@TOWNZEND220 lakers direct - I don't jig specifically for pickerel/pike but would probably use heavier line and a leader, I use tip-ups with 25lb flourocarbon leader.
Find sticky bottom areas, these areas are likely to have small grubs and other forage and weeds as well, your more likely to find fish on a softer muddy bottom then a hard sandy one.
I weigh about 230. WOuld 2-3 inches of ice be enough to hold me? Im dieng to get out ice fishing but not sure as to when its safe to go out. I got a spud that im use to check, but i dont want to be out there and be in trouble.
I have a 30' rope around my waist that I drap about too ... if someone else goes in ... i have something ... or if i go in .....i would hope it would help.... keep it safe... happy hookin.... :-)

I use a swivel to allow me to change jigs quickly...i noticed you dont use swwivels very often so does it affect the fish or no?

@TheBigfisher23 small lures don't sit well if not tied tight to the eye

What about a leader for pickerel/pike or lakers, do you tie directly to the jig for them?

I dont have any type of sonar or camera for ice fishing. What is the best way to find fish jigging?
bradybackmtn 2 years ago
Keep moving until you find fish, try to fish near weeds or other structure.

The really best way is to save up some money and buy a vexilar. You will catch alot more fish in half the time!
