this revives memories of my grade-school days spent on the bed with my walkman, listening to the Bangles tape over and over and over and over again. who would've thought back then that one day there'd be youtube... replay!
My favorite Bangles song, though this is the remixed version which appears on the Greatest Hits CD. I like it better than the original on the Everything album anyway, so it's all good... ^_^
Thanks for posting and sharing this great version of this song. People hear it and when they really listen to the lyrics realize that what Susanna is singing about is true and accurate. This is a good lesson in life and only if people would realize this it would a better place to live in recovering from a relationship.
The beginning of the song is amazing... I might even put it up there with the beginnings of "California Dreamin'" "Good Vibrations," "I Heard It Through the Grapevine," etc.
This was from the album Everything, but it's not the original version. This version was specially done for their Greatest Hits collection.....................I think it's actually better than the original.
Her voice here is really professional, - she is singing here with a clear LEGATO-VOICE......
Her Jewish "sister", Ofra Haza - the world's most recognized female singer - would have cherished Susanna's singing here; - but unfortunately she died from AIDS; imposed by her very own husband, who never told her he was infected!!!!
This is a great Bangles track; just as good now as when it was released. It's probably my favorite S. Hoffs vocal, and the lyrics are genuinely moving.
2:08 .....come to theeeeeeees - is that her accent to pronounce THIS like that, it really is fascinating.....and I have hear other words too that she pronounced in a fascinating way...
Beautiful song
very similar to that beautiful song LIGHT MY WAY, that is my favourite, and BETTER THAN BEATLES...
I attended a charity event "PRETTY IN PUNK" at the Roxy on 11/19/2010 featuring the Bangles. The Three remaining Bangles played a short set but even through it was about 30 minutes it was wonderful to see them and to listen to their music.
Vicki joined the crowd listening to the other bands play and I was lucky enough to see her and husband in the crowd. They still sound great, the only thing missing was Michael Steeles presence and voice. Stay together forever!
I love this song. The Bangles are one of my favorite groups. The Go-Go's too. This is my favorite song by The Bangles,I wish I could get it on my mp3 player. I have this tape but I don't have the song on a cd.
@ArashiGirl If you check out Parasol Records.com you can get the Essential Bangles CD that features this song. (The receptionist that may answer your call is a HUGE fan of the Bangles too by the way. I talked to her a couple times when I had to have my Bangleonia DVD replaced. They also have Sid and Susie CDS!
Welcome Back Bangles. They were a rather large part of my life in the 90"s, with my best ever lover. Sadly he died from Aids, so due to the saddness of the situation, I stopped listening to the Bangles, but I'm glad to be hearing them again. Oh, and I have to say, I did not contract his illness fortunately, but that's what safe sex can do for you.
After reading what led up to this song I see how poignant it is to their lives at the time. I find it refreshing their friendship transcends beyond those who who would try to control their spirits. I hope they are all happy in knowing they succeeded in their music and in life. I'd love to know what Michael Steele is doing with her life.
This track should feature in any movie that ever gets made about the Bangles - it sums up so perfectly the conflicts that were happening at the time between the soon to be ex-bandmates. Susanna actually isn't my favourite vocalist in the band, but I think she's never sounded better than here - a delicate blend of silver and crystal coloured by fragility and vulnerability and regret that express the lyrics beautifully. This is their goodbye song, and my favourite by far.
this song has it all , it tells an amazingly sad story through wonderful ,probably one of the most underrated tracks in music history , a bit like the band themselves who were , still are , and always will be my fav girl band :)
I agree that this is one of my favoritie songs next to Hero Takes a Fall. Susanna put along of emtion and feeling into it. This version sounds better than the original album mix because of the acoustics and echoing was added to provide a better sounding version. This is a real break up song or a memories song. Thanks for sharing it and to the Bangles for performing it.
This was such a great band back in their prime. Glad to see they still play.. but without the origenal bassist. its never the same without all the original members
@wolfpackredandblack They werent popular with the technically original bassist. So I would consider Ms Steele the original!!! Thats like saying C.C Deville of Poison isnt the original lead guitarist?
The song is my absolute favorite Bangles tune. And I'm glad to see some of you out there love it just as much. So it wasn't a "big" hit...it's our private gem.
Wow, I haven't heard this song in a LONG time. I remember laying on my bed listening to this song. I remember having to rewind the cassette tape over and over again. Thanks for posting this!
This song describes perfectly what happens when a love is dying slowly...Even though you know is ended, you try at least to remember it in order to feel that someone next to you....One of the most beautiful songs of Bangles!!!
