@JipaPwneD the root is the main tone. in this case of the video the root is the A note. You should end your solos in the root, while you are playing the major pentatonics in the key of A.
@OmnipotentO The root is the main note of the key you are playing. In this case it's the A note, and when you are playing the major pentatonics along the neck you should end them with the root the A note.
Excellent! I Drew it on paper, like drawing 6 lines (strings) and i did up to 17 downward lines (frets) and dotted them out. Thanks, great help. also learning Cmaj scale shapes.
is it true to say that the F# minor pentatonic scale share the same pattern than the A major pentatonic scale ? Of course roots are different but positions are the same ?
1, it is a pattern of notes centered around 5 notes each with its own pattern(which he's showing us)
2. each pattern involves 2 notes per string and these sets of notes can be used to solo like for example your bud ws playing some A chord stuff, you would chose 1 or several of the patterns that branch off of the A pent. scale and use the notes in each pattern to jam.
2 no you cant unfortunately. the scale and npotes are perfectly arranged to fit its root, and sound good in solos, etc. you could ask a musc scinetist and hed go on and on about how the scale was found and why its important, all you need to know is, when you get more experincd, YOULL NEED IT! :)
@JediArroN All scales follow some pattern of half steps and whole steps which repeat notes at regular intervals without duplicating notes in between. For instance, a scale won't have the notes A B C B because there's no A before the second B.
@tokojojiji Yes, indeed! F# being the 6th of A. If you see A minor pentatonic scale, you'll notice it's identical to C Major pentatonic scale, of course the root being at C.
@imrickjamesiii Depending on the root key of the chord progression you are playing over... you can use the scale that match the root chord (this will always sound good)... you can also change the scale with every chord change (more difficult)... use the "relative" minor or major depending on the mood of the song.
Remember also that MAJOR is happy, minor is sad, so combined you may express another feelings.
Search for solo over chord progressions, guitar harmony and guitar modes.
@ELPC96 Depends what key you're in. If you want to play in B then B is your root note. If you wanna play in G then G is your root note. Hope that was somewhat helpful.
@airmax36fp Been playing for just over a year now. Im enjoying my GSA60 Ibanez but really want something worth a bit more and bit better. and I LOVE SG's. if i could afford a gibson then I would but im not that rich :P
@kopesh Good choice in the one your looking for, you should go into a shop where they are on display and try it for yourself i reckon, id love one a them i never really priced them tho just happy with my yamaha for now
@kopesh with my experience, epiphones are pretty decent guitars for their price. if youre willing to spend more obviously go with a gibson but epihones are good aswell
isnt it just the normal minor prntatonic but like 3 frets backwards [like if the minor is on the 5 fret than the major will be on the 5 yet a minor position of second fret oO] oO
Great lesson thanks. But how do you actually apply these scales. lol. You need to know how every note in the scale sounds and then jam with them in the same order as you play the scale?

ah.. answer your question?
downwithGEICO 6 months ago
@downwithGEICO So it's used in solos and jamming and blues stuff?
Can't I just make my own scale up
E: 1, 2, 3,
A: 1, 2, 3,
D: 1, 2, 3,
Etc
And call it an Arron scale?
Whats so important about this scale? ^^

@JediArroN 1ya thats how its used
