If the magic wand doesnt work for you....then check to see if the lines are connected or if youre on the right layer....and you can just manually color your objects, which i like better anyway.
do you know of any method to utilize this technique with a already base colored and saved picture. I'm attempting to find a method to shad easier than coloring entire layer. When i attempt to use the magic wand tool it attempts to fill in the entire layer.
Are there specific settings you have for the magic wand tool? If you can respond via my email c_m_hagen@hotmail.com it would be greatly appreciated
I usually just do the shading on the layer that has the area it is on, you don't have to create as many layers. This was helpful though because I didn't know how to use the magic wand.
very nice tutorial it really helps and if I may add even though you sorta said it, using a reference is the best way to get colouring done better ^.^ but great tut! x3
if urs selects the whole picture, then that means u have to go to the layer where u did ur lineart. then u can select the parts u want. hope it helps :D
@huyuchan27 You can also color lineart by clicking the wand, and pressing color difference, and then adjust it to 0 and then u should be able to select.
This was actually simple and clear. The only thing I could say is add some music if you can and maybe write the settings down on what your pen, air brush, and blur were set to. However, I could simply just look in vid and see because it was clear unlike a lot of paint tool sai tutorials I have seen.
If you could, you should do a tutorial on backgrounds. Because unlike Adobe Paint, Sai doesnt have all that fancy nancy stuff to do all of the editing for you. (At least I dont think)
yea, ur right. i think i might make a tut. for backgrounds. its pretty simple. and when i was making this i was rushing so i couldnt add music D; sorry ):. but if u really want me to next time i will :D

that really helped :D i couldn't really finger out how to blend the colors that well thanks :) do you have a deviant art :O
Imaginationistheway 7 months ago
@SweetShopifie You actually need to make two layers for the lineart.
Layer 1= white or transparent background
Layer 2= the lineart itself
If you don't, the layers underneath the white won't show.
I hope I helped!
