People, I'd appreciate some opinions about possible reliability problems with the Street Triple. Mainly timing chain tensioner problems, oil leakage in the head gasket, coolant leakage in the radiator hoses and faulty electronics. Thanks a lot.
@deojett It has different brakes and suspension than the normal version. the Daytona 675 has the same engine but is sport tuned so they gave the "R" version the daytona's brakes and suspension.
@odracirseraoseia1999 I bought a brand new street 2 years ago.I just passed 12000 miles and it has never failed to start first time.Fantastic bike ....get one you'll love it.
i don't know how is moto market in yours country but in my there isn't many Triumph's, but i love that bikes uf i want it,Triumph have soul,i can't describe it its more then a bike
@joshiscool1989 Hey man, sorry I know your comment was a whole year ago, but I need an honest opinion. I've been riding 250s for a while, and I wana get something bigger, and my first choice is the Triumph ST or STR. But the Bandit is significantly cheaper. Is the Triumph really worth the price difference, especially for a noob like me? I'm hoping you say YES OF COURSE lol
@BboyJoeyBoy Depends if you want to pay the premium for having a nice bike. The triple costs more in every way, outright, insurance, maintenance.. But they are just a nicer bike all together, they have more torque, better handling, sound better and just straight up look better. Test them both and find out.
@MrBolhoed and when ABS is mandatory then we'll be looking at training wheels. Training riders properly beyond the legal minimum rather than removing responsibility would be progress.
nope! the deal fell threw because the dealership starting throwing in all these bullshit fees and such and I basically walked away. I ended up buying a Ducati Monster instead.
After it was all said and done, it would have cost me almost $15,000 in Canadian Dollars, not sure where you're from, but if you're not from Canada, then use a currency converter online so you'll get the picture.
@icepray I tried xb12 long and a street triple. Went for the Triumph, more comfortable, cheaper insurance and better residuals if you ever have to part with it.
its understandable we have been making bikes since time began lol we no how its done :-) im not german but i love BMW bikes :-) and cars for that matter.
I've had my ST R for 2 years, done 26,000 km and never had any reliability problems. Great bike on road & track, would highly recommend.

@RicardoSS85 the lack of answers should tell you everything.....Good luck when it comes to px'ing your Monster for a Striple!!
dacosta1972 2 months ago
The lack of answers actually says a lot about the Street Triple reliabilty;) I'm going with the Monster 796. Anyway, thanks!

there is also a 106 bhp model, right?
wwfww 7 months ago
@wwfww No - the standard bike (2011 and 2012) is 105 bhp as listed. This video was created in 2008, so its not up to date.

wwfww 1 year ago
@wwfww that's quoted at the crankshaft - 90 more like it at the rear wheel..
charliemike007 1 year ago
@wwfww
at the dyno about 91. The 107 is at the crank and typically optimistic as well.

picked it up two weeks ago cant fault it love it to bits.
kt2701 1 year ago
I totally agree, there are many riders out there, that would buy the Street Triple with ABS.
But Triumph sells many of them so they are not forced enough to develop an ABS.
They should react immediately!
:-/
In our days you can't argue anymore, an ABS system is too heavy or wouldn't fit on a sporty bike. This is nonsense.
Bike builders like KTM and Triumph should offer an optional ABS system for their bikes.
thenotic82 2 years ago 4
Bad investment.
ABS is a must have in a few years. This bike invites to agressive riding and ABS supports that. How about priorities, Triumph?
MrBolhoed 2 years ago
@MrBolhoed and when ABS is mandatory then we'll be looking at training wheels. Training riders properly beyond the legal minimum rather than removing responsibility would be progress.
