `Fanny Reunion` you`ll find a Boston Globe interview with photos.Headline `Rocking The Boat`.

  • This is THEE band that gave a young girl like me the balls to get out and rocknroll-ive been searching for ages-and just found out about them playing in boston-

Goddess Bless Fanny-i love you grrrls!

  • Glad and proud to have been of service!

  • This is nice, but aren`t there any actual videos of Fanny? I`ve looked all over and haven`t found any.

  • They were on Beat Club and Musikladen and there is video out there but not much.

  • reminds me a bit of "special care" by doris troy

  • Ah, the Stephhen Stills song; George Harrison and Billy Preston are all over that album. There's so many great tough boogie songs from the early 70's, from "Get Back" to Glam. Fanny also did a song called "Special Care" around then. They also loved the Beatles and covered "Hey Bulldog" at Abbey Road with engineer Geoff Emerick himself!

  • what about "special care" by Fanny?

  • Pretty good, sounds like a female Badfinger

  • See, two great things go together! Their songs are on iTunes; check out the samples.

  • Thank you...I *think*...for putting these tracks up. It's mega to see old fans coming out of the woodwork and new people being turned on to the band that were the godmothers of chickrock...
