  • I would pick Manner cuz it has the same short A. I think it has to do with phonology with the word "S" after A to follow through. If the letter "L" then long A will follow "L". What do you think?

  • Castle...

    Quart? No

    Manner?

    Palm?

Irish accent here. (Dublin accent, to be specific)

Manner and Palm is pretty similar here except that the A in Palm is longer than the A in Manner.

Here in Dublin, Ireland, we say Castle like the A in 'Palm"

So my subjective response is PALM.

  • Here in Ireland, the A in quart is different to the A in manner, palm and castle.

    Quart rhymes with Aw.

There is no 'aw' sound in manner or palm for us with Dublin Accents.

  • I think A, quart because the next two letters to a is "t" similar to castle a ..the next two letters is also "t". I assume the sound of a..t is like the sound of as ? that is my best guess here.

  • I think B, Manner, the reason why i picked, it is how the jaw are dropped when you pronounce CA, same as MA. thats my best guess...

  • @ttirremerritt Interesting how you reached that conclusion.

  • pfft.. no clue for me to answer. Sorry I am profoundly deaf!

  • @BACONBUILT :) No problem. The answer will come in the next post. I'm waiting for more people to answer, both here and on my own blog.

  • Tricky question! Actually I have no idea as the letter 's' throws me off. If I have to pick one, it'd be 'manner' on the basis of 'a' which most closely resembles first part of 'as' of word 'castle'. Am I making sense? I think NOT!

  • @dmckeenz We will see. :)
