3) I said that people are to be held accountable. The problem is just not that severe. Less than .1% of all priests have been indicted for this behavior?!?! Amazing awesome!

1)Pedophile priests make up less than .1% of all priests. There is about 1 case a year.
2) The Family, especially stepfathers and extended family account for 23,000 cases of abuse per year. As a social scientist I LOVE that 99.9% of all priests are not indicted for these acts. This is an amazing blessing!
3) I said that people are to be held accountable. The problem is just not that severe. Less than .1% of all priests have been indicted for this behavior?!?! Amazing awesome!

Don't give me the "individuals sin, not an institution" line when the whole organization worked to sweep this scandal under the rug, and stop thinking that the institution is a being unto itself; it is merely the collection of all of its members, and their actions are the institution's actions.

However I think it's safe to say that any non-religious organization with the criminal track record of the Catholic church would be extinguished and extinct and erased from the world. Secondly, the prevalence of child abuse by priests is very small. Less than 1/10 of 1% commit child abuse. That is about 1 case a year compared to 30000 cases in the U.S. including 3,000 cases per year in schools.
Next time inform yourself before you speak. And yes, a person who has left the Catholic Church has sinned, so of course he would rebel against the institution that points that out.

Coming from a catholic nation, it's deeply rooted in our culture, it's so hard to break free because majority of the people are catholic. A baptismal certificate from a catholic church is even required with a birth certificate for identification. God saved me, he carried me away from my country and opened my eyes and heart to the Truth. It puts me in deep sorrow thinking that the rest of my family are still devoted to this cult, although they know I'm right, it's just too much inconvenience.

The creator of this video obviously misinterprates the popes quotes and the intentions of the Catholic church. Before you hate a faith, understand what it truly believes and not what some athioust pulled together into a video.

I left that religion, and I'm glad that I gout out of it. They drowned me, and made me eat his flesh and drink his blood, but I wasn't confirmed. I can't honestly support a religion who covers up sexual abuse, while shuning gay people. Also, it's pretty evil to tell lies about contriception which doesn't help with stopping the epidemic of AIDS. Evil cult indeed. The people are very nice, and my family is catholic, it's just everybody just ignores everything.

@jappud actually 1 in 3 people are Christian, and half of those Christians are Catholics. so in terms of single religious denomination, it's either Roman Catholicism or Sunni Islam that is the largest specific chunk of religion. One in four people are some kind of Muslim, one in 3 is some kind of Christian, one in 6 is Catholic in particular.
