Bill is going to feature in TV show Legends, with a full band playing Be Bop Deluxe material!! Metropolis studios, London march 26th 2011. Don't miss this one, meet Bill and be a named sponsor on the DVD to be released later!! Not many tickets left - you have been warned! Please alert all Bill Nelson fans.
@necroculto66...I couldnt agree with you more. I am a musician, I know many musicians...and very very few have even heard of them much less loved them. I give thanks to my older sister....I love you Pammie!!! I was a wee tot when I heard them for the first time...fell in love then and still love them now. A great band to play at a gathering....trips people out...hehe
I recall seeing BBD at the (LA) Forum back in the 70's. They came out dressed in nice tailored suits. The majority of the fans seems" restlessly" curious.
They played (only) an hour set, and when Bill Nelson came and said the BOC would not allow an encore, the place went crazy. When BOC came out, the fans booed!! Then BOC put on the green lasers, and the soon the "potted" out fans stopped booing. Still to this day, people talk how a band dressed in suits stole the show.
Charlie Tumahai died sadly in NZ a few years ago I believe, Bill Nelson never got the recognition he deserved..one of those British Rock mysteries Brilliant guitarist and songwriter
My Favourite album (and strangely enough Terry Hall's)..lucky enough to see them live a few times including the mucky duck in Sheffield even if we had to wag school...well worth it!(Only other time to see Boycott century...what a drag...)
Saw them at Hammersmith Apollo on the Drastic Plastic tour. I think in some ways they had pushed it a little far by then but what a bunch of brilliant musicians
what a fantastic band granted the songs are all Bills but he surrounded himself with the very best musicians I wonder what simon fox and andy clark are doing now?
Love Bill, some cool music this is. One day you are going too be the biggest star on this planet, we can all wait, becuse all Nelsons fan lives for ever.....
Yeah, it's funny how popular Pink Floyd became in the States, but not this group or my fav British band, Roxy Music... Oh well! BTW, those BeBop CDs are WELL WORTH the money you pay for them! Especially 'Modern Music' - great extra tracks!
dont know if many people knowt his but the bass player of the band eventually moved back to New Zealand and joined a reggae funk band that produced some classic songs they were called herbs!
Thx 4 postin' this. Great song. I heard Be Bop were supporting Blue Oyster Cult when Bill was in the middle of his twilight capers (can any1 verify this?). Anywayz, I'd love to know if there's a live video shot of Jet Silver lurking about. Well done Mr Nelson! But please lay off those damm drum machines :(
My first concert ever was BBD, Crack the Sky and Blue Oyster Cult. I think it was in 1976 or 1977. It was a Blast at 13 or 14 years old. I really appreciate being able to see this 30 years after seeing them live. Rock On!
THIS GROUP WERE CRIMINALLY UNDERRATED. Bill Nelson, Be-bop deluxe were a superb underated group with a plethora of talent they should have been bigger then they were. Thanks Bill. God Bless to you and Jan.
Bill Nelson provided the soundtrack to my youth (saw BBD live in 76, 77 & 78 and Red Noise a year later) and continues to do so now I'm in my "late youth" - alright then mid 40s!!
Thank you Bill for 30+ years of sheer class! Long may you continue to "make the music magic"
This is what it's about. Four not-particularly-talented lads thrashing out some four-chord inspired rock. Brilliant. I always felt BBDX we're one of the first punk bands in a lot of ways.
Bill Nelson was one of the most gifted guitarists of that era...could sound like two people playing...very busy on the ax! Still sounds freaky today. Great band.
The last time I saw this video was in the mid-to-late '70s on Don Kirsher's Rock Concert! This is what turned me onto Be Bop Deluxe to begin with. Great seeing it again!
Thanks for posting this vid. I think Be Bop where one of the best kept secrets of the 70's, which was a shame because they just didn'nt get the fame they deserved. Bill Nelson was and still is one of the most melodic guitarist ever.
This Band Had It All! There May Never Be A Band This Acomplished Ever Again!!! The Closest We Can Come To This Level of Perfection Today is Zappa Plays Zappa!!! Zardoze1... Butterflytech.com...

I was at that show in L.A. I remember a lot of people leaving after they played. One of the most under rated bands ever.

That's it, raw, frantic punk energy as he tries hopelessly to cover parts written for two superior guitarists. Excellent group.
