  • I think it's nice that Miyazaki cared about his employes enough to make lunch fore them so they woldn't starve whill makeing a scean.

  • Now i want some of his Ramen Noodles

  • This has just inspired me to make oodles of noodles ramen noodles just now lol

  • 0:57 that guy looks like the dad in totoro :3

  • The Secret World of Arrietty is out now, and it is incredible!

  • Beast in animation, beast in kitchen.

  • it surprised me how poor the conditions look in that great studio..

I would have thought that the studio had their own chef and stuff like that.. hmh, are these japanese standards?

  • does anyone know where to find the song used in this video? I can't find this version

  • @pyrokitty2000 I was going to tell you, but then i read your username. I hate you.

  • Some things in this world are too amazing to exist.

  • I hear music from kikis delivery service!!!

  • miyazaki, so much respect. :D would any other director with a godly reputation in animation be cooking for his staff, probably not~~ Miyazaki is my favorite person~ ^^

  • Ud think with how well the studio has done for itself, that it would have its own catering n stuff :p...perhaps they just enjoy cooking? Lol

  • I've never seen anyone eat Ramen in a mug before. Now these guys are awesome!!!!!

  • just got a a query is ther a reason on relishing 2 of the anime sires not in English dub

  • wdf

  • Hayao Miyazaki is hero

  • Watch as Hayao Miyaziki pour his heart and spirituality into his latest creation. He's hard at work. He's focusing. Then finally, he completes his masterpiece and shares it with the workers he adores and appreciates so much... RAMEN NOODLES!

D'Awwww, a boss that's cooking for his workers!

  • I wouldn't touch that... not even with my dick

  • @MrMorzipan ...because you don't have one.

  • not just the ramen but the movie they made was pretty damn amazing =D

  • they're like a big family.

  • i love this part of the extras! i watch it everytime I watch spirited away

  • i wish someone made me ramen at my job

  • I heard Japan's animators are under paid and over worked. this does not help that case lol

  • @HotPocketsBoy But most of them absolutely love what they do. If you love the job and don't mind the hours and pay checks go for it!

  • @Gibix yes i know but you earn the money for the amount of work your putting in. If your job is under paying you it doesn't matter of you like it. it's all about what you should be getting. Doing something you love to do for that amount of hours can take the joy out of it for some people

  • @HotPocketsBoy That may be, but I doubt it bothers Mr. Miyazaki and his crew. It all comes down to morale and having an uplifting team to get you through.

  • @Gibix well i don't think they really have a choice. Am sure the working conditions for animators in Japan are like that all over that country. It seems in Japan Animators are everywhere and look like sleepless drones. But hey if I was in Japan and needed to work at a animation studio Ghibli is where i would wanna work

  • FUCKING SWAG.

  • LOL Miyazaki puts ten in.

  • he is my childhood.

  • 3:22 Single caucasian women

  • Brilliant!

  • I love watching this

  • thats not how u make ramen like a boss. u have to eat the ramen raw, then drink the boiling water and snort the soup powder

  • With mouths full of ramen, everyone is happy.

  • so even japanese eat cheap instant noodles.

  • @AnonBuddha but if miyazaki touches them, they worth more thn cheap ;]

  • lol....cup ramen!

  • notice... no meat. I want that food so much right now...

  • @TheAmethystSkies there was definately beef along with the mushrooms, onions, etc. Just cause they only filmed the part of him cutting shrooms.

  • 駿さんステキです☆貧乏塩ラーメン食べたいです!*:)

  • I WANNA MEET HIM SO BAD!!!

He's like the japanese walt disney and yet he gets no credit for anything in america.T^T

  • Comment removed

  • They need to make a religion for people who worship Miyazaki.

  • @yourmothersfuckinass yes.yes.just...yes.

  • i search studio ghibli and miyazaki eating ramen is the first thing that comes up. lol

  • lol the girl at 3:38 with the crazy laugh

  • The laughing women was like: AAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAAA-HA-A-A-A-A-A

While the other were like: WTF?

  • i like how making buttered spaghetti is pro italian lulll

  • @kvar12 in east asia pasta (well good pasta anyway) is horrifyingly rare

  • Makin' noodles,

    LIKE A BOSS!

  • Hah, i like how he grabs a stack of paper to set under the pot. That ramen looks beastly good btw. So odd how such amazing peices are brought up from the rubble of that place ( no offence to any one ) -big fan of Studio Ghibli

  • 3:38 Holy shit, it wasn't that funny.

  • I wish I could work somewhere like that... but I'm a musician. Musicians aren't Asian animators. v_v

  • looks more like a home than my house

  • I smell the powder now...

  • ehhh that much in the pot has to create a lot of starch floating around, they seem to like it so i guess it worked anyway./

  • 0:36 this song .. i want to cry... its .... beautiful

  • @Lazyt07 you can listen the entire track here on my ghibli soundtracks channel:

    /watch?v=MrUsIfSxCzk

  • they don't eat very much! they only add a few bites to their measly little mugs

  • Wow, they are all really amazing :D

I admire the hard work and effort they put into the anime's they're making, i'm really impressed :D

  • The 1 dislike is from Isao Takahata, who wasn't invited that day and didn't get a bowl of ramen.

  • He eats plenty of noodles. Maybe it balances out his smoking.

  • Japan is so much better

  • @themodernage What do you mean?

  • Man, it looks like it'd be hard work, but so rewarding to work there!

  • I wonder what he thinks about....hmmmmm *Brain explodes*

  • thank you miyazaki hayao for making me happy with yout movies ^_^

  • I would like to live in Japan.

  • @Technic89 All you need to do is learn japanese and have a lot of money to live there it cost a lot to live in Japan. I like it a lot never been there looks really nice but my home is America not ashamed to say it im proud ot say it. I just wouldn't wanna live in Japan beautiful place just not worth leaving my family for.

  • @futureanimatior

Thanks a lot. I realy like your answer. It's true. I would not rise my family there.... But I would like to see it once... Just once with my own eyes. It must be a beautiful place... Sorry for my bad English.

  • This is so beautiful, these people are even magical! I guess its the moments like that, that help the movies become even better!

  • oh man, i would really like to work with him. and maybe live his fantasies, but thats not possible

  • T-T...Moments like this make me appreciate the films even more. Now I know all those beautiful images are build upon instant noodles in cups, and many late nights. Many thanks, you lovely people. Also, I would die of happiness if I get to eat Miyazaki's cooking..=)

  • His relationship with his family must suffer from staying at work well into the night.

  • @HaoWenXiang It does which he said once ever since he started work he knew the long hours he would work and if he never met his wife than he would never of bothered to get married. Not because of his way about marriage just because he's working all the time.

  • despite his unmatched talent, he's a humble human, unlike people at Disney..

  • He is like the Stan Lee of Anime.

  • I wanna taste it~~~

  • Men who can cook AND draw. I approve.

  • hope he makes a cook book ill buy it

  • making ramen like a boss

  • i hope he stops smoking

  • @Monehan

i want that too TT^TT buhht the poor man always works hard and LOTS Of stress is put on him and he's getting old. However, HAYAO MIYAZAKI, u have all ur FANS SUPPORT!!!! FIGHTING!!!

  • @Monehan And having fights with his son ;(

  • @Monehan Sadly, I doubt he will. In an interview he said he had cut back by alot ...to 30 a day.

  • @Monehan Smoking is ultimately what caused Walt Disney's demise in health. We don't want the same thing to happen with Japan's Walt Disney.

  • This makes me wanna eat some!!! :D

  • this just proves it... miyazaki is a genius. <3!

  • Wow, not only is he a great animator, he can cook!!

  • Yum ... home-cooked salt ramen ... and from the director himself!

It's also amazing to see how messy and spartan the offices are. And yet they were able to animate a masterpiece.

  • Thanks to this segment I've been putting eggs in my ramen. And it's freakin good. I just wish we still had mushrooms.

  • OMG!! I love that man!!

  • Miyazaki can cook. Girls like food. Miyazaki gets all of the Women. Lol, jk, jk...

My respects Mr. Miyazaki, keep outdoing the awesome man!

  • Fuck, I think I can smell the food from here...through TIME! :O

  • @Judgmentdayz Hahahaha

  • He's totally awesome and cute! Reminds me a bit of my late grandfather.

Would love to taste the ramen, look sooo good! :3 love the girl who cries out "USO!" after hearing Miyazaki made the food XD

  • Miyazaki is an inspiring boss, sweating and labouring with his colleagues. Celebrate this man while he lives and breathes and works!

    where's your hairnet Mr M? :_0

  • " with mouths full of ramern, everyone is happy."

    I would be happy too, if my mouth was filled with ramen... but its not. ;_;

  • I made this recipe tonight! It came out awesome!!!!!!!!!!! So good. Noodles first, then flavor, then egg. I used spinach and jalapenos for my greens/flavoring. Mushrooms also!

    amazing!

  • @kkdkk7 ur stupid as hell...Miyazaki is amazing...and who cares what they eat for dinner stop obsessing over it an get a life...

  • Sometimes you hear something so unbelievably idiotic, it feels like you lost some braincells. Several of the comments below are perfect examples of that.

It's a small animation studio, similiar to a family, so it's nice that they function like one. .

  • ahh es la de el viaje de chihiro amo a el es mi escritor favorito!!

  • Why don't they just order pizza deliveries ?

    so time-wasting ..

  • @kkdkk7 Well why? They can't have pizza for dinner every night. And they alternate between who cooks each meal so it's not like time is wasted.

  • @rom2014

    umm .. r u dumb ?

Of course they can order other deliveries like Chinese noodles or Jap sushis .. The thing is since each and every artist are all needed to rush for the dateline, why wld Miyazaki suggest something so dumb as to assign a cook for each day ?

Miyazaki is so dumb . .

  • @kkdkk7 lol, well what, cooking takes 30 minutes? besides, i enjoyed watching him make ramen

  • @rom2014

Miyazaki is reach beyong imagination, he should not mind splurging a bit of his wealth to treat his hardworking staffs to some nutritious suppers instead of feeding them instant noodles ?

A few cheap bean sprouts and green leafs are not going to last long in the digestive tract.

    I hate Miyazaki !

  • @kkdkk7 True, but who says he's wealthy anyway? His house/car etc don't seem that lavish imo. But maybe he's just keeping it real. Also, it's probably the fastest, easiest thing to prepare so ramen ftw for late nights.

  • @rom2014

Ok ok, if u want to kiss Miya's ass so much go ahead .. good bye

  • @kkdkk7 Kissing his ass? What a weak fucking argument. You come in to troll and shit on the video for no good reason, and when people call you on your make believe shit, your response is "You guys worship the ground he walks on!

When you accuse people who disagree with you of "Kissing someone's ass", you're admitting that you don't have a leg to stand on, you jumped in with no real knowledge of the subject. Why not just talk about something you DO know a lot about, like sucking your dad's cock?

  • @GilbertSmith

I'm having quite enough of Miya's ass-kissers respond to my comments. Miya's assholes must be rotting from u ass-kissers' diseased salivas.

I am afraid I have valid reasons to think that this video shows him to be the tyrant in the studio just like his favourite character called Tototo, TYRANT !! If u really think he is such a great person, why don't u try working under him for a few months before u talk ?

  • @kkdkk7 If you think he's a tyrant based on this video alone, you're clearly some spoiled rich piece of shit who's never had a real job in his life. It's called running a business. Pretty much everyone who's worked with or for Miyazaki says he's one of the nicest guys they've ever met.

Not to mention, you're judging him based on what a translator says in the subtitles, not even based on what he's actually saying.

Why am I still talking to you? You're clearly just a retarded person and a troll.

  • @kkdkk7 But see, there you go proving my point again.

You know that you're dead wrong, so all you can say is "Oh yeah, well if you disagree with me, that makes you a SHEEPLE! BAA BAA!" it's just such a dumb argument, it's the argument EVERYONE who's WRONG uses on Youtube. It's not even originally stupid, it's just redundantly stupid.

You want to talk about people being subservient sheep, I know exactly what you're gonna say before you say it, watch: You're about to call me an ass kisser again.

  • @kkdkk7 While you might be right about noodles not being much, the gesture of a leader cooking something is really kind. The ritual is a way to create some fun and relief. I liked that part of the story. Just because he earned wealth doesn't mean he's the kind of guy that would waste it. I thought it was funny that he kept adding noodles, adding noodles, adding noodles. I bet that tasted awesome!

  • @droid740

Miya's cooking will taste good no matter how bad his cooking is - because everyone's so hungry, anything will taste good. Its not practical, its stingy, its time-wasting, its not nutritious, it does not provide a lot of sustainable engergy, its not scientific, its not dignified, its not generous, its pretentious.

Like I said before , pple are afraid of his reputation so they kiss his ass and never complain. Its slavery..

  • @kkdkk7 I'm Asian, I eat noodles as breakfast, even dinner. You miss the whole point. He added mushroom, vegetables. You do not need meat to provide sustainable energy. Noodles itself is already high in protein. Then they are mixed in together, boiled and the soup has all the essence. A proper meal in Asian will consist more vegetables than meat, especially herbs, that is why most Asian looks younger in their prime. I am for one, eat more vegetables, than meat. Cheers.

  • @kkdkk7 You have absolutely no idea what the fuck you're talking about. You're just kind of... making words for fun.

  • @kkdkk7 If you want to talk pretension, to a lot of people, what he's cooking there looks really, really good.

Maybe you've grown up your life eating nothing but endangered species, but to most people, having a boss cook you a hot meal is an incredibly rare luxury. Not that you've ever worked for a living. Maybe YOU think you're too good for ramen, but to those of us who don't shit on solid gold toilets and who have to hold jobs, what Miya-san makes there looks fucking great.

  • @kkdkk7 Dude. Someday you might animate something yourself. You might do the whole damned thing. All the boards, all the key framing, everything the main character does, and if you do, something human like cooking will bring you back to earth. I'm glad most youtubers ignore your ranting.

It was cool of him to cook. It's a simple commemoration. It's not the crew meal, not lunch, its the evening snack for Chrissakes. Chill out.

  • @kkdkk7 "reach" beyond imagination?

Clearly you're not aware of the fact that Miyazaki actually works harder than any of his staff. Beyond doing just as much animation as any of them, he also writes, storyboards, directs, etc. He's quite literally one of the hardest working people in the history of the art of animation. Even the most rudimentary research on him, even reading his wikipedia page will tell you that.

  • @kkdkk7 Okay so you're hating Miyazi because he was serving instant noodles? That's a new form of pathetic. You're just making your own perceptions in your little world thinking you're smart. I guess they make it easier for idiots like yourselves to remain blissfully ignorant by constructing a life model for you to be a part of.

  • @GirlThatCanParty240

You ever heard of something called Catering Service ? .. where they have a flame to warm the food ? Why's Miya not willing to spend on it ?

Do u know that Miya's many movies makes the most money EVER in the whole history of all Japan movies ?

But he feeds his artists grasses and a few tiny eggs ? If he wants put his wealth to collect dust inside the bank doing nothing, he should think about his starving artists first ..

  • @kkdkk7 Really? You're freaking out because a boss in Japan is cooking Ramen noodles (mixing in veggies and egg) for the workers he sincerely appreciates and adores? Ummmm, yeah. Hayao does appreciate his workers. It's just how Studio works and that's his way of showing his thanks.

  • @AliaSparrow

Well, a really good boss will spare no dime to feed his hardworking workers well .. especially when they made his movies the most profitable in the history of Japanese movies.

My suggestion, employ a night chef who cooks more than just ramen and grasses ..

  • @AliaSparrow

.. and sorry to burst your bubble..

Notice at 3:33, one of the female stuffs (who obviously has worked here quite some time to dare to talk so loudly in front of the director) actually is surprised that noodle is cooked by Miya .. which means he never cooked for his staffs in the past thats why she's so surprised.

So sad, Miya is cooking only for show for the documentary ..

  • @kkdkk7 Are you dumb? She's surprised because Miyazaki HIMSELF is actually cooking the noodles. You don't even know how much respect Miyazaki is getting in Japan. He is like the father of animations dude.

  • @AliaSparrow

.. Also, notice that he only cooked 10 packets of noodles saying that the size of pot can only accomodate 10 noodles. When we see the staffs coming to get their noodles its still that same 1 (and only 1) pot of noodles ?

.. but there's obviously more than 10, perhaps 20 staffs in the office . Each person gets to eat less than 1 packet, maybe half a packet of instant noodles .. sigh ..

  • @kkdkk7 and look, he's just letting everybody else eat, he, himself, is not eating at all. that clearly shows how much he cares for them

  • This is how real workers work they work till they can't work any longer and the way how all the workers take care of each other is amazing. They are like one big happy Miyazaki Family !!! T_T I WANT IN!!!!!

  • Ponyo only liks the ham

  • A genius with a brilliant artistic mind and good spirit... and apparently a beastly cook! Wow, I'd love to work with this guy some day.

  • Whoa he's actually a human! All this time I thought he was a god.

  • @scubadudejz Gods eat ramen too.

  • @scubadudejz Dude, he is a god who eats ramen! <3

  • Miyazaki is a miracle...he inspire me alot!!xx

  • Does anyone know what song plays near the end when they're serving the food? I really like it... it's like a vocal version of One Summer's Day

  • @RLtherichman Really is the vocal version of the song, by Erica Wong, See youtube in watch?v=0igNBM648d0

    ¡Un saludo desde España!

  • amo sus peliculas !! son genialesss!!!!

  • 旨そう。

  • Hayao Miyazaki is the man!

  • HAYAO MIYAZAKI.. he rocks! made me fell in love with anime... his works are the true blue anime hand drawn unlike nowadays where new anime are all digitalise(nothing wrong with that) WE LOVE HAYAO MIYAZAKI :D

  • They need to not just have noodles but have more complex carbs, whole grains meat fish, Im not kidding the animators will have more strength to keep going and they wont become weak, also there joints in there hands and fingers will be less likely to wear out. They should have some meals catered in.

  • @Dalen77 in Asian, noodles is quite the top of list as a main dish next to rice. I can eat my breakfast, lunch, dinner with just noodles and it still keep me going. I think it depends on what kind of noodles and the ingredients in it. Cheers :-)

  • @kienez Yeah maybe there egg noodles, I just think they should have food that helps your brain and joints like fish and stuff.

  • I bet his Ramen is as kick-ass as his movies... XD

  • I love that Miyazaki eats Spaghetti in a cup XD

  • So not only does he make the best damn movies ever...

    He can also make ramen.

    ...WIN!

  • A wonderful moment! Miyazaki is such a perfectionist, but he and his staff still seem like such a happy family. Love this scene!

  • Hayao Miyazaki is BRILLIANT! This was a Japanese Nippon special

that's available in the second disc of "Spirited Away".

I like watching it when I get back into his movies time after time.

I am a huge fan of him.

  • Wanna work with him !

  • I think i honestly would die a very happy girl if i ever met Hayao Miyazaki, My hero :).

  • Hayao Miyazaki is my hero!

  • I like the lady who laughs reallly loud. :D

  • I wanna work there!
