You dance as the spirit gives you utterance (which is why you find some people off beat when shouting PRAISE HIM!). And worship comes in different ways to different people. I myself am not a dancer, but God has given me strong vocals and so I use what God has given me and I cry out to the Father.

mamabear1999 people just shout differently as the spirit lead them. My hair is not long but I am a head shaker. Some times I yell before shouting I am told. GET Gods gift take it and run with it. Don't try and worry how you or anyone shouts Just give God praise due him. I also have been known to shake my hands. etc. it is like fire and can not help but to praise.

In my personal opinion, it's a cultural thing. Black people come from a background where we use dance as a form of expression. So when it comes to our personal expression of praise to christ, we respond by what we have seen and been taught. newme720 is right. It has to do with culture as well as spirit. I go to a Jamaican based church and they feel the Spirit differently than African American churches do. (Please note that the church must be straight up Jamaican due to the fact that Jamaican churches in America tend to have an American twang on it).
