Each of these half pinoys can have a successful football career where ever they are from, but they decided to represent the Philippines. A lot of full blooded Filipinos don't even picture being Filipino as ideal, most of them believe in America being ideal. Also, after centuries of being conquered by different countries and interaction with several countries in our history, define what a full blooded Filipino is.
@PSVortex These Fil-Foreigners are a large part of the Azkals' success. They are the ones who are assisting in the setting up of grassroots programs = less dependence on fil foreigners in the future. Without them, football wouldn't be this popular in the Philippines = there would be no support to begin grassroots program if it wasn't 4 them. Yes, it would be great to have a pure Filipino team in the future, but until the grassroots programs begin to take effect, they have my full support.
I am an Azkals fan but never had I expect them to bring home trophies right away. Not even in the next five years I think. I would be glad if they do though. But I'd say they are the best Philippine team thus far. We should give them credit for bringing football frenzy to all time high in the Phils. Maybe not this batch of Azkals, but today may we see kids beginning to commit to the sport, and soon take us to World Cup. When they do, we will look back to the 2009-2011 Azkals, where it all began.
