Commander Cody was all about humour, and great music! Loved em back then. Had all the early albums. Seeds and Stems Again Blues is still so funny! Recall the days when we smoked so much grass we was left with the seeds and stems ... This is a great song too, it was meant as camp back then. If people take it seriously now it means it still works. Brilliant!

Not sure where to reply.My inbox sent me back here. A few told me Stems and Seed and Diesels was mostly about humor, If wanton lost trucker children,,,and cheated on dopers are funny...I agree. Just like puppies in a dog pound, How funny!

I was a trucker when I was young. I became a police officer. Like alot of other guys who gave up diesels for something else, I wished I had never left trucking. Some of my happyist times were sailing with 13 gears, 400 horses and 18 wheels. My wife haited diesels too.

I used to drive long haul, gave it up for college and a desk job, but miss it every time I hear one of these old time trucker songs. I miss channel 10 on the now defunct XM radio.. the Sirius replacement doesn't hold a candle to the old station..

hankgwe- got your reply, thanks the tip. A few of us at work were discussing some older and relatively unknown music. It wasn't about sad, It was about cool mostly. So i pulled up,,,Dr. Buzzard, Kid Creole and the likes of Commander Cody. They said "HUH?" Best they came up with was Atlanta Ry them Section. Was going to forward the "you tubes to them"..Long as i was here...figured i'd start the discussion...saddest song ever. yeah sad Christmas tune,, thanks

here is the debate, which IS the saddest song ever written. I was looking up Seeds and Stems,,and saw this. I had forgotten this one. This could be even sadder than Stems and Seeds. Love.. the label,,,,Intro :05 ,,,ends Cold. (us old radio folks will get it).

@lacy235 i always thought "Seeds and Stems" had some humor behind it. because it's they're saying, "my dog died, i lost my home, you left me, and further more i'm out of weed." as sad as "Seeds and Stems" sounds it somehow makes me chuckle haha.
