@seykitten1 No you inbred. The lipstick covers the scars. He has no make up for a split second in the movie and you can see it better. Watch the movie before you comment nonsense
@MrMegaSuperDuperMe That guy needs to choose. Honestly. But its the father. The joker kept making up the wife one as he went along. He kept thinking. you can see it on his face.
he's great in both... complete different genre, character, circumstances, reality ... both exceptionally oscar worthy as they are. wish he was still available for movies.@14lanicup
Heath Ledger was the best Joker ever and no one could ever beat the way he did it. Btw when he licked his mouth/scars through out the movie did anyone start copying him? I did by accident lol
i wonder if he got the scar on one side of his mouth from his dad and the other side from himself lol thats the only way the two storys will be true lol
It's so funny how the Joker was the only memorable character from that movie. Take him out and it's not very good. Just proof to the fact that sometimes, one actor can make or break a film.
@JokerScars69 Number 2 is easily more beleivable, and there's a lot more sincerity in the way he speaks. "I just want to see her smile again. I just want her to know that I don't care about the scars." His inflection and tone sound more desperate and sincere than they do anywhere else in the film. Not only that, but take note that he's speaking present tense. He says want, not wanted. It's obvious that when he tells the story he goes right to that moment. That's just what I think.
@10chaos01 Ledger added a more genuine emotional inflection to the second story. I think that's probably the one either he and/or the Nolan bros. believe more.
@JimmyFraska Very good point my man, but in my opinion 'the Joker" tells any story that he thinks will affect whoever he tells it too most. For example, he told the mob boss(who presumable is a drunk and drug pusher) that his dad was a drunk and fiend, and told Rachel that his wife was beautiful(like she is) and left him. So I believe he has a story for every occasion and every person.
Two different stories because he got Two different scars on the left scars the longer one his dad did that and on the right side the shorter one he did that!!
@P1n0iGam3rS you could be correct but i quote from the joker "I don't remember my past. i decide my own past and choose it how i se fit" or something along those lines. he just basically doesn't remember so he makes the most threatening story to say.
The great thing about Heath Ledger doing such a great job with the Joker character is that it's rather simple to imitate. After seeing all the would be actors on You tube doing their best Heath Ledger "Joker" that is.
So if there is need of the Joker in any future Batman movies, I hope the actor will indeed copy Heath's performance of the Joker to the letter. Christian Bale is doing a decent job as Batman and there is more to explore for both on the screen. But not in a Smallville way.
there would have been a third scar story if heath did not die.... and harvey dent would have also returned in the sequel!!!! they could have done so much more with harvey dent!!!
You wanna know how I got these scars? Well I used to be a nuclear physicist. It was always a stressful job, and I was always frowning. So my coworker Asked me after a stressful day, "why are you always frowning?"
both stories are good, in batman the animated series he tells harley quinn while she was his doctor that his father would beat him, and in batman : the killing joke it shows his "wife" but what happens is different, either way theres alot of different and interesting stories of how he became what he was, mafia hitman, the red hood, failed stand up comedian and so on
prefer the final fight scene between batman and the joker. u can see how crazy the joker really is by just watching him hitting batman. awesome scene. watch it again
@ciaranod yup. also the general direction of the joker's story in this movie is taken from the killing joke as well- the idea of him trying to take someone incorruptible and corrupt him. in killing joke it was gordon not harvey, and the stuff he did to him was almost worse than what he did to dent in the movie. like paralyzing babs and making naked gordon look at those big pics of babs naked and bleeding. and those little carnival midgets dressed like hookers dragging gordon along... so creepy
@seykitten1 No you inbred. The lipstick covers the scars. He has no make up for a split second in the movie and you can see it better. Watch the movie before you comment nonsense

Okay, question 1:
How did you receive your scars, Joker?
A. My father did it or
B. I did it to myself
Joker: C. All of the above
