  • Oh, that's a song alright!

  • I dislike the person who disliked this! D:<

  • He seems more at ease with a guitar in hand....

  • The guitar looks like a Martin OM 42 or OM 45.

  • wow paul simon is 70

  • Amazing man...Just amazing.....Makes it all seem so easy.....

  • I understand what he`s saying about songwriting but the problem is that people dont know what they like, they only like what they know. His later songs have to much of an improvised jazz sound for me. His early songs may be simpler but are far superior both lyrically and melodically.

  • I love how this went from an interview to a monologue.

  • does anyone know the model and make of guitar he is playing here? thanks :)

  • @VLArray It's a Martin, not sure what model, perhaps a custom.

  • @robertchallen It is his signature Martin, an OM-42PS.

  • I think he's cute too! All this talk of him not being one of the greatest is rubbish.

He could have easily churned out hit after hit using the same formular but he doesnt like doing the same thing twice. All his music kinda evolves from album to album. He has a wide scope. Love u paul simon! Xx

  • From 4:20 to 8:10 here, you get "Love And Hard Times", before that you hear a snippet of a sketch he's working on from 1:10 to 2:30- that became "Questions For The Angels". Both of these songs are featured on his upcoming album "So Beautiful Or So What" due out in April 2011. A different version of "Questions For The Angels" was available as bonus download for a Starbucks label best of CD. While the CD is still available, the download of that song, sadly, is not.

  • @wilsondylanmccartney I agree. He is THE GREATEST.

  • @winterweib XD we are so similar sometimes, i hadn't even read your comment when i wrote that :)

  • @wilsondylanmccartney he had a career spanning over 40 years, had a hit in every single genre he approached and brought south african music to the ears of the western world (if not further) during a time of great oppression. he is not one of the greatest. he is THE greatest.

  • As much as I disliked that lady at the beginning, she managed to execute one of the best interviews I've ever seen.

  • PLEASE!! ANOTHER TOUR!

  • Certainly made me well up. Thought of my wife. Thank God I found her in time.

  • I love this man. Anyone who wants to figure out how to start songwriting just needs to watch this. It's an honest de-mystifying blueprint. Genius.

  • @863310 you described this so well- "an honest de-mystifying blueprint" for songwriting!

  • YEEEEESSSSS!!!!!! He's still writing!!!! That must mean another album in the works!!!!!! Another N. American tour? PLEASE!!!!

  • Oh Paul. Just beautiful.

  • Not necessarily: he's a musician - musicians make music for the sake of playing music.

  • i love this baaaahhh

  • Great artist.

  • Between 7:00 and 7:10, he sounds like Jeff Buckley. (or JB sounds like him) Beautiful song though.

  • @kvetch23 yeah, similar melody to 'murder suicide meteor slave'

  • He has some serious claws.

  • Is he like howard hugh? I love him though.

  • this is just wonderfull.....

  • a genius

  • paul is the best songwriter on earth!! ...such a nice interview =)

  • I second the motion!

  • I third, fourth, fifth and whatever number I can count up to the motion!

  • Hope he makes another album

  • I agree this is great! 5 stars!

  • This is the best video about songwriting ever.

  • baaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh is so amazing

  • yes fubl =)

  • Love in Hard Times is such a nice song. Love it.
