you can get an lx trim for about 19000 new pretty much anywhere, where Toyota sells there bottom base prius at 23000, and that's hard to find, since dealers will always upgrade the vehicles to add on cost prior to putting them on the lot

honda's hybrid Sucks, unless you live on your own because the backseat is very cramp and we have a 04 civic and Its backseats is very unconfortable, if you want a roomy car buy a Accord, pilot, or the Oddyssey because they are the only stylish honda cars out there.
they rave about its "excellent fuel economy" but the guage clearly said it was averaging 33 mpg?!?!??!? a normal diesel will do better than that! a lot better, say 15 mpg better! no need for all the environmental damage that goes into making an electric motor, and no need for the worst interior in the world to save cost. no need for the air con to turn off at a stop, whether you like it or not, no need for woeful performance...
this is better than a golf 2.0 tdi because.... ?!?!?!
that's because i think americans are finally waking up that hybrids are bad. especially the insight, the prius is somewhat decent... why buy the insight when you can have a jetta tdi that does better real-world mpg for $2,000 more?
guaranteed failure? really? never heard that about the new jettas, especially not the diesel models. and anyway, you see what shit this insight is inside and out. i know it's a honda, but a car built explicitly to be cheap (this, every car from dodge, kia rio, chevrolet aveo, perodua myvi, etc.) is no good, and that stands true in reliability.
Most manufacturers have found that Americans still think of diesels as smelly and loud like the diesels of the 80's, even though this is no longer the case. Some manufacturers have had difficulty selling diesels and others have chosen not to sell in the U.S. because of buyer resistance.
oh yeah. if i could get a golf gti diesel my life would be complete but Al Gore says, "no, it's bad for the polar bears." those polar bears could suck my exhaust pipe.
ugghhh i hate hybrids. it's not the car, it's the way you drive. watch Top Gear's video of a bmw m3 driving behind a prius. the m3 got better fuel economy than the prius.
Our Prius gets 45-47 around town. It is certainly sufficient. I do like to drive hard, but give up in that area to save gas. In the long run, however, I doubt if the savings in efficiency will compensate for the eventual battery replacement cost.
i'm talking normal country driving. on a course, the prius got about 35 mpg while the m3 got 37 keeping up with it. around town, yes the m3 will probably get about 20, but i think it's worth it just because it's so much more fun and you get different looks from passersby in an m3 than a prius. in germany i drove a mercedes e-class turbo-diesel and got 40 mpg on the audobahn doing between 80 and 130.
Insight looks liek a very nice car

I woulda let that girl put my luggage in the car for me and lift her skirt up, and just do her right there.

This car is doing horrible in the US market
They are barely selling 2,000 units a month when the Prius is selling nearly 14,000.

Well, Honda is trying to copy Toyota on EVERYTHING.
And its not turning out very good.
VW is not reliable. The engine may be but the electronic system is a GUARANTEED FAILURE

the Prius is bigger than the Honda civic and insight hybrid and the Prius has a better backseat confort than any of the honda hybrids.

Why, oh, why can't we get more diesels over here? I'd like to have a Civic with a diesel in it. A Polo would be nice too.

I agree with that but VW is selling all of their diesels that are here. Dealers are having to bring more over often.
