yes it is. Sometimes I have to stop and calm down before I can keep playing. But it's only in places where you'd expect someone to run away screaming from.

A great game. Scary, yet doesn't feel like an uncomfortably playable horror game. Plain fun, great story, lots of suspense, Cthulhu etc. Fantastic!!

Sherlock Holmes and Cthulhu!? Why didn't I find this before? Darn I should look out for games like these. I absolutely love the Cthulhu mythos, it's one of the best horror fiction I have ever read.

yeah its a scary game it gets to you i cant play it at night it frakes me out expasly the part when you go to the swamps and you see that guy come out and he a canable that fraked me out so bad i couldnt sleep for a week

That part where you find that tortured body in the hallway was scary too. How you see explicit decapitation and how all this giant black maggotty-like creatures crawl out of him and he cracks into pieces.

It is a bit freaky at times, but it is more of suspense and thrills rather than horror. The game has gore, but it is a puzzle game and not a hard-core action game so I would reckon it is suitable for you even if you are 12.

My game says it's Mature, and the only part I got scared at was at New Orleans in that rich guy's house when you go into the taxidermy room. The big bear mixed with the scream...(shiver)

Professor Moriarty. The guards talk about how he was found at the bottom of a waterfall with memory loss. The waterfall is how Holmes supposedly died when he went over it with Moriarty.

Looks like you need the Rope. It's at the right of the Harper's House. Later you have to combine the Rope with the Hook.

I have a friend that is really into mysteries and computer game mysteries (i.e. the Nancy Drew series). She is over twelve but extremely sensitive to blood/gore. Is this game still ok for her (please answer if you have played it)? I assume it is like the Nancy Drew games & explains everything logically at the end too.

I haven't played this game (want to so badly!), but from pictures I HIGHLY doubt that it is appropiate. Look online and you can find screenshots, some of them could be extremely disturbing to anyone of a sensitive nature.

And yes, I am sure it does explain everything logically at the end. It is done in the Holmes style, with long dry explanations about everything.

The graphics are of no consequence. The gameplay is so engrossing I haven't noticed.  And the critics try to say that the adventure game market is dead. IDIOCY!!!

I would also suggest the Broken Sword series of games.

I agree 100%. This game is not about "teh graphiks omg!!11!". The graphics actually fit perfectly with the setting. The game is so engrossing. It's one of those games that you want to keep playing just to see "what happens next". Highly recommended!
