as an object approaches the camera the two channels separate more. Obviously you have taken the 2D film and just offset a red and offset a cyan layer over the original. To pull this of properly would require you do deconstruct each element in the scene and re-assemble in a 3D space, do a shitload of key framing and 3D camera movements and then offset the whole thing. That would take like a good 6hours per second of video to be done quickly.

It does not work, because he tried to make a 3d clip, out of a single source 2d clip. That isn't possible. All 3d images/real films are made with two separate cameras. not one. The changing of the colors in this clip would never fix it

What are the TONES of movies that you claim are being made into 3D that were 2D? 2d-3d conversion is possible but it is so expensive and slow that I don't think that any studio has even bothered with it. There are some pictures that have been converted but it took hundreds of man hours for a SINGLE shot. EG Beatles Abby Road 3d poster. But don't claim you tonnes of movies without backing it up!

thats not true they remade nosferatu in 3D and they're re-editing the original starwars trilogy (and the new one i guess) into 3D.

you just need a lot of people, who won't get bored rotoscoping - then its a matter of setting the depth of each element thats been masked.

Don't be fooled - you can't make a 2d movie into a 3d movie.

You cant make a 3d movie out of a single 2d shot...simple as that. On occasion you can take adjacent frames under certain circumstances and get a 3d image out of it...and even a whole shot using the pulfrich effect. But you can't take a movie made in 2d and turn it into a 3d movie - its never been done and never will be. If u understand how 3d works you would know that. A full 3d movie has to be shot in 3d. End of story. NO old movie not shot in 3d has ever been made into 3d.

You may well be thinking of old movies that were actually made in 3D at the time. 3D movies have been around since the 1950's. A true 3d movie requires 2 cameras or a camera with two lenses.

In order to make an actual 3D film the raw footage must be recorded on two cameras set beside each other (to recreate human eyes), and then layered on top of each other (with green/red), you can't just take a regular film and slap a copy of the raw footage slightly over top.

acctualy its very very hard to convert 2D to 3D...

you need to edit each individualy layer... to shift the focal in dependency with the distance from camera... in your video its the same distance for all elements...

i axactly done what u saying.i axtract each frame , i extract and adjust individual red and cyan layer, i combined. yet its hard to make real 3D, ADJUSTING depth and front at the same time in actual flat video is difficult. but will try for maximum 3D.

i think it's the best you can get, but it's certainly not perfect. Polorization is the best way do great 3D but it's not really easy to and the glasses aren't readily available to most people. But cool demo, thanks.
