I'm a beginner at the Rubik's Cube, and after watching your videos, I've learned how to solve it, and with the cheat sheet, I can memorize the algorithms anywhere. Thank you very much for all the help. I was doing the clockwise cycle the first time I tried the solve, and I did L instead of L', and screwed myself up, because I couldn't backtrack XP Anyway, thanks for the help :))
so my last layer is almost done but i cant solve my two last peices, only two peices are out of place. looking at my last layer from the top the bottom and right of the cross need to be interchanged and i cant seem to find a pattern within the moving 3 clockwise vice versa to solve it :(
This video suite was extremely helpful; I was able to finally solve the cube and now have my average down to about 1:15. Thank you very much. Also, the F2L video helped with recognizing some cases that appear more often than others. Again, thank you.
thanks for feedback. I think its very crappy. These videos are REally bad. I am in process of remaking them right now, and will publish soon hopefully. They are a lot of work...
why didn't you just go to the website i link to in the video description? Or follow the algorithms that I show on top of the video? I explained how notation works... I dont get it
Amazing!! I never once looked down at the cube while I was performing the algorithms and they performed flawlessly. You are an amazing instructor!! This was a lot of fun.
This method combined with my previous one dropped my time down a lot! Thank you for that, but can you give me a link for the algorithms so i can switch the edges on last layer instead of doing the clockwise thing twice.
I suscribed and could you slow down the counter clockwise/clockwise part please?Great vid 0:17 really helped. Thanks to your vids I can do the first 2 layers memorised!
i went through the effort to try and learn how to solve the cube and listened to a video i found on here.... the guy doing it.... made things SO complicated... you explained it all in a step by step tutorial.... it made things really easy to understand... thanks for actually taking the time to explain it, rather then just doing it on the screen and hoping we follow along
2nd and 3rd solves today! Thank you Mephisto! hard getting used to these algorithms, but getting better and have gotten some of them..Thanks again! 5 stars bro!
Hey Mad.. , I have checked out a couple of videos on cubing, u are one of the best explainig and ur page is very helpful...just got to remember a couple more algoryhtyms. keep it up. Ty
Thank you! You're an awesome instructor! I have never solved a cube until watching this video. In two days, I am doing it with algorithms memorized...and I am beginning to apply other algorithms from your website to do different things. Again, thank you!
Just to add some more feedback, after reviewing your 2-Look PLL video, I realized those clockwise/counter clockwise edge rotations are easier to memorize and faster then the method mentioned in this video. Maybe in the info you can add the other way to do it, similar to video 2's comment on solving the adjacent edge orientation's other method.
I was just solving using them and I realized why you probably kept the other ways. If you do not know ALL of the 2-look OLL's, you need those algorithms to reduce it to a simple edge clockwise/counter-clockwise rotation.
hi i have a problem if anyone can answer me asap would be great. i get the the final stage where i have to get the endge permuted or w/e but when i do the (x,r2,d2... etc) algorithm i keep getting all corners in place but the edges are out... please tell me what i am doing wrong...i know i am missing a vital point where i think i have to get te edges right. thanks alot u have helped me so much.
You need to find a pair of corners with the same color on the Up layer. Make sure that pair is facing right (the layer it is on is facing right), then perform the algorithm. If you cannot find a pair, then hold the cube anyway you like and it will make a pair for you, then perform the above steps. I believe the 2nd video (link in more info) describes this very well and clearly around 8:15.
Ohh, My God! You are a GREAT teacher! I come from Hungary and I know this cube from my birth, but I never solved it. Finally, thank to you I CAN DO IT!!!!!!!!! Thank you!
This method is slightly harder than the method I already know. But the majority of it is shorter. I combined the methods and iI use them both at once and now I can do the cube so much faster and easy. I am just working on remembering how to hold the cube for a few of the steps for this part of the method. But I only use about half anyway. I can do it in like 30 seconds now. Thanks a lot.
hi tnx for this vid. helped me a lot. a friend thought me how to solve this cube but using a different method. and it's taking me 3-4 mins to solve it. at first it was like im doing it for 6-8 mins??. but i think this one is much easier to do. after this il practice speedcubing that is if im able to solve it with 1min or so like what you said. tnx so much! you too take care ^^.
The last algorithms are not working for me. I am at the point, am doing exactly what you are saying, but after i do the algorithm it just messes the cube up more. Did you perhaps type a normal turn instead of a prime or vice versa?
Hi! I'm from Portugal anda I loved your videos. These are the best on the Youtube because are very simple to understand and very well explained. Can you imagine the faces of my teenager kids when I showed them I could solve the cube and they didn't? haha. That was GREAT! Now they also learned with your videos. Thanks a LOT!
Badmephisto, you should be worshipped within the Rubik's Cube community, this series of videos is the most helpful thing I have found on the entire internet! The fact that you're responding to comments is awesome too. Thank You soooooooooo Much.
I thought this was very well made. I was able to solve the cube for the first time tonight. I continued to progress and have most of the beginner algorithms memorized with my time around six minutes. I figure, in one night, that's hella good :P
is it really? It could use improvement though right? I've been thinking recently of remaking it. Thanks though. Was there maybe a part in particular that you thought was not well handled?
nobody ever reads the video description... i know its really out of the box thing to do... i know its hard to understand that all information that I want to convey in addition to the video would be located there. I understand.
just google diy cube or DIYKIT cube and there's many websites to buy them from and you can usually get them black/white but sometimes blue red green etc...
great videos man. i just had a quick question about the cubes in general. u said that with this method ppl can get down to around 1 minute. im currently sitting at 1:30. i'm using a standard rubiks cube u buy at a toystore and its been lubed with jigaloo. how much faster of a time would a diy cube make. also.. any tips on cleaning the cube? i feel like i put too much lube and now its getting stiffer. thanks for the help!
I already learned the beginner method where u get the top layer by getting the cross then place the edges first then place the corners then orientate the corners. i found it easy but when i looked at this i saw that it was beginner oll and pll and i realized that it would be so much easier to get used to this then switch the the fridrich method in the summer. i suggest that u add the keyhole method for beginners because i found it very convient and boosted my time
you are correct... that is what we refer to as the Dan Brown method... it is faster and easier to learn, but you will end up re-learning shit later on. Keyhole? for beginners? Not sure if that's a good idea :) Especially since the last slot is always solved the "normal" way, so they would have to know that way anyway...
OLL is Orientation Last Layer and PLL is Placement Last Layer. Its a very convenient but hard to learn method of solving the last layer of the cube. There is an algorithm of every placement possible of the last layer and it total you learn about 50+ algorithms just for OLL and PLL. Remember OLL and PLL is advanced and takes time, so try not to rush into it. I'm waiting untill summer to start learning the Fridrich Method (F2L, OLL, PLL).
Good video. I learned to solve using the Dan Brown method, but I looked into this and found some good algorithims. Also helped me understand the Fridrich method
I used the beginer's method and solved the cube in around 1:10 and my best time is 45 sec. But i feel like im not goin any faster. anythin i can do to make me solve it faster?
Thanx Man! i watched this video like last year, I came back cause i lost my cube, but gettin another one, i came to refresh my memory how to solve, THANX ALOT DUDE!
Thanks so much. I finally solved one. There were a couple times I got stuck but I managed to figure out what I was doing wrong. Now all I have to do is memorize each algorithm.
First time solve!!! Now to keep doing it over and over and over and over again until I can remember all the whatchacallem....algorithms I think that how you spell it. Whatever I just have to remember them.
I don't get it. I'm still having trouble with this very last step. I have the solved side facing away from me, yellow on top, white on bottom. I have three pieces left to solve, which need to do a clockwise or a counter-clockwise rotation. I use your algorithm - I've done this several times very slowly - and it just doesn't solve. In fact, I end up having to go back through the entire process of solving from the start. Let me show you what my cube looks like.
Hello there...I just solved the cube for the first time. Thanks a bunch. Your videos are easy and well narrated. How do we remember those algorithms? By practice?
Great video man, thanks. Was using an impractical method before this and Dan Brown's just seemed worse... This one's a lot better, and I'll try to memorize it quickly before moving on to F2L and all that. Thanks, keep it up.
haha you're welcome. and thanks to everyone else as well, below this. I cant reply to each of you individually, but you are all welcome and I'm glad I could help :)
look at where each edge has to go. Follow it with your finger. Pick an edge, where does it have to go? Go there with your finger. Where does the edge that is currently there right now have to go ? Go there with your finger. Are you tracing out a clockwise motion? or a counter-clockwise motion?
WOW!! i finally finished it thanks to your video!! Thanks for all of those nice explanation! it helped me and other people a lot!! Keep up the nice and good work!!
Wow, I´ve had a rubiks cube since I was like 4 and never been able to solve it (never knew how before). Your videos are the first I´ve seen on the internet that I could understand. Haven´t look through it all yet but my cube is looking promising right now haha. Thank you very much for great tutorials.
When I watched this video and solved the cube Saturday night, it took me a while. I've been practicing frequently and now I can do it in an average of 5 minutes. Best being 3:08. Good?
u have the only good beginer method video on utube i thank u soooooo much i learned ur way and first timees it took me 5 minuted but now doing the exact same method i can do 1 18 with full hand turns because my cube isnt lubed yet and again ty sooooooooo much

vakama888 3 years ago
Thank you so much, you helped me solve it:-)

Is it just my computer or is the part 2/3 video unavailable
knowyourmushrooms01 3 years ago
Thank you, Thank you x 1000!
I solved it.
Zetenderhoof 3 years ago
I noticed that your algorithm for the clockwise solve is as follows:
Solved side facing away
-F2 U L R' F2 L' R U F2
However, in your video you did an L' rotation instead of an L rotation after doing an F2 followed by a U. So, it appears you're doing it like this:
-F2 U L' R' F2 L' R U F2
Or am I missing something?

Sorry, watched it again. I think I'm just seeing it backwards. My bad. Solved it this time.
Apathanatismos 3 years ago
I don't get it. I'm still having trouble with this very last step. I have the solved side facing away from me, yellow on top, white on bottom. I have three pieces left to solve, which need to do a clockwise or a counter-clockwise rotation. I use your algorithm - I've done this several times very slowly - and it just doesn't solve. In fact, I end up having to go back through the entire process of solving from the start. Let me show you what my cube looks like.

Hello there...I just solved the cube for the first time. Thanks a bunch. Your videos are easy and well narrated. How do we remember those algorithms? By practice?
prashanthlv 3 years ago 2
Great video man, thanks. Was using an impractical method before this and Dan Brown's just seemed worse... This one's a lot better, and I'll try to memorize it quickly before moving on to F2L and all that. Thanks, keep it up.

hi! thank you so much for the help and this method is really helping me...
however i got stuck on the third layer because non of the yellow edges or corners are on the top so i am still a little confused..
kylefan0086 3 years ago
of course, that can happen. You need to orient all of them to make them yellow. First the edges then the corners. Watch part 2/3 again.

i have a question. how do u know if the cube should use the clockwise or counterclockwise cycle?
ExpectoPatronum1313 3 years ago
look at where each edge has to go. Follow it with your finger. Pick an edge, where does it have to go? Go there with your finger. Where does the edge that is currently there right now have to go ? Go there with your finger. Are you tracing out a clockwise motion? or a counter-clockwise motion?
badmephisto 3 years ago
ok thank you!!!!!! that helps a lot!!!!!!! =]

Wow, I´ve had a rubiks cube since I was like 4 and never been able to solve it (never knew how before). Your videos are the first I´ve seen on the internet that I could understand. Haven´t look through it all yet but my cube is looking promising right now haha. Thank you very much for great tutorials.
Diabolo88 3 years ago
awesome, thanks. Do get into it, its fun :)

ty man iv learnd to do the rubiks cube alot better from ur agotherms are easyer to rember and iv even made up some of my own ty so much
burdman123 3 years ago
Again, thanks for the vids. :)
Helped me understand it after memorizing the algorithims.
Azasuke1988 3 years ago
i got that mother fucker yes(:
jackfense 3 years ago
hahaha :)
if you put back a cube randomly you only have a 1/12 chance of it being solvable :) so make sure to always assemble it solved :)
badmephisto 3 years ago
THIS IS A GREAT VIDEO! I have successfully completed my first Rubik's cube.
My only suggestion is that you make a list of all the algorithms and what they do for easyer memorizing
Hehe and to show off to your friends you could do the scramble algorithm then memorize it in reverse and just do that rly fast haha
burl3yb0y 3 years ago
list of all those algorithms are on the website i link to from the video description.
and reverse memorizing a scramble seems like way too much work :s

When I watched this video and solved the cube Saturday night, it took me a while. I've been practicing frequently and now I can do it in an average of 5 minutes. Best being 3:08. Good?
EZrasfadia 3 years ago
u have the only good beginer method video on utube i thank u soooooo much i learned ur way and first timees it took me 5 minuted but now doing the exact same method i can do 1 18 with full hand turns because my cube isnt lubed yet and again ty sooooooooo much

This is is what I call the "Fridrich Beginners Method".
Just like badmephisto said in one of these three It's easier to transfer yourself to the Fridrich method.
