Saw Bruce play tonight with Donald Bailey, Scott Mcherson on Alto and Steve Smith on organ. Killers all. Bruce lives in LA and teaches at USC where Deodorio used to have the gig.
I concur that Bruce is one of the most underrated jazz guitarists today. I met him 12 years ago when he visited University of North Texas as a clinician. He was incredibly humble & approachable. His playing that day was the most amazing work I have ever seen up close & personal. Later that night, he came to a local bar & sat in with a pick-up group... again so humble but played like a true master of the instrument. Thanks for the post!
A master allowing the music to flow through him...awesome!

He's been my favorite be-bop player every since I heard him almost 30 years ago. This is a good example of why.

The Bruiser can be VERY cocky too. Dangerously so.
