@nicknchrist Now that you've shouted it three times, perhaps you can learn to spell it;) BTW, he obviously has chops, but if his playing is normally as meaningless and masturbatory as this butchery, then he is far from great-which means more than having nimble fingers. Like most metal guitar-it's all overwrought emotion, impressive speed licks that have nothing to do with the tune, exaggerated vibrato, and when in doubt add distortion until you can barely tell it's a guitar.

@nicknchrist I just thought it was funny you used all caps 3 times when you can't spell his name-but guitar gods don't have to spell. It's true there are some cool metal players, and in another context, this player might sound fantastic, but he butchered this tune in a manner quite typical of metal, and most metal is crap-like Metallica, Judas, Kiss, etc. Obviously this guy can play, but taking a beautiful melody and throwing a bunch of meaningless gnat notes at it isn't art-it's distraction.

I'm not being mean, but you have to be out of your mind to think this is Hendrix. I don't know if you're a guitar player or not, but Jimi died in 1970 I believe, and back then they didn't have amps with this much gain. Just by listening to the recording quality you can rule out Hendrix. The drums, the keys, everything.

But besides that the fact is that this is a well known cover by Malmsteen. It's been around at least 20 years.
