  • this revives memories of my grade-school days spent on the bed with my walkman, listening to the Bangles tape over and over and over and over again. who would've thought back then that one day there'd be youtube... replay!

  • I could bangmore but I could never bangless

  • This is one of my favorite Bangles songs, too.

  • My favorite Bangles song, though this is the remixed version which appears on the Greatest Hits CD. I like it better than the original on the Everything album anyway, so it's all good... ^_^

  • Go Bangles! You will never be forgotten.

  • @donnie7326 While not 100% accurate, Wikipedia is useful - they just put out a new album a couple weeks ago. ^_^

  • amoooo las banglessssssssssssss

  • Best Bangles song ever!

  • @eyming69 FULLY AGREE :D

  • TUNE!!!!!!!!!!!

  • TUNE!!!!!!!!!!!1

  • Thanks for posting and sharing this great version of this song. People hear it and when they really listen to the lyrics realize that what Susanna is singing about is true and accurate. This is a good lesson in life and only if people would realize this it would a better place to live in recovering from a relationship.

  • It's my fav Bangles song too :-) Thelyrics mean so much to me.

  • Most underrated Bangles tune. Maybe my favorite.

  • This was actually written and performed by Lowen & Navarro first. They also wrote We Belong Together.

  • Great Song!!

  • this has always been my favorite bangles song, it's so beautiful.

  • The beginning of the song is amazing... I might even put it up there with the beginnings of "California Dreamin'" "Good Vibrations," "I Heard It Through the Grapevine," etc.

  • fits my life, touching lyrics

  • This was from the album Everything, but it's not the original version. This version was specially done for their Greatest Hits collection.....................I think it's actually better than the original.

  • This is a Kinks cover.

  • Her voice here is really professional, - she is singing here with a clear LEGATO-VOICE......

Her Jewish "sister", Ofra Haza - the world's most recognized female singer - would have cherished Susanna's singing here; - but unfortunately she died from AIDS; imposed by her very own husband, who never told her he was infected!!!!

  • This is a great Bangles track; just as good now as when it was released. It's probably my favorite S. Hoffs vocal, and the lyrics are genuinely moving.

  • 2:08 .....come to theeeeeeees - is that her accent to pronounce THIS like that, it really is fascinating.....and I have hear other words too that she pronounced in a fascinating way...

    Beautiful song

very similar to that beautiful song LIGHT MY WAY, that is my favourite, and BETTER THAN BEATLES...

    ed

  • they beat all the shitty girl bands 2day ...

  • 4 people have never loved n lost

  • a mostly undiscovered masterpiece

    love THE BANGLES :)

  • One of my favourite songs of all time. Sooooo sad, it really gets me.

  • Super hot group, both looks and talent, one of my favorite songs.

  • What a great opening this song has.

  • I attended a charity event "PRETTY IN PUNK" at the Roxy on 11/19/2010 featuring the Bangles. The Three remaining Bangles played a short set but even through it was about 30 minutes it was wonderful to see them and to listen to their music.

Vicki joined the crowd listening to the other bands play and I was lucky enough to see her and husband in the crowd. They still sound great, the only thing missing was Michael Steeles presence and voice. Stay together forever!

  • Wow! I never heard this before. Great tune!

  • I love this song. The Bangles are one of my favorite groups. The Go-Go's too. This is my favorite song by The Bangles,I wish I could get it on my mp3 player. I have this tape but I don't have the song on a cd.

  • @ArashiGirl If you check out Parasol Records.com you can get the Essential Bangles CD that features this song. (The receptionist that may answer your call is a HUGE fan of the Bangles too by the way. I talked to her a couple times when I had to have my Bangleonia DVD replaced. They also have Sid and Susie CDS!

  • @bangleboi thank you I will have to look at getting when I have the money. right now I don't have any money..won't for a while

  • Welcome Back Bangles. They were a rather large part of my life in the 90"s, with my best ever lover. Sadly he died from Aids, so due to the saddness of the situation, I stopped listening to the Bangles, but I'm glad to be hearing them again. Oh, and I have to say, I did not contract his illness fortunately, but that's what safe sex can do for you.

  • If you like this track, know it was written by Lowen and Navarro. You know the guys who wrote Pat Benatars greatest hit We Belong ;-)

  • @sykaos oh wow I love that song too. man that guy can write

  • Beautiful Song, Beautiful Ladies!!

  • After reading what led up to this song I see how poignant it is to their lives at the time. I find it refreshing their friendship transcends beyond those who who would try to control their spirits. I hope they are all happy in knowing they succeeded in their music and in life. I'd love to know what Michael Steele is doing with her life.

  • This track should feature in any movie that ever gets made about the Bangles - it sums up so perfectly the conflicts that were happening at the time between the soon to be ex-bandmates. Susanna actually isn't my favourite vocalist in the band, but I think she's never sounded better than here - a delicate blend of silver and crystal coloured by fragility and vulnerability and regret that express the lyrics beautifully. This is their goodbye song, and my favourite by far.

  • Michael Steeles backing vocals make the song in my opinion, the harmonies are simply stunning.

The Bangles are just amazing in everyway I only wish they released more albums =(

  • women's rock band on 80's. the last picture with these 4 girls will always be the good memories and can't see them again.

  • I love this song. Thnx for posting

  • this song has it all , it tells an amazingly sad story through wonderful ,probably one of the most underrated tracks in music history , a bit like the band themselves who were , still are , and always will be my fav girl band :)

  • @SCOTSMUSICFAN You are soo right, this song is pure beauty =)

  • @mrtamberineman123

yaeh my all-time fav BANGLES track , great song , amazing lyrics & beautiful girls :)

  • Ms Steele is the BEST !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I agree that this is one of my favoritie songs next to Hero Takes a Fall. Susanna put along of emtion and feeling into it. This version sounds better than the original album mix because of the acoustics and echoing was added to provide a better sounding version. This is a real break up song or a memories song. Thanks for sharing it and to the Bangles for performing it.

  • This was such a great band back in their prime. Glad to see they still play.. but without the origenal bassist. its never the same without all the original members

  • @01po01po If you're talking about Ms Steele, she wasn't the original bassist... The original one was only around for a year or so.

  • @wolfpackredandblack They werent popular with the technically original bassist. So I would consider Ms Steele the original!!! Thats like saying C.C Deville of Poison isnt the original lead guitarist?

  • @01po01po True as that may be, technically she wasn't. But she was definitly a whole lot better, both as a bassist and as a singer.

  • sexy good band :D

  • Michael's voice sounds amazing on this video... She's a great harmonizer.

  • IMHO best song from the album Everything. Thanks for sharing

  • I love this..it makes me think of someone I once knew years ago as the lyrics are so apt...thanks for the memories!

  • no video as the band had all but broken up, it was only released in the uk,australia and austria,it sold so badly that it was not even a minor hit.

  • now just a memory....self explanatory.

  • I saw them in concert twice. i used to sing along on this song and most of their other ones for yearssss!! this never gets old !!!!

  • so touching,i remember about 20 years ago tears falling down my cheeks whilst listening to it.

  • Yeah, My fav by them too.. I only heard it in 96 - 97, but still, had it on the walkman all the time.

  • their music ever put me on felling and reflection, I don't know

  • The Bangles are one of my all-time favorite groups.

    I love them.

This song is one reason why.

    Thank you.

    George Vreeland Hill

  • This should have been a hit!,

    very very sad,but soooo good.

  • Amazing lyrics , a very sad song - but a brilliant track

  • I had never heard of this song untilI I bought the BANGLES greatest hits CD

Brilliant track now its one of my fav BANGLES songs

When or was it ever released as a single

    Great post thanks

  • it was released as a single in the fall of 89 as far as i can remember

  • Thanks for that

  • Did it have a music video or was it just a radio single?

  • The song is my absolute favorite Bangles tune. And I'm glad to see some of you out there love it just as much. So it wasn't a "big" hit...it's our private gem.

  • probably my favorite song by them !! so great !! ahhh

  • Mine too! I like this version more than the original one on Everything.

  • i always loved this song . one of my favorite fro m the bangles.

  • Hidden Masterpiece.

  • Another amazing song with powerful lyrics,

    LOVE it x

  • This is different to the album version.

  • kind of sad.great harmony though.

  • great song, great voices, amazing words.

  • Nice idea to put the subtitles like this.

    Viva The Bangles !!!

  • This song is almost my youth.

Does anyone remember when is this song released? I bought Bangles CD about 20years ago.Title was"Everything" like that. and this song were included.

  • they were so hot in the 80s and some things never change

  • この曲最高!arigato

  • Such a beautiful song by the greatest band ever thanks for posting it

  • it reminds me of heart who made barrucada

  • What a pic at 3:16.

    They look so great!

  • I am starting to think that Michael Steele is some kind of gay girl icon, eh?

  • Was always my favorite too but now I think it's so sad, as I am living it right now :(

  • So many memories flooding back...i can still remember all the words!

  • Woo, thanks!

  • Oh so many memories... *sigh*

But this has always been, quite possibly, my favorite Bangles song, so I can't really keep away forever. :)

  • and mine

  • Best Breakup song of my teenage years! I still love it

  • Wow, I haven't heard this song in a LONG time. I remember laying on my bed listening to this song. I remember having to rewind the cassette tape over and over again. Thanks for posting this!

  • I really like this song, and this picture is one of my favorite, this photo-session is great, Michael Steele looks amazing on these photos.

  • Although this wasn't one of their biggest hits, I've always liked this song. Surprisingly enough, it WAS on their "Greatest Hits" CD in 1990.

  • love this song

  • This is the first time I've ever heard the original, surprise, surprise!

I have the Lowen & Navarro version on CD. Susanna Hoffs, having co-written this with them, did backing vocals on their version.

Find the "Broken Moon" CD, and listen for yourselves!

  • This song describes perfectly what happens when a love is dying slowly...Even though you know is ended, you try at least to remember it in order to feel that someone next to you....One of the most beautiful songs of Bangles!!!

  • My all time favorite Bangles song!

  • I think this is my favorite, too.

  • Covered nicely by Wilson Phillips.

  • My fave Bangles song!

  • Don't be a dork.. you child!

This is one of the most beautiful, torrid love songs about 'wanting' and 'lusting' for someone that was ever written.. Clearly, you've never been in love or you'd understand.

This song is sheer magic, and although it was made in the 80's, it transcends time.

  • Well said.

  • Sussana is very much as hot as she ever was..

  • beautifull song, thanks for bring it to us with subs.this one and manic monday are my favs XD

  • My favorite song too. This one just hits home.

  • The best!! Susanna, Vicki, Debbi, Michael!!! Legends in my book.

  • Dritbra!

  • What makes this one stand out is the harmonies. Man! Those girls sounded good together!

  • An amazing song...always makes me think of my first crush in school

  • It is a beautiful tune! I saw them in concert in '89 and they played this one.

  • GREAT SONG! Hard to come by, too.

  • bangles rule the number 1 all girl band since destiny's child & supremes were not bands as they didnt play their own instruments

  • My favourite Bangles song, seems to be one of their sleeper hits.

  • Along with "Glitter years" - seems their best tracks were less "mainstream". - as is often the case.

  • i love this song too i even bought a seperate cd of their greatets hits album just for this song

  • i love this song too i even bought a seperate cd of their greatets hits album just for this song

  • They do a good job covering it but they didn't write this song. It's by Lowen & Navarro who do a much better job performing it especially since THEY wrote it.

  • I believe Susanna cowrote this song along with Lowen and Navarro, so I don't think you can consider this to be a cover.

  • my number 1 bangle song..god they're so fit..

  • Yah, Susanna co-wrote the song, so it's a Hoffs, Lowen, Navarro song.

    Definitely not a cover.

  • This my favorite Bangles song!! I like it very much

  • ME TOO! Great song and VERY difficult to come by.

  • My God, what a beautiful song. Thank you for posting such great memories:)

  • Loved this song the first time I heard it. This band totally rocks... Missed them so much!
