  • Isn't it feckin? @martinnolan88 ...

  • you fackin fenian cunt!

  • She is a cutie...

  • In the Chattanooga area in Tennessee (USA, of course), you often hear "preshiatchya!" or "preshiat-it" instead of "I appreciate your business" or "I appreciate it."

That's not exactly slang, though; people just cannot talk.

I'm half-Bulgarian, and in the Burgas area, they say батка, which phonetically pronounced is "batka."

    батка=dude (either boy or girl)

Какво правиш, батка? = "What's up, dude?"

  • i love irish girls, do you have a sister 34 years old, because you are so beautiful, but im 34 years old jeje, saludos from bender rodriguez from mexico.

  • slang that like my family uses is "legit" which means like awesome, we also use "y'all" a lot because we lived in Texas most of our time and we only recently moved to Arizona hmm i like to use the words"like" and i really like more English phrases just because i love their accents. (: I like your video by the way!

    PART 2

  • Hi, i'm from America! Arizona to be exact (: i hate it here... its lame! i wish i could live somewhere like England i'm hoping to do like a foreign exchange or like transfere student year in England hopefully in 11th or 12th grade (sorry i dont really know how to convert to how y'alls school system is) but moving on, i am home-schooled or online. its fun (: hmm some good PART 1

  • Finally another dark Irish!

  • I'm from the north east of England, and we use a lot of the same slag as you. I've had a few funny looks down south when I've said "what's the craic". Bah! Southerners.

  • @evicaratusfoetus ur a complete douch u should say that this doll is pure ride

  • From Dublin , me n me mates Say moth For Someones Bf/Gf , meeting instead of shiftin , :)

  • @flysparkle my friend was laugh at the fact most of ye call its call shiftin up there , when hes friends were saying there were getting shifted in the clubs :L from cork.

  • In newry in northern Ireland to us doll means kiss lol nut goin fein means boy and girl :)

  • Im from Dublin and we say wet and fit that means like good looking

  • in dublin for kissing we say "meet" and for a girl we say "gal" sometimes and "lad" or "fella" for a boy/boyfriend. we call stupid people ejits! thats all i can think off

  • Im from cork and we'd be like 'hows da form' 'willya meet me friend' and randomly throw the word 'laad' round da place :D

  • in cork .. instead of "Shift" we say "meet" hahaha .. so like in school its like " here, would you meet me friend"

  • American movies only portray some slang. In America it depends on where you come from. The north is different from the south. For instance we say "coke" they will say either "soda" or "pop". We say "going to the beach" they say "going to the shore". They say "you guys" we say "ya'll". Then throw in that America is multicultural so when you get to the cities you notice different races/nationalities have their own slang influence.

  • this accent sounds more like a northern irish down near the border Newry/Tyrone/Fermanagh kind of accent

  • I'm from Monaghan, but in my town (you might know it if you live near) we add 'hey' at the add of every sentence and well bawh (boy) to address anyone (doesn't have to be a boy)

  • thats what i call an irish language and i am irish

  • you are so from the north of donegal or around that area :P :)

  • I don't know if this is slang, per se, but a way to call someone stupid if you're Dutch is to call them a boerenlul, literally meaning "farmer's dick."

  • im from newfoundland canada.. most newfoundlanders are of either british decent or irish decent ( but mostly irish) lol its funny listening to this because we have a lot of the same slang words. lol we also have an accent similar to yours only a little more sloppy and diluted a little. i have never been to ireland but i am dying to come by and take a look. have you ever been to or heard of newfoundland?

  • @aprilmbungay Newfoundland is fucking legit. I'm from mainland Nova Scotia, but I have a fair bit of Family in Newfoundland, and their all irish, well.. close enough to. Newfoundland is amazing though, you guys are the most legit people on the earth.

  • @IxStealthKillZxI haha thanks! lol

  • This was so interesting!!! I'm American and it's so hard understanding people who use slang that isn't the same sometime. It's easy to get offended! Good job girl :)

  • you can't base american slang or american anything.... on two and a half men.. that's like basing all of Irish culture and language.. on a guinness commercial.

  • I come from small community in Northeastern Pennsylvania, USA, and there are tons of slang words. I'll give you a sample of some of the funnier ones: "Jeet?" means "Did you eat?", the response is either "Yeah/Naw, Joo?" meaning "Yes/No, did you?". "Henna" contrives from "Hain't it" which in turn comes from "Ain't it", which in English, means "Is it not?". So people here always ask "Henna or no?" lol

  • You're cool = you seem nice What's up my dog = how are you doing my friend This is my bestie = this is my bestfriend Can you give me a hand? = can you help me? Take a chill pill = calm down Lets chill tomorrow? / can we hang out tomorrow? = can we spend time together That was beast = that was awesome I called you a bijillion(or million) times = i called you a lot We're going to have a blast = we're going to have fun I'm mad bored = i'm really bored I'm dead tired = i'm really tired Break a leg
  • you look nice=not bad for fat bird

  • This is really helpful! For my book I'm writing I have an Irish girl, and I have no idea how write her dialog :P This will help a lot ^^

  • I really like your accent, and you're pretty cute. I'm will agree with some others on here that you can't know American culture or much slang by just watching tv. I'm a film major in college and EVERYTHING in movies is exaggerated. It kinda goes both ways though. I know quite a bit about irish culture cause I have a lot of family from ireland. But if someone said they knew Irish culture when they just watched movies, I'd call em a complete dumbass. And yeah, you're cute. Pretty eyes too haha

  • you're cute and I think that all cultures are interesting, including yours. Please don't take this wrong, but, honestly, how can you assume you know Americans and American culture by watching our tv shows? I mean American sitcoms are rife with over-embellishments, bigotry, and cultural bias, but it's just television and not reality and that's the way our humor is, cutting. We make fun of ourselves, they are exaggerations. Just saying, since we're all here educating one another. love your accent.

  • I love you too! You're cute :-)

  • definetely you are 'a ride'

  • America. And half our movies are made in Canada. Same with our shows.

  • How do i say i wanna fuck you in irish slang?

  • Marry me, please? lol

  • Okay...I don't understand half the comments left here...I'm kinda lost...cute accent!

  • take off eh! or take off ya hoser! 80's canadian slang!

    pog mo thoin....*_*

  • I don't dislike Irish people.I think they're friendliest than the red-haired Scots, the Welsh and naturally the English.

  • yesterday i got the first taste of irish in my life from roy of the IT crowd ^^

thats how i end up here. seeing that cute face i just decided to spend my next vacation there :)

Lack = Boy/Girlfriend Lad/Fella = Boy Young Wan = Girl Bant = Banter Meetin' = Shifting = Kissing Beour/Beaut = Hot Person Unreal = Cool Scutters/Dose Of the Shits = Diarrhea (Had to throw it in) Well Boy/Girl = Hello Boy/Girl Rubber = Eraser Topper = Pencil Parer Sca = News or Craic Back Arse Of Nowhere = In the Middle Of Nowhere Dope = Idiot Waher = How we pronouce Water (Kinda Like War but more emphasis on the ER) Gallybander=Slingshot
  • Well, you're pure ride ;D

  • you are so very beautiful

  • I like this! I wonder if i can think of some american slang that some may not know. smashed = hammered = wasted = really drunk a'ight = okay cuz = bro = friend fine = good lookin cold = mean fresh = fly = cool word = just an agreement. or acknowledgement.. someone says "that was awesome!" you say "word" to agree. sick = often used as good or bad. lol shorty = girlfriend po-po = coppers = police I'm down = count me in I'm cool = count me out tweaker = weirdo. also used as a verb "quit tweakin'"
  • <3

  • Hey, i'm from Colombia, We use lots of slang here in Bogota. According to a lot of people in Colombia we speak the best spanish. Actually my English teacher came to Bogota because he was told that the easiest to speak spanish is the Colombian spanish. I have heard from foreign friends, that our accent is the smoothest, that it is like a song. We don't have the accent that the people in Spain have.

Very interesting video! Love your accent :)

    Ps: Sorry for my english

  • where i live, in virginia, we say shenanigans. it's almost like a game actually. if someone exaggerates and says they're going to do something (like: "i have to pee so bad, i'm going to wet my pants") their friend would reply, "SHENANIGANS".

the person who said they were going to pee their pants has to do it otherwise they get a slap in the face by their friend.

  • I'm Irish and I have never called a female a Doll or said wile instead of really, everything is spot on for the Kilkenny accent!

  • I live in amerca, and i think you are good looking. are you single?

  • Hey, from America, the South, there isnt any really crazy slang from here (Louisiana). and not all Southerners speak really slow with an Alabama-ish accent. thats just the movies. the only ones i can think of right now are (of course) "Y'all" = you all, "that's legit" or "that's beast"= that's awesome or fantastic. Being from Louisiana we have a lot of Cajun-French words (cross between English and French) but mostly really old people use that, although anyone would understand it if it were used

  • @IreneAdlerWannabe sir, people from georgia speak slow. people from alabama usually speak in a high pitch and shorten their words.

  • @jmwintenn well my bad then my cousin is from Alabama and he talks rather slow as does his family. and I'm a girl so "sir" doesnt really work XD

  • I'm Scottish and your slang is very similar to scots, some scots words are: AYE=yes NAE,NUT,NAW=no IRISHER=Irish person BONNIE=beautiful KEN=know IS THAT YOU?=are you finished? THATS ME OOTSIDE=I am going outside QUHAUR YE FAE?=where are you from WATTER=water LASSIE=girl FAE=from AULD=old Greetans fae Scotland bonnie lassie!
  • I'm from Scotland jist across the watter and yer Irish slang is very similar to Scottish like auld which is a scots word(proper word no slang) Here we don't have much slang but speak scots and Scottish english E.g ''is that you?'' means are you finished and '' that's me ootside'' is I am going outside Some scots words are: MEIKLE=big QUHAE=who HOOSE=house DUG=dog BONNIE=beautiful LASSIE=girl QUHAUR YE FAE= where are you from WATTER=water SOOTHRON/SASSENACH=english TIMS=Celtic fans HUNS=
  • listen to me now arse biscuit = pay attention.

c'mere to me, c'mere i want you= advance in my direction as i wish to engage in a serious conversation.

ah, you're sound= you're actions caused to offense

not a bother= i have no issue with that.

  • we irish slag people just to show that we actually like that person

  • Hahaha Im from America! Not California or south, Im from Michigan, the north, and get made fun of for how I pronounce my vowels all the time. Especially when I go to Canada, they always make fun of my A's. I guess it's better than getting the stereotype of being a stupid southerner that talks slow? Which I can't even differentiate, honestly.

  • We never get any sun so yeah
