i'm a bulgarian. i really love serbian music, since we're neighbour countries, i really like balkan music. so i just wanna say how proud i am, that i'm born in the balcans :)
Evo ga Srpski komentar!!!!
I am surprised that no one mention that this song could be interpreted just as a theme, meaning just hearing what the music causes you;
One of the many things I see is a death essene, just a guy lying in the floor, the drumbs the heartbeat slowly stoping but fighting the moment, the confrontation that he (the hearth) knows it is coming.
The guitars and "e/a" sound moment (arround 3:02) beeing the moment where sould and body start to rift appart and arround 4:15 with the flutes and other wind s

Only BULGARIANS (and Scotsmen, ofcourse, but they're not from the Balkans) have BAGPIPES, AND THIS IS BULGARIAN MUSIC AND SINGING!I hate it when americans steal it!!Even more- when Serbians do!!And then- no one even knows where Bulgaria is. F*CK U ALL!!! GRRRRRRRRRRRR
I know where Bulgaria is. And its not only theirs, bagpipes belong to many other nations. Many things on Balkan belong to all people living there. For example, this song is in Serbian language, but it has other variants in other countries. From where it originally came? Hard to tell. But no one should take the entire credit for it.
Eh, Balkane moj...budi mi silan, i dobro mi stoj.
@s88fifo oh please.... Macedonians came from Ancient Bulgaria!!Kliment Ohridski, a bulgarian from the Macedonian geographical region wrote the Cyrilic alphabet, named after St. Kiril, who was bulgarian too and together with his brother Metodii invented the Glagolical alphabet, the precursor to the Cyrilic alphabet.
I absolutely agree. Saw the movie today and I have to admit that what really took my breath was the music, especially this composition (particularly the end of it). Great mix - Iggy Pop and Goran Bregovic, just amazing. The movie's pretty good, though - luscious and emotional, like the soundtrack :)

The other version translated:
Come on, Jana, let's the kolo.
Come on. Jana, my soul, let's dance the kolo.
Come on, Jana, let's leave the fight.
Come on, Jana, let's leave the guns (rifles).
Come on, Jana, let's find happiness
shekinahslava 1 year ago 2
@shekinahslava In wich version have you heard the mention of guns/rifles and fight?
Jana is girls name and he is saying lets sell the house (meaning let go of everything material) just to dance next to eachother. kolo is dance

The lyrics are from the Serbian song Ajde Jano.
Ajde Jano, Kolo da igramo,
Ajde Jano, ajde dus(h)o, kolo da igramo/
From that point on, there are different versions. One of the possible translations is:
Come on, Jana, let's dance the kolo.
Come on, Jana, my soul, let's dance the kolo.
Come on, Jana, let's sell the horse.
We'll sell them just so we can dance.
Come on Jana, let's sell the house.
We'll sell it just so we can dance.

its not that complicated really.
pls find out what language your bulgar ancesters spoke BEFORE they came to the balkans pls.
This song is in slavic, south slavic, the same language that the glagolitian alphabet is based on. There is no so called ancient bulgaria.
