nice fish man. although i agree with some people that it's not a monster, it's still a very good sized fish. the people who are freaking out the specific species are stupid, just ignore them. whether it be a bluegill, red ear sunfish, pumpkinseed sunfish, or whatever, they're all bream. and they interbreed all the time so there are a wide variety of hybrids. the cabelas in washington has a bluegill that is easily pushing 3 lbs, maybe even 4 lbs, now THAT is a monster bluegill.

@gotlogg I agree, my biggest blue gill ever was one lucky fishing trip, for the past year I haden't caught anything and my trip last saturday changed all that and I caught 30 blue gill, 4 of which were over a pound, and 1 was nearly 2 pounds, truely a monsterous bluegill, about 14 inches long, now I've never seen a 15 inch one, but that's approximately a 2.5lbs fish, or basically a near world record

Wow you don't fish alot do you? You know most normal fishermen who fish pretty often catch those types of panfish jus about anytime they want. Plus they either release or eat it.
