That is serious machine u got there man... I own a 1992 SC300, 5 Speed Manual and man i'll tell u, these cars were ahead of their time. People look at my car all the time and they don't even realize the car is almost two decades old. The SC300/400 were the best of the Lexus lines and to date.

yea so im riding my 92 Sc300, and smoke comes out like crazy from the engine and started to jump..so i stopped, at a gas station luckily and poured some water in the engine, and i think the Head gasket blew off...fuck this is the last time im getting a LEXUS

Twin, most people convert for more boost on a single turbo.

I believe you should, but I wouldn't know. Ask around, maybe check out a 2jZ forum or a supra forum and ask. :)

I couldn't tell you the complete number of all 97-99's that came with the 5sp so don't quote me on it, but I KNOW they are more rare than the automatics and if I found one (97-99) 5sp man with a good body I'd swoop it in a min... (Once I get the dough! :) ) lol

I live in KS so straight highway big hp motor is my route.. its all about your application... the STi and SC serve diff purposes...

@jamaicanlovrboy It's up to you, but I'd do the 2JZ swap instead of the 1jz. Although you might be able to find a soarer that already has a 1jz in it otherwise you might to an NA-T setup like Armo.. there are 2jz-GE turbo kits like his T67 on ebay for under $1000! a 2jz swap has a lot more money involved but if you have it, then spend it! I would blow up the stock 2jzGE before i spend 2-5k on the actual swap.. just my 2 cents.

Oh it's only gonna cost me about $1600 for parts and labor to do a 1/2jz-gte swap. A friend if mine works at a shop that does a lot them, so they get the motors for cheap. Now building it up for big power and going single with maybe a 62, or 67 mm turbo is what's gonna hit my pockets.

Yes ur right the 2jz vvti has more torque, but it's a pain to tune. In Australia and in Europe they love vvti because they know How to tune it really good. I don't know anyone who is too familiar with tuning the 2jz vvti. And to be honest, I don't think I would even notice the vvti difference

Don't hate on Autos. Autos serve their purpose. What all3bspinnin said. Plus I have a custom shift kit in my JDM Soarer and the one second difference between factory autos and manuals is made up for - it shifts like a manual now and keeps on boost the whole time. Head to head with my mates r33 GTR Skyline and his car is worth around $20,000 more

Um I live in a city where there are no emmissions so I have no idea to what those codes mean...as far as hard shifting I'd check the clutch if I were you, maybe the flywheel. The bushing for that car may be expensive but it's a 99 so I'm not too sure.

The JDM Soarers came in a twinturbo 2.5 (1JZ-GTE - my model), a 3.0 NA - 2JZ-GE, same as the American SC300, and the 4.0 v8 - 1UZFE - same as your SC400. Yeah they have a Gryphon badge and the rest are Toyota badged.
